Is it too late to join? Did a couple of little triathlons last season (it's midwinter here), but started then working in general practice and the training stopped and I put on a stone in a couple of months. I've just started training for a half marathon in September, and am finding the running pretty tough at this weight... started the week at 146lb which is the highest I've been since losing the weight after baby #3!

Today is Wednesday here and I was 142lb
My goal for the end of July would be 136lb

M

You are in and welcome to Team Skinny. Always happy to see new faces.

Not too bad considering that I cheated badly on the 4th.  Ice cream, apple pie, hamburger, etc.  I still controlled it some but it definitely was a gain rather than lose day.  Back in the saddle.

I totally missed the 5k challenge this weekend. I could have used it. I haven't even gone running this month yet so it would have at least got me out the door. I guess I should drop by a little more often.

Went in the wrong direction this week. I wouldn't have been surprised if had been even worse than it was. Had a big ride Saturday and went a little overboard after that. I actually did pretty good on the 4th. Monday I helped some friends move and they fed us pizza (no not that kind). Then I got home and my wife had made us a big dinner. Two meals an hour apart, followed by a movie with goodies. I think this is the day that did me in. All things considered, it could have been worse than it was.

Reached last month goal this week.  I have another race this weekend so I'm not trying to limit calories too much at the moment.  Good week so far as I did well in my group ride, and got in the pool for the first time in awhile.

June 30 156
July 07 154.8
July 14
July 21
July 28

July 31st goal 148.

Good job everyone who lost on a holiday weekend!

ckallpoints- Hang in there. I bet you'll be in the 280s next week. I always have trouble breaking into the next decade. Took me forever to see the 160s and the 150s are like an impossible dream right now.

As for me, I stayed the same. I was not the best about tracking my food although I tried to eat healthy and control the portions. Got in a lot of activity.

Starting weight- 169.5

July 7- 169.5

Goal for July- 165

Don't worry, we do these virtual races every holiday, so I think the next one will be Labor Day.  I can't think of a holiday between now and then.  But yes, you should drop by more often.  Heck, you might have won your division.

I made sure my scale which has been giving me inconsistent readings was level and hoping it is accurate. I am buying my new Tanita today.

I scaled in at 202. I've been holding steady for the last couple weeks so I fear I've hit a plateau and need to drop my calorie intake to get going again.

Finally! It's been a while since the scale has gone down even if it's just a little! Smile

I'm pretty sure I would have won mine, since there was nobody else in the M 40 - 44 bracket. Hopefully I'll catch it next time.

No change! BUM!
although, considering my junk diet over the holiday weekend, i'm pretty relieved i didn't gain any weight. so, not all bad

Besides just did a 2000yd swim and feel great, so i can't be too depressed about my weight right now Laughing

Since I averaged 1707 calories per day with a 41/29/30 split (I cycled the calories throughout the week so I didn't have the same amount each day), and I got in all my exercise, and I was significantly more active in general even apart from the exercise; I was pretty surprised it was only a half pound.  I guess it will show up next week.

I started swimming on Sunday and boy do I have a lot of work to do.  I never took lessons as a kid, but always enjoyed swimming.  The problem is I'm not very efficient.  Yesterday at the pool I spent some time watching the swim team and realized I was going out too fast.  I tried a few laps going slow and tried to concentrate on mimicking the form I saw the team doing.  It definitely helped, but I'm basically starting from scratch.  Swim lessons are currently out of the question financially and probably will be for a very long time.  Are there any websites you guys can recommend for tips or books I can get from the library?  Any advice is appreciated.

I use swimplan.com for workouts. You just need to know how fast you swim 100yds and you can get a different workout everyday if you want.  As far as form and what not - since I am not a great swimmer - I just watched a lot of youtube videos for help and also try to watch the people swimming at the gym.

i second the swimplan recommendation. i use it all the time because i get bored if i don't have any variety in my swim workouts.
