A 50m pool? That would be awesome!

I did a quick 500m this morning before my pool running session. Tomorrow night is the start of our January adult swim tri class. The focus this month is speed work, so I think it's going to be a great series of workouts!

wemoon - 2008-01-07 5:08 AM What does everyone have planned for today?

Day off for me.

We adopted a cat yesterday and already have a dog.  While he has lived with cats in the past, it's been a while (6+ years) and now we have a bit of "dog-meet-cat, dog-don't-eat cat" acclimation to do!  That's it for tonight unless I get motivated to vacuum or something.

Better weather this week should be a great motivator ! I plan to do three swims this week starting tonight, should be 3000+with an emphasis on butterfly and backwards stroke. Lets get busy Wet and Wild!

I got in 900m this morning. My first time back in a 50m pool in a while and it killed me!! Well part of it was that I was feeling the 2200m I did yesterday in the 25m pool and I need to work on my nutrition so I have the energy to get wet and wild!!

My body is calling for me to take it easy for the rest of the day, but friends are headed to the pool tomorrow so I'll be joining them. The 50m pool and I shall have a rematch and next time I will come out on top!

GO TEAM!!

50m pool? That would rock! Make sure you do listen to your body and not go too hard... don't want to hurt yourself!

Got my swim in, did 100 more than my goal for today. I was able to swim 200 yards continuously, twice, which is big for me. It is crazy to think back my first time swimming just barely 2 months ago and how I couldn't go 25 yards! My dream of doing an olympic tri this season is looking more and more possible with each swim session I do.

I didn't do my run though. I just really wanted to go swim. So tomorrow I am going to bike for 30 mins. in the AM and then run my 2 miles in the afternoon.

After my workout today, I had to go spend dang near $300 on college textbooks for my next semester. I had to buy SO MANY books. It is just ridiculous! I cannot wait until I'm done with school.

AHH!! don't remind me.  I have to go buy a couple of textbooks.

Awesome progress with your swimming! You are definitly going to make your olympic!

I ate really well today and feel SO much better!!! So I think I just learned the hard way why you need to eat more when training harder.

I'm excited to take on the pool again tomorrow morning.  Going with the guys who did the polar bear swim with me so it will be fun.  So it will probably turn into a battle of the sexes across that 50m pool. (but I beat them in the polar bear swim so I've already won!)

It's Challenge update time!

There are 121 people participating in the challenge this month.

And now.... Here are the team standings through January 6th:

(Cue the drum roll, please!.... You'll have to scroll down because for some reason, the table is wayyyy down the page!)

Ranking Team # of Participants Percentage Completed
1 Scrambled Legs 13 30.16%
2 Twisted Blisters 13 23.89%
3 Who's Your Marmadaddy? 13 23.12%
4 Team Ride Lots 13 20.82%
5 Loving Every Mile – L.E.M. 14 20.01%

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SCRAMBLED LEGS!

BUT remember that this is only the FIRST week of the challenge! January is only 22.6% completed. There's still time to help your team achieve that #1 ranking!

So get out there and Swim/Bike/Run!... And then Swim/Bike/Run some more!

I started keeping track of what I am eating a couple days ago. There is various reasons for me, like knowing that I really don't need seconds but having them anyways, dealing with my mother who is at risk for diabetes but yet doesn't change her eating habits, wanting to be able to figure out what foods work well for training and what do not... to name a few. Essentially, just to eat better and to stay in the area of my recommended daily calories. I don't micro manage stuff like that, so anywhere within a couple hundred is good for me!

Got my bike done this morning as planned and will now run this afternoon. I'm hoping that it stays warm-ish with no rain/snow. It's only 2 miles, so I could just tough it out, but I'm such a wimp with winter!

I should be close to 50% of my goal after this week (and I even bumped my goal up some!) so hopefully that will help boost our team up! Make sure we log every yard!!!

put another 2200 yards on my board.  The challenge was definitely what motivated me to do it.  GO WET AND WILD!

I'll have to go check out the roads to see if I can get on my bike...  it snowed just a touch last night and there was some slush this morning.  Supposed to do a speed workout but it may have to be a run instead of a bike.

One that I like is using a resistance band. Grasp it with both hands, overhead, about shoulders width apart. Then bring your hands down to your shoulders, behind your head. Hold for a few seconds and release.

Have fun with "pain night!"

Tomorrow I will be swimming, at least 1000 and plus more if I feel like... which I have just been loving my workouts lately, so I probably will go further.
