Now I had to go look. I run a 12-25. Maybe I should consider another gearing? I use the big chain ring on the front 95% of the time when im riding outdoors.
And merry christmas to all of you.

Have a great Christmas/ Happy Holidays everyone!

Thank you Fred, Randy, Rene about making me less embarrassed about my "country mike bike". (everything about me is low tech!)
Fred, I took a look and looks like I have compact on the front 50/34 and I think my cassette is 12/25 or maybe even lower... I already stopped in the bike shop (didn't have my bike with me though!) and said "hey guys I know I need what's called a 11/28 or at least a 12/27" so planning to get this.  I know I will need it.  (btw just to give you some ballpark the only number I have for my biking ability is that I had a rate of 18.3 in an olympic tri with rolling hills: in other words 40 kilometers in 1:21)

Hey Randy I'm glad you are doing IMLP too! and btw you are a super writer..I have reread your story a few times because it is so funny

Santa came! Santa came! And it looks like i finally made the "nice" list for a change. We don't get to open presents until we get off the trainers, but I already have an idea that there may be a few tri-specific gifts under the tree. There is one that looks like might be either:A) a bowling ball.B) one of those old-timey bombs villains use in Three Stooges movies.C) a 20 pound kettle bell. Personally I am hoping for a kettle bell, but a bowling ball would be pretty cool too!Have a great day everybody - I look forward to reading all of your posts when we get settled in after today's hoo-ha!

Well, Santa was good to me so someone must be under the misguided impression I was a good boy this year.  My tri related loot haul includes a Park Tool torque wrench with the necessary bits and (insert drum roll here) a new bike.  Feel a little bad about upgrading my bike after our recent discussion here but I will be traveling up to all3sports in Atlanta for fitting on a new rig with Di2 Been in the store while passing through and will likely go with a Blue Triad SL after talking with the fitter and going over my fit numbers .  Nothing wrong with my trusty Cervelo P1 as it has carted my butt around capably for alomost 2 years.  Tough to rationalize my "need" for such a nice new bike but my tolerant and supportive wife is apparently convinced that I will be sticking with this triathlon stuff and thinks I should get one. No argument here....

If only Santa could install some grease fittings on me so I could get rid of these little aches and pains I would be ready for 2011.

Randy

Merry X-Mas everyone!!
It looks like my day will be some combination of riding the trainer while watching the boys play Kinect Sports, and joining them for more of the same
Oh, and of course later today, there'll be some enjoying of the 18 yr old Dalwinnie that was under the tree too

K, having a beer with the family. Had a nice trainer ride today. Some people might ask why train on Christmas? Well it's kinda my sanity, and if I don't exercise with all the in-laws we have I'm in less of a 'christmas' spirit lol. Anyone else training today?

Lol I know what you mean, Fred! Fortunately this year I'm away at friend's so a lot less stressful but no training today beyond taking the dog for a long walk. Tomorrow is running and core work which I'm looking forward to. I seem to have gained a partner too but they're only up to cycling as I run. Better than nothing, huh?

I got a funny triathlon present today - a friend bought me a t-shirt which is the torso of Ironman. Apparently it's what i've got to aim for and to keep me amused during training. Lol One of the guys got a batman t-shirt so we're forming our own mini Avengers team.

Just finished a trainer ride. I don't have inlaws around but still needed a mental health break Wink

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope everyone is spending time with family and eating lots of good food.

I went for a 41 mile bike ride today. I was hoping for 45-50 but I had family coming over and had to do some stuff around the house before they came over. Tomorrow is my long run (10 miles) and a 30 min swim.

I got the book "Be Ironfit" and a track suit. Sounds like people are getting some good training and racing things.

Three weeks now until my 1/2 marathon.

Merry Christmas everyone!

No training today but definitely a big run and swim tomorrow to offset the epic feast that lasted all day.

Tri gifts include an aero drink set up and lap counter for the pool.

Hope you all had a good one.
