Good morning Team Canada.  Hope everyone is doing well and making progress towards their goal.  My cold seems a bit better this morning - still a bit in my lungs but I think it is breaking up.  I'm hoping to get 2k in this Friday morning.  Take the time to visit a teammates BT Log (click on the BT Log below their name on the spreadsheet)- send them some inspires.

Steve

Alright... so it looks like I'll be getting in my first swim today for the challenge.  I haven't posted any swimming yet but don't worry.  I will make sure that I complete my goal ... My house is in renovation mode and chaos is all around me!  This is going to be an interesting month.

I guess about 3600m today!
Swimming is just great. It's the solution to all your problems.

Feeling stressed? go swim
Feeling sluggish? go swim
Report due in 2 hours? go swim - it takes your mind off the fact you won't complete it.

Thats pretty funny.  And it would make an excellent sig line.  Good job getting the swim in, now lets keep our fingers crossed that you got the report done.

Yes, I officially open-source that previous post. I'd never use it for my sig. My sig always refers to highly inappropriate cartoon quotes. But to prevent hijacking this thread, we could do something similar to have a team motto.

I always have problems in Dec.  I have been sick since Monday and missed my tuesday master practice.  Today I'm feeling a bit better.  Last master class for the season tonight.  Not sure I will make that one either.  But don't dispare fellow team members.  I have two weeks off during the holidays and plan on being at the pool. I have access to 4 different pools in my area.  No excuse not to get-er-done.

Nice job Mesteren - I should follow your footsteps rather than leave it to the last week.

Soloryder - December is the best month to swim! You'll do it, I know you will.

Nightmare. I have just heard that my local pool is going to be shut between 18th and 27th December. That would normally be two Tuesday night sessions and one saturday am session.

I do have a couple of other pools that I sometimes use

YIKES! Indeed you'll have to resort to other pools (or unfrozen waterbodies) to get the job done.

D'oh!

So, my Thursday swims are usually an hour.. around 2000-2200m.  USUALLY!  Tonight, I get to the pool and I'm the only one there - just me and the coach!  So I didn't get as much swimming in as I wanted to - only 1350m - but it was an awesome session.....

Gonna have to make up that lost kilometrage somewhere (yeah, that's Canuck for mileage).

I'm back baby!  No - I don't want to get over confident but I did get in 2 km this morning.  First workout in many weeks.  It's a start!

How's everyone else doing?

Chugging away at it. The recent spell of -20º C weather though has made the pool water seem really chilly though. Well, at least until about 100m into the swim when I start to warm up. Still, after walking outside, getting chilled to the bone and then stripping into my jammers, the last thing I want is a chilly pool.

How many more months till summer?

Arrggh...I've got the flu...feel like I've been hit by a Mac Truck.

Hopefully I'll be back by next week. But then I've got a 3 day business trip with no pool available.

 Uh - oh....

Hey at least I got my Guelph to Milton run in....18K whooohoo! I snapped this pic when I hit the Milton township line.

Well seeing as I can't really get out of my drive way and they have closed the University (where I swim) I don't think I'll be getting pool time.  Snow much fun!  Time to get my snow shovelling workout in.  Thats considered strength training right?

"Chugging away at it" sounds about right.

I'm back in the pool, but I don't remember swimming being this hard.
I have always been a good swimmer, it sucks how fast you lose yourself in the pool.

But hey, I'm back in the water!

I also found out on monday this week that the pool is closed for the same (dec 18-27). I should manage my goal by adding 10-15 minutes per workout until then though, so perhaps that is also an option for you? There are other pools in my area, but, I'm now used to the one I'm at so why change...

I know this should be a thread to encourage... but I've got some bad news.

I've got to go away up north for the week, or more, and will be staying in a camp in the middle of NOWHERE (nearest city - Fox Creek, which those of you that know it, realize that I will be living basically in hell). There obviously is no pool there, and given that I will be working 12 hr shifts for at least 5 days straight, I'm just PRAYING that I don't come down with a cold which would prevent me from bouncing back and getting back on track with this.

You'll be able to follow my logs to see if I'm back, and I'll check in when I can (don't even know if I'll have internet up there) to see how everyone else is chugging away.

Keep up the good work everyone!!!

Got in another swim this morning (pool was 2 degrees colder than normal as their boiler was broken).  Hope everyone else is doing well with their challenge.  I'll be updating the spreadsheet later tonight so please try to update your log as soon as you can!

Here's a good challenge...

Who's up for doing a double? That's right, a swim in the morning AND the afternoon. Last year I was doing 13.5km a day doing this.

I reserve my doubles for next week, but there will be some.
