Kim--I'm so sorry about your friends, and about the situation at work. (((hugs))). Feel free to fly me out so I can offer my support while we hang out and drink wine with Robin. And we really should get Tom out there to help with the pain in your azz. And Dr Melindy, and of course Nealsy-poo. And of course that means that Ann and Kendra must come supervise.
Dee! Hi!
Robin. Wine tasting. And you didn't invite me. Sheesh.
Ann-I hope the leg numbness is better today. And every day, starting now.
Melissa. How big is your suitcase? I've gained a little weight and want to make sure I still fit. I'll pay for the overized baggage fee. I hope as a supervisor I get to have some liberty with the drinks. |

Pick your poison in the month of October ceilidh - 2011-10-08 8:17 AM givemashot - 2011-10-07 5:54 PM I guess I owe you guys an update on what's going on with my son. He has ADHD. This much we have known for a while. In hindsight, since he could wiggle, we have known it. LOL. He had a very rough year last year at school. He had this high level of frustration, he was acting out at recess, he wasn't getting along with the other kids very well. He even had a few too many run-ins with the teacher where he would be sent to the office so the teacher could have a break from him. If he hadn't been in a gifted and talented magnet class, I would have asked to have him moved to another teacher's class. The end result of all the struggle he faced was that his self esteem plummeted, and we sought out thorough psychological and developmental testing. The results are in, and he has ADHD, as well as a coordination disorder and mild questionable depression. For him it manifests as fine motor coordination issues, most noticeable when he is trying to write. He has a really hard time getting information from his brain to the outside world. Thus the frustration. There is a huge disparity between his IQ and his ability to filter the information, then physically get the information to the outside world. I am now working on accomodations in the classroom but I have hit a road block until the school district gets their occupational therapist in to evaluate him in the classroom and make specific recommendations. Which will probably be another month or so. It's hit me harder than I thought it would. We were able to completely rule out any Autism Spectrum Disorder, so I know I should be relieved, but I am still trying to sort out what this diagnosis means for him beyond elementary school. For example, my husband really wants him to play football. And he has always enjoyed football. But he can't really process what's going on around him and act on it fast enough. I worry that he'll get hurt. But try to convince the two of them. :-/ Hey Amy. Wow. Those kinds of afflictions are so difficlult. They are in that no mans area between a definite diagnosis and a definite treatment. Just my un solicited two cents worth. Go ahead, let him play football. Maybe he will find a groove there. If not, just bet there to help him understand that it isn't a problem to not excel at everything, there are lots of other things he can excel at. My kid was somewhat the same, but opposite. He didn't react fast enough and over thought. Turns out rock climbing is his forte. Track and field can be good too. Lots of focus needed and not lots of things going on. Sending Ju ju your way, too! What she said. Better to let him try the sport than to hold it against you for life that you would not let him. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October Okay, all caught up. This has been a crazy week for me. Two events planned for the library for our Fall Into The Arts programs. One was Tuesday night, the other on Thursday night. Then I had my regular night to work at the branch, so that was three nights in a row. And that is the reason that my log is so empty right now. But that should ease up. And to top off the week, I will be working the next 3 weekends. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October Robin, WOW, those pics are great. I'm going to have to do that. Last time I zip lined was in Mexico. There is a place in North Georgia, but I didn't want to go while the weight was high. But now that it is much lower, it just might be time to do one again. I'm glad that you conquered your fear of heights and went. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October No school today, so no after school kids. My fall programs are over, so I can start to breath again. One evaluation coming due in two weeks, but they recently changed our form and you don't have to write an 8 page evaluation. However, since you only have a small place to write, you need to get right to the point without crushing the person if they have an area that needs work. Anyway, I might be able to pop in a bit more. Yeah. |

Won't know for sure until I get some tests done but he's pretty sure it is a stress fracture. Im due to have my first bone density scan anyway and pretty certain what it will say. Fosamax or Boniva or whatever, here I come. I'm pretty bummed right now. Im fitter and thinner than I've been in 15 years and now this. Guess it's time to get serious about swimming. Problem is I love to run. I really don't like to swim. I may need an antidepressant as well. Grrrrrrrr... |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October Good morning Ghoulies! Sorry I was MIA yesterday. The kids and I had off for whatever holiday yesterday was, I doubt we had off for Canadian Thanksgiving. Anyway, I took the kiddos and the dogs and we hiked part of the AT yesterday morning. Then yesterday afternoon everyone crashed until it was time to get ready for Jiu Jitsu. While the kids were in class I worked out in the fitness room. I am very stiff and sore today, but it is the good kind. Amy - Sorry to hear about your son. We are working on getting our daughter tested for ADHD and dyslexia. I feel your pain. My nephew has been diagnosed with it, and my sister has told us that when he is involved in a sport he is able to focus better. We have noticed that with our daughter as well. Maybe football would be good for him. He doesn't have to play quarterback. Maybe he could play lineman, or defense. Kendra - I only saw part of the game, didn't get to see pregame or halftime. Way to go though! Robin - THAT LOOKS FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! Kim - Sending all the kinds of juju I got. If you can't run can you bike? |

I have a good friend with severe osteoporosis and she was a runner and bicycler. She continued with the biking and after starting meds (fosomax) she is a runner again. And swears by pilates. |
