Chris, any chance you guys are going to do a wheel/brake pad combo?

Chris, any chance you guys are going to do a wheel/brake pad combo?

Our wheels will feature aluminum brake tracks so no special brake pad should be required.  Unless you are already running a carbon brake track pad then I would think you'd have to convert back.

I'm hoping that answers your question.  Let me know if it didn't.

Chris, the wheels look great!!!

Once you get the preorders and such outa the way, you might want to think about providing an all black version (spokes and brake track) even if it involves a little upcharge. I personally think even with moderate use the anodizing will last for a good bit, hell on a TT disc or rear wheel, probably a very long time, just looks soooo much cleaner. Nice job, i have been telling friends about these who are looking for wheels!!

Thanks for the comments!  We really like the black brake track and are considering everyones opinions and the associated costs.  Thanks for helping spread the word!

Jon bovi - 2011-03-23 5:28 AM If the data from the wind tunnel looks good then I'm definitely getting a set.

If our CFD testing is at all correct our wind tunnels tests should be great.  We'll be posting the data as soon as possible.

Thanks for the support,

Sorry, I was improperly referring to if you guys did a black anodized braking surface.  More of a question IF you would need different pads for that.

You guys going to throw a wider sticker on the rear wheel at production or stick to the same front and rear?  What about different color sticker options?  You may have already answered this question, so if you did, I apologize.

No worries.  The stickers will be the same on the front and rear wheel.  We will be offering 10 different color options that you can see on our blog at flocycling.blogspot.com on the December 5th post.

Take care

Unfortunately no.  The construction of the wheel would not handle mud very well.

Chris, any plans for an every day wheel like a 30-40 mm that will be a bit lighter, but still aero?

Yes.  We will be selling a "training" wheel that will be our wide aluminum rim only.  That wheel will feature the same hubs and spokes as our race wheels.  It will be somewhere between 25-30mm deep.  It won't be terribly aero.  But it's a training wheel so that won't be all that important.

Thanks for the interest,

Hi Chris,

Do you have a optimistic/realistic month to be receiving wheels ? I am specifically looking for the disc wheel.

I can add up the worst case scenarios late Q2 start pre-order+x months pre-order + 90days....but I suspect it will be much better than that

Is there a good shot of getting them for this racing season.

thanks

I can't give you exact details right now.  If all goes perfectly I can see the pre-order happening in May.  Trust me.  We want this company off the ground just as bad as many of you guys.  We are just making sure that we release a quality product.  You only get one shot at making a first impression.  If the pre-order happens in May I think you would be in good shape for getting your wheels for a mid to late season race.

I hope that helps,

I want your wheels just because of how honest you are.  I think they would compliment my titanium road bike nicely.

Haha.  Thank you for the compliment!  I agree... I think our wheels would compliment your bike nicely as well

Looks like you could do a disc/power tap in the $1500 range. Don't know if Zipp/Saris have an exclusivity agreement, but that would be about half the going rate.

We'd have to dig into the details on that but... off the top of my head that seems reasonable.

For the record I own a Quarq and love it.  They are really great power meters.  Nothing against PT... they also make great products and have great customer service.

IMO, I think the goal of a group buy should be to get your order in first (ahead of individual orders)...not to get a discount.  I think everyone will agree that their price point is already dirt cheap.

If that's the case...I'm in.

I completely 100% agree with you on this.
It seems that everybody's main concern is the pre-order/ship date and not their pricing, which says a lot about their suggested price points.
Would definitely be on this group buys once we get the go on it.

Great job on the wheels guys, they look great.
Looking forward to the updates.
