Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I hate to even list this as a goal but I'll walk into work with a 12 pack of dt mt dew and it will be gone by 3pm,, that's right twelve dt soda's ... the few days that I show restraint and only drink 7 or 8 my legs feel better. If I could cut back to just two in the morning and two in the afternoon. I'd be stoked. Gary aquagirl - 2009-12-18 3:40 PM OK everyone.....I know we all posted "bios" but how about we all write down one short term goal we would like to accomplish in the next 3 weeks or so? I figure we will be generous with a time allowance because the crazy season is soon to be upon us. Baby steps are often the way to get motivated. The goal can be something as simple as drink more water or get to the pool x number of times or some such thing. My short term goal is to try and perfect the art of the flip turn . I really really want to incorporate them . Also....so we can get to know one another better why not get into the habit of signing your posts with your real name? I know lots of you are already doing this. Sound like a plan? |

Now I've got 8 months to get my butt in shape!! See you both there then! I signed up for the 70.3. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My goals for the next few days are 1) to fight this cold and 2) not to overindulge with my Mom's awesome holiday cooking and baking. I have a habbit to come back home 5 lbs heavier after the holiday season is over. I already have put on 7 since my last race in September and I do not need to add more! The other goals over the next three weeks (after the holidays) will be to do short 1km runs two to three times a week to assess my foot health, drink more water, sleep more and get back to the clean eating regimen. I just signed up with my triathlon club's 100 days run challenge. I will most likely end in the Bronze club where we have to run a minimum of 30 minutes, on average 57 runs out of 100 days. Silver is 71, Gold is 86 and Platinum is 100. Nathalie Edited by Nats 2009-12-19 8:04 AM |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() halfdome - 2009-12-18 7:12 PM my goal the next couple of weeks is to do some things that I don't get to do as often as I like during the middle of the year. Most of the courts are shut down around the holidays. So, my plans are to mountain bike, hike, and trail run a lot in the next couple of weeks. After new year, start back with road bike and running. One thing I need to work really hard at is drinking fluids during the day. I pretty much don't do that at all. I really wanted to trail run today because the weather is beautiful. I didn't because I thought it was too soon after the half marathon. How soon is too soon? Let's just say that the farthest run I did before the half was 7 miles and I ran the whole race without walking. Because the race was slightly downhill, my quads were screaming until yesterday. They feel normal today. Thanks. Rebecca Rebecca when did you run the half? Take your time to recover properly. Active recovery is ALWAYS a good thing.....but this can be an easy swim or easy ride. Also your recovery will be even speedier if you are really well hydrated. My massage therapist mentioned this to me when I went to see her with my PAINFUL quads after a race........ |

Seriously though you would be better off drinking the stuff with sugar in it. Is that a possibility? If you are going to try and cut down to 2 a day that would be doable no? Good luck Gary....its wicked hard to break a bad habit......... |

There are some nasty hills!! I'm hoping to do the 70.3 in 2011. I think it would be a bit much to conquer this year. I am planning on being there Sunday to cheer you guys on. I went to watch the 70.3 in 2207 and was blown away at the fitness levels of the racers!! You ring the cowbells for me and I'll be there for you guys on Sunday!! My legs are sore after the walk today, but it's a good kinda sore!! See ya all tomorrow. Chris[/QUOTE The hills at Timberman are NO BIGGIE! Seriously. I too drove the course the day before my race and thought "uh oh" but during the actual race when I was riding them they were not hard at all. Its an awesome bike course!! I cannot compare it to Muskoka, having not done that one.........but I have heard that perhaps Muskoka is a harder course. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Helen, I ran the half on sunday, dec 13. I was about as hydrated as I usually am which is pathetic. I have not done much this week but swim but that was pretty much planned. I think I might ride tomorrow but was going to hold off running for a few more days. It is so beautiful out right now, I just want to run!! Rebecca |

January 1st is the start date, it will conclude on April 10th. The runs can be as fast or as slow as you want, as easy or as hard as you want, they can be done on an indoor track, treadmill or outdoors (no water running allowed for this one). We can take days off, double up runs in a day (must be separated by at least 45 minutes). I'm very much looking forward to that one! |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK, I'm a little tardy, but we've been shoveling out here. Yes - I logged my snow shoveling. It's so rare that we do it here - it works muscles I don't think I've ever had. My goals for the next 3 weeks: 1) Stop drinking diet Pepsi again. I stopped in October and picked it up again recently - it's like a comfort food for me and I always get stressed grading finals. (And drink water instead.) I never drank 12 a day, but did drink 3-6. 2) Get off my lazy arse and train. I'm going to reset my training plan (back to the beginning) and start over again. I picked one of the baby ramp up plans because my mojo has been so low, but as it ramped up I fell off. My goal is to do my best to meet my training plan (and hopefully exceed it). 3) Sign up for some races in early 2010. I need some motivation and concrete goals to work towards. |
