New user 16 | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! ingleshteechur - 2010-10-21 6:59 AM What kind of trainer did you get? Where did you order it from? I'll going to start pricing them out very soon. After doing a little research I ended up getting the Computrainer. While pricey, it has a few good points. It is basically the industry standard. The new software which will be released in December is going to be really cool. It has the built in Power monitor and stroke analysis. What really pushed me over the edge was when I started looking for a used one, and found a computrainer that was 10 years old on ebay that was actively being bid on for $500+. Anyways, I got it directly from Racermate Inc. I also got the Ironman Kona course, I can dream can't I? |

Good info on the bike trainers! I'm both excited/nervous to start my HIM training in Jan. Trevor I'm so glad you're doing a HIM in July...someone to commiserate with! Mine's in June. And we have a resident bike expert to help with the cycling questions! |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! I did my workout last night and felt good, almost too good, so today I have been rewarded by soreness again. Im getting close to starting the max workouts I think, Im looking forward to them. After flip flopping about my cycling training I decided it would be better for my race season if I passed on Jorges program, its too much intensity too soon for me. Because my season is so long It would have me peaking too early and probably burned out when I need to turn it up. The interval training I will be doing is serious work, I have to make sure my body is prepared by building up gradually. So I will be doing allot of endurance riding for the next three months along with strength training. With that I will be able to continue to focus on Insanity and P90x. |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! ingleshteechur - 2010-10-22 10:04 AM How long is your race season? You're on a cycling team correct? Where do you race? How long are the races? My cycling team(Fun Sport Bikes Cycling) is around 115 people and about half actively race in BMX, Cross, Downhill, Road, Criterium, Track. My race season is April to July with the bulk of my races in May and July. I race Northern California in the Masters division and the Cat 5 division, most races I am mixed with Cat 4's. The Criterium races I do average 25mph with surges up to 32mph for 40-60 minutes a race. Most races are technical and require left and right turns at speed and great pack skills. Crashes happen but are not as common as thought, most of the time its from bumping wheels between riders. I raced 7 races last year and will have to do two events at each race to meet my goal of 20+ races this year, there are only so many criteriums that I can enter. Most races the entry is 20-25 dollars. My team will reimburse all of my uniform kit costs along with all entry fees if I do at least 20 races. The idea is to promote our sponsors as much as possible and to get riders active in racing. |

Elite 4583 | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! Wow, that sounds like a lot of work, but a lot of fun! The only time I've ever ridden with a group was when I did my sprint tri in August, and even then it really wasn't a group, we were pretty spaced out. I was amazed by the cyclists that smoked me though. Man, they were so stealth, couldn't hear them coming and then ZOOOOOOM they'd whizz by. Heading up to Park City, UT this morning for an annual girls' weekend with two of my best friends so I got up early to get my workouts in. 30 minute run and Cardio Plyos. Next week for me is the rest week, but even that darn workout is hard. Planning to do a 9 mile run tomorrow morning up in the mountains...can't wait! Have a great weekend! |

Elite 4583 | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! Trevor I ride a cyclocross too. I was wondering if the tires would make a difference in noise level. Are you planning to do your HIM on it? |

New user 16 | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! Week 2 done! I did miss a workout on Saturday but made it up yesterday. So I bought a new tire and got it installed and it is much quieter! I can actually ride this one without annoying everyone around me. Kim, Yes I will be riding the cyclocross during the HIM. I will probably switch out the tires so that they are road tires, but other than that it should be good to go. |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! I remember doing my first Tri on a mountain bike with knobbies on, it was so loud it was freaking people out. I put my training wheels on over the weekend and put away my race wheels until spring, my training wheels are heavy and have solid wheels and tubes in them. My race wheels are light and use light grippy tires and latex tubes for racing. I ride outside year round and during the winter it rains here allot, so it washes allot of crud onto the roads, its that time again. |

I got insanity about two months ago, but that is also when I first decided to train for a sprint tri (last week was my very first!!) So I have been using insanity for stregnth training to help me reach my 3hr days, but I have not gone full force on insanity! I am ready though, I love it!! I think it is a good way to build speed and the muscle twitch fibers~ so, My name is jessica and I'd like to join your challenge |

Almost made it to the Max workouts! So are you at the week long recovery workouts? It sucks...I remember the hip flexor exercises being pretty bad...I go to that tomorrow morning, although I may do cardio plyo to make up for my missed workout today--just got home from Park City. I did do a 9 mile run up there, though, so I got in something! |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! I did the Recovery workout and did not know what to expact; my thoughts, it sucked! It was not easy at all, shorter but not easy by any stretch. I liked it though, and It did have stretching! It included many combination exercises which made it go by fast, but the last exercise was by far the hardest, squating and doing shoulder rotations, man it really burned. One down and four more of the same DVD to go! Strengthening my core more and my hip flexors both add up to better cycling, hip flexors help pull up on the pedals while a strong core braces your body to apply more force to the pedals. I consider these two muscle groups free speed when trying to get faster on the bike. Im starting to understand more about what this program is doing for me, some of the exercises I never thought I could get through but I am now programed to just keep pushing, this program is allot about perserverance, Im getting that part down. Maybe my form sucks but I just dont stop anymore. This will help me allot with my bike training when Im doing such as VO2 Max intervals. |

Regular 104 | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! I have to admit that I have just been doing whatever workout I wanted with insanity (or time wise, what would work best for me.) I am doing another sprint tri at the local ymca on the 20th of nov. so between running and biking and swimming, I find it very difficult to do the insanity workouts every day, has anyone ever finished the entire 2 month series? Also has anyone purchased their "recovery" drink? |

Elite 4583 | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! I have done the whole two month series, but this was last Jan-March when I was not yet bitten by the tri-bug. I thought about doing it while training for a sprint tri over the summer, but it was too much. I don't think a body could handle Insanity plus swim/bike/run training. I'll start training for a Half Ironman in January, and I think Insanity will take a backseat to that--although I would like to get in two or three workouts a week. I just love it so much, my body misses it when I don't do it. |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! We are half way done with this round! The only thing I see about recovery week is that you are doing the same routine for the whole week, not sure if the idea is to let the body adapt to the same workout before mixing it up with the Max workouts? Maybe thats it, almost like a active taper. The one thing I like about Insanity and P90x is the expertise that went into designing the programs to maximize results. |

Regular 104 | Subject: RE: Bring on the INSANITY! You guys are getting me soooo excited to start the insanity and do it straight through. next sprint tri is nov 20th, then I can BRING ON THE INSANITY haha. Not sure how my winter training is going to go. I am in a master's swim until december and that is 3 days a week. so I know I'll stick with that but not sure with biking and running, it gets very cold here and I've lived in san diego the last 12 years, so I'm not use to the cold any advice on cold weather bike/run would be welcomed. |
