Pretty sure spontaneous combustion might occur in this thread somewhere along the way, especially if we have frequent visits from Yanti ;-)

Since I'm a latecomer to the team, I'm wondering if I should do my introduction HERE or in the introduction thread... My goal is to run 100 miles this month. Sandbagging, I know, as I ran 200 last month, and I'll likely run around 160, but I'm tapering for a marathon and I wanted to have a goal that I'll make without too much pressure... doing 175 last month was a bit much even though I ended up doing 200.

We've basically retired the other thread. Everything is now here! 100 miles sounds like a lot to me, 200 is way out of my reach at this time, so you have me impressed.

Yeah... I'm actually finally getting out of work... No more meetings this week...  Wish I could log my work mileage instead of running mileage (51 miles for two meetings, ugh)

Now the challenge begins... And I even got my avatar to finally work.

See y'all tomorrow

Thank you.

OK, intros.

I'm a 45 (will be 46 11/12) year old divorced father of two (boy 7 girl 5), I live in lovely Sacramento, California, went to the U of Iowa, gots a BA in English and a MA in urban planning, and I work as a transportation planner for the guv'mint.

I came to triathlon as a cyclist but I'm finding I may have a lot more talent as a runner, so I've been running this kind of insane 'intermediate' (according to some of my friends) marathon training schedule since April. I'm doing the CIM - California International Marathon - here in Sacramento on the 2nd of December. Right now, it appears my time could fall anywhere from 3:45 to 4:15 depending on conditions and me. Last Saturday, I did a 21 mile run at a 9:02 pace, which translates into a 4ish marathon.

The CIM will be my first marathon. I've done four halfs, some 10Ks, and a jillion 5ks. Only 2 dus and one tri under my belt (I really, really DON'T LIKE TO SWIM).

P.S. Scout7, from Team TAN/Werewolves, is my running coach and the Dark Master that put together the insane training schedule.

I have only done 1 tri too, and 2 dus (all this past summer). I'm glad there is someone here who hates the water as much as I do.

I'm a lousy runner. Maybe you guys can help me out with pointers. I'm trying to start running again next week after not running for five weeks to heal my right hip flexor. I could really rock some aqua-bike events. Nice intro, Spokes.
Welcome!

I had to deliberately avoid this thread while at work today, because I would have been sucked into the vortex really quickly.

So, introductions.
I'm Sharon,  44 years old (45 on 12/15), very happily single, no 2-legged kids, living with my wonder dog, Chelsea (the avatar, of course).  I live about 10 miles north of Minneapolis.
I have called myself a triathlete since early 2005.  I have done a couple of sprints, and plan to do at least one olympic distance on '08, gradually building up a base to go for the longer distances before I turn 50.
I am an MS150 fanatic, and will be doing my fourth one in June '08, so I am pretty much addicted to biking.  I do the breast stroke really well, and I am learning the freestyle right now, so that I can greatly improve my swim time.  As for running, I am back into running after a 16 month hiatus to heal a torn tendon.

So, enough of that.  I am really looking forward to working with all of you towards our domination in the November Challenge!

I put in 30 minutes of elliptical over lunch, and will be going to swimming lessons tonight.

I'm going to revise my goals.  When I originally posted them, I was looking for something just to get me moving in a specific activity several times a week, but I think if I don't set some specific time goals for myself, I'll get lazy and do a five minute workout just so I can say I got a workout in.  Here are my revised goals:

Bike 450 minutes (through 11/18 - going to Costa Rica on 11/19 - no bike)
Run/walk 600 minutes
Swimming 300 minutes
In addition, I'm going to keep the following as 3x per week since I'm not as concerned with how much time I spend on each activity but am more concerned with getting in the sessions.
Yoga/stretching 13 sessions
Core/pilates 13 sessions

That being said, now I feel like I've really challenged myself to improve this month rather than coast along.

I got my bike in today, it felt great!

Tomorrow I will probably do nothing. Usually I take Fridays off because they are one of my busiest days. I have a speech I have to do at an awards banquet tomorrow. I won a scholar award for a paper I wrote and have to now talk about my paper before I can claim my prize money.

My internet is running horribly. I have no idea what is going on, but it is me off! So, I can't post as much as I would like to because it takes ten years to load a page

Hello Team Six (aka They Who Shall Not be Quiet Named!)

Attached is your team's spreadsheet.

Your Team Captain is lastcall2003 aka Beth.

Each week, your Team Captain will fill out the spreadsheet, marking your progress towards your GOALS.

The "week" will run Saturday to Sunday. (This will allow you to cram in all those weekend sessions!)

I will start a thread called "Nov Challenge Team Leaders Thread." Please post your team's results there by Monday evening each week. (Sunday is fine, if you have them ready. But I figured I'd give you the extra day, in case you need to nag encourage your team to post their results.

To attach a file to a post: While writing a post, look at the bottom of the box. You'll see options to include a signature and enable emoticons. Directly below that is "Attach a file after posting." Check that box. You will then be able to attach your spreadsheet to your post.

If you have questions, or need better instructions about this, feel free to ask.

And most of all..... GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! I hope every one of us meets his/her goals!

Dee

And THIS time, I'm going to start reading from the BOTTOM of the thread. That way, I won't miss you yelling something at me, that I wasn't able to see because I was 4 pages up from where everyone else was..............

Oh --- and what do you all think of my new avatar?

Hahahahaha.

OK, time to start reading what you've all been talking about all day.... I am suffering from BT withdrawal because I wasn't here for.... forever.
