BEER was included? Why did I miss that memo? I've got to get started - I would hate to be the one to cause the team to fall behind on the brewed beverages goal. Great job this weekend guys and gals! Way to get the workouts and beer drinking in- there's room for both in a balanced training plan - right Rick? You're already behind. Go ahead and get another. Oooh. I was wondering if there was going to be any sort of 5 for Fighting challenge within a challenge. Could be. Go get another. Then recommend one. I'm still at work. Hawaii time and all . But, I will participate as soon as I get home! |

I don't care for beer, but I love wine. My problem is that I have a dire inability to re-cork a bottle once it has been opened. So I wind up drinking the whole thing in the course of an evening. Some of the popular beers at our house (among my beer-snob friends, that is): New Belgium's Skinny Dip Eel River's Porter (organic!) Anchor Steam's (I think it's a Pale Ale)
YMMV |

OMG Karen, this is the devil's invention...the fact that when you try and re-cork a wine bottle, it never fits into the fridge properly. So you get that attitude of "Oh well, might as well finish it off!" An even worse option is the wine in a box...5 liters for less than 20 bucks, complete with a dispensing spigot on the side. Leave one of those on the kitchen counter and let me tell you, you're topping off your wine glass every 30 minutes. Makes for a few fuzzy football games on TV! I'm thinking that should have been part of my challenge goal...to finish off a full 5 liters of wine before the end of the month. Maybe that would make watching the Spinerval DVDs a bit more tolerable.

We've got hollow legs. and not only scotsmen, also a finnlander. gotta tell you a story - a tourist went to lapland for vacation in summer time and saw a laplander old guy fishing on a stream. it was in the middle of nowhere, nobody or actually nothing there miles and miles away. tourist approached old guy and asked him what people actually do around these parts in summer time. - well, we fish - and we f*** - oh, really, tourist said with a slight blush but continued, and how about in the winter time? - well, in winter time we don't fish that much. true story. of course. another fact - if you are lost or in trouble in northern finland - lapland - easiest way to get help is to open a bottle of vodka - few minutes and a laplander will come and ask how you are doing. |

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting I swear, drinking is a Finnish ritual, especially combining it with an hour or two in the sauna. Turn up the heat, open a bottle of Finlandia vodka, and when it's time to go outside and roll naked in the snow, you won't care very much about how cold it is. Congrats on getting the new bike Antti...wait until you see how much faster you'll be in the next triathlon...unless you stay up all night before the race with the vodka bottle.

More bike porn to drool over, though I'm thinking that the rest of the engineering department is getting suspicious when I flip the technical manual on its side and start breathing heavily at the bikes that I've pasted in-between the covers. |

Expert 929 Hawaii | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting My swim race for December has been canceled. I'm pouting. I was all set to swim lots this month, and be ready for the race. Don't worry, I'm still going to finish my swim goal, but I guarantee you that if I weren't in this challenge I would definitely be spending a lot less time in the pool and ocean. Post pictures of your new toy, antti! In the spirit of our challenge within a challenge I split a bottle of wine with my SO last night. Okay, he had a little more than I did, but he's bigger. It was tasty.

If it's less than 100 KB, you can check the box below that says "Attach a file after posting" and that will give you the option of uploading a picture directly from your computer. I don't think the forum supports the IMG HTML tags allowing you to link to it from another web site, but I could be wrong on that.

Master 1841 Sendai, Japan | Subject: RE: 5 for Fighting Hi everyone. Nice to see so many great exchanges in this thread. Time for me to catch up... Van Paulus: nice half! Antti Asu: waiting to see that bike pic. A new bike is on my list of things for next year. Beer & Wine: I'm 25% Scottish so David (Pulch) -- you can bump up the Scots count to 2.25. I figure that 25% is my left leg and it may be hollow. Perhaps that is why I have problems with my left knee? MaybeI need to top it off more often? I do include beer and wine in my training diet, but will make the supreme sacrifice of cutting them out in the second half of November if my weight goal is in jeopardy. The weather here was great today and I had a grand slam kind of day: walking (no running yet) this morning followed by a 21K on the bike. This evening I got in my weights and 500 meters in the pool. The beer and wine this evening tasted great after all that. Cheers, Dan |

Dang girly, you have GREAT taste in beer! YUM! Its 9 am here... is that too early to partake? I don't care for beer, but I love wine. How is the goal progress going? Anyone needing a friendly kick to get moving? Things are going well for me. I'm on track for the swimming and running, but need to up the effort to make my core workouts goal. As for the wine and beer consumption, I'll attend to that goal tomorrow. One of our local eateries has $2 pints on Thursday nights...I'm in the mood for some Guinness . Edited by naners 2007-11-07 1:11 PM |
