Halloween is nothing more than a gateway into that most annoying, frustrating, and generally irritating period of the year:

The holidays.

I despise it, I loathe it, I dread it with every fiber of my being. Just contemplating its approach starts to raise my ire.

The fact that I have already seen CHRISTMAS decorations up just baffles, stuns, and dismays me to no end.

I worked in retail for about 7 years, so I completely understand. I can't believe how obnoxious people are to people working and the people around them. I hate that Target has Christmas decorations out.

But, I don't lump Halloween in with that. I love it. I love costumes, and parties and decorating for Halloween. I don't get this excited about Christmas. I'm not really sure what it is.

Oh, I don't mind Halloween anywhere near as much as the others. But, when Christmas decorations are up already, I start getting twitches.

Agreed.  That really bothers me.  It's also hard to want to have Christmas decorations up when it's like 80 degrees.  Christmas needs snow.

spokes - 2007-10-23 10:57 AM Well, I'll be thinking of all you fondly while trapped in Air Quality Conformity 101 for the next 2 1/2 days. Play nicely in the sandbox... I do get breaks, lunch, so I'll check in from time to time

We'll miss you!

Who's in charge while you're gone?

Scout7 - 2007-10-23 11:09 AM Hey, Arte, how's that plan coming for next year, hmmmm?

Next year?  I'm just working on next month!

I'm starting with a pretty beginner 1/2 marathon plan, but then adding in some of the speedwork sessions that are mentioned in the Hal Higdon plan.  I'm going to try that for a few weeks and see how it goes.  If my leg doesn't protest too much, I'll start the Intermediate 1/2 marathon plan in December.

OK...totally changing the subject here...oh yeah, there's NEVER a subject here...just a lot of nothing...and some air trapped between Spoke's thighs...but I digress...

Check out this hit that Chris Long (son of Howie Long) laid on MD's QB, Chris Turner, on Saturday night.  The sack resulted in a safety and helped turn mojo UVA's way.  Great game to watch and CL was in "freak mode."  And if you want to see a smaller version of the "hit" in action, check out my log from yesterday...one of the best CFB hits I've ever seen.

Football is a girlie sport. Want proof? See the aforementioned photo of the two guys hugging as they collapse on the ground.

Yeah but do they shave their legs and wear lots of spandex? Oh and wax up their nipples?

Naturally, when I say waxing, I mean Body Gliding. Nipple ... lubing, perhaps?

TBZ - 2007-10-23 12:04 PM Man, I'm just being spanked by you today.

I thought you enjoyed that....

Honestly, though, it's not personal in any way.

I'm cranky today.  And to be perfectly honest, it's those types of threads that really make me doubt this site.  I've seen comments bashing non-triathletes, bashing athletes in other sports, bashing free members of this site, and even those who post in TAN threads.

It's this attitude that is becoming more and more prevalent that is seriously making me think about finding greener pastures.  For all the talk of civility and stuff, I'm not seeing it so much anymore.

Wah!

I'm gonna go run now.  And since I can't find a man or woman who will run with me without whining about the pace or hills, I'll probably go alone.
