Today's an off day....went to a movie!  Tomorrow, a little 15 min or so run, and Sunday is the MARATHON!!  To say that I have the jitters would be an understatement.....and the weather report isn't helping.  Looks like 50 degrees, rain and wind....hunky-dory.  Not even sure what to wear, but at least obsessing about that is keeping my mind off the 26.2 miles ahead of me.  It'll be fun.  It's in Napa, about 2 hours from here, so I get an overnight with hubby and friends, and wine tasting afterwards.....yeah!  See, I can keep my mind off the 26.2 miles, easy!!

LindaCool

Don't know why I have the sunglass girl up.....looks like I won't need them!

Busy weekend for me training wise...

Saturday two hour trainer ride or 40-50 outside followed by 2 mile run-brick!

Sunday 7 mile run and later or right after 40 min or 12 mile ride.

I'll probably get in an extra swim with Kevin and the girls.

I bought a new saddle Selle SMP Glider today...$270...ouch...can try it out for couple weeks to see how it works..hope to get it on before tomorrow but 2 hours may be to long for a new saddle. Same saddle brand as I have but a little narrower 136 mm vs 148mm for SMP Pro saddle . Selle SMP brand has nice large cut out so nothing gets squished and solved many problems but caused some others.

My tri coach wants me to start using my orthotics again so I needed neutral running shoes and ordered some Men's  mizuno wave rider 12s as I have wide feet.

Cool looking saddle.  Hope it's comfy on the tuckus.    The website looked like a good one, I think I could spend way too much money there

I'm running tomorrow.  It's supposed to rain so if it's real bad I'll take the still coughing self to the gym and suck it up on the dreadmill.

After my trainer ride (if it's pouring) I'll head up to Performance with Sweet Mama cause she needs some major bike love after the winter on the trainer and 2000 miles since I bought her.

I need to head over to 3sports too (tri shop) to try on the tri club suit and possibly order it.  No more racing in a bathing suit and bike shorts.

Kathy, I loved it!   I've also been blogging a bit lately, (not to your caliber!) and would love to get input from you - and anyone else with an opinion!  Seem to do my best work when I can't sleep - note the posting times!

Middle of the night question that's been floating around our neighborhood.  If you are married (or engaged) do you train and/or race with your wedding/engagement ring on?  If not, why not?  Any thoughts?  This has been a recent (big) topic of conversation on the pool deck, and I thought I'd throw it out nationally, and internationally, and to a great range of people!   I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I stopped wearing my engagement ring years ago....setting was too high and it got in the way. When I was lifting weights a lot I ditched the wedding ring.....but now I have ditched the weight lifting and wear the ring again! When I do an OWS I stick my ring on my watch band so I do not risk losing it.  What I do not like is the way the ring kind of "clinks " against my aero bars when I ride....but my new girl has bar tape on her bars so this will not be an issue.

I do not wear it when I race. Don't want to risk losing it in the water.

Funny thing is my husband has NEVER worn his....it does not agree with his skin. I have never minded that he does not wear it.

Nope I haven't been wearing my wedding/engagement ring for months and never swimming. I just bang it to much and my fingers change sizes depending on the weather and I'm afraid I'd lose it. I have white gold ring and they put platinum prongs on it to try to have it hold up better. I probably have had it fixed 10+ times.

A good BT friend has had to have her engagement ring worked on a few times and her jeweler told her chlorine is bad and is what is wrecking her prongs.

I lost a new sapphire earring in the pool once but after seraching for it found it on the bottom. Now I only wear cheap stuff or nothing.

What I NEVER take off are a pair of diamond earrings that my Mom bought me when I was going through some very difficult health problems a few years back. They have screw in backs and are VERY secure. They are like part of my body now. Permanent glittery ears!!!

I stopped wearing my rings training for similar reasons to Kathy's.  They slide around a lot anyway since I lost weight and I know I would lose them.  If I'm just riding or running I may wear them but never swimming.  I have had a lot of problems with the chlorine levels in the pool at my gym eating the clasps on good necklaces and such that I decided it was better for my good stuff to stay in the locker.  I do still ear my cheap-o earrings (2 of the 3 pairs...I always leave one pair out til after swimming cause the cap bothers that set)

I had a pair like that from my Grandmom, but they were lost and I sure miss them

They had been through a lot...burned in the trash in her back yard but recovered..my parents threw them out by mistake and we looked thru the garbage and couldn't find them.

Friend-of Harpoon hasn't proposed yet so i can't answer the current question; maybe next season i'll have to worry about it

as for my bad mood, well it's going away - had a great swim and outdoor run today and i'll be picking up my new toy later:

a local BT person is selling a 1-time-used-at-expo trainer and since i'm the last kid on the block to get one i figured it was time - and at a great price!

Now, when i'm feeling agoraphobic i can ride indoors

My response is the same as many- if the water is cold my fingers shrink and my rings fall off so I usually leave them at home.  I will sometimes wear them on a ride but they do bother me sometimes banging things or just from pressure.  Running usually isn't an issue.  As I have lost more weight the rings are getting too big all the time so I am wearing them less. A few years ago I had a jeweler friend melt down my engagement and wedding band, which were a weird twisted shape and had become annoying, and cast them into a new ring.  I might do that again only add some stones I have from old rings that were mine or my mother's.  It is kind of fun to recreate the rings now and again.  This June is my 30th anniversary-OMG, it is hard to believe it has been that long!

Checking in after a few days - again.  Congrats Darren on the new arrival.  When do we get to see a picture and get an updated report on Mom and Daughter?

I wear no jewelry of any kind while working out.  I don't want to risk damaging or losing anything.

I missed my Crossfit workout yesterday and so this morning I ran to Crossfit (5.5 miles) and then did the workout.  Chuck then picked me up and we had breakfast and it was all good.

Tomorrow morning I am getting in my first ocean swim since the La Triathlon last September.   I have a wetsuit that I wore a couple times some years ago, but found that it was more trouble than it was worth.  Tomorrow will be cold enough that I am definitely wearing it.  Now I just have to hope that it still fits me (with the recent weight loss it should) and that I remember how to put it on.  I also plan to bike along Pacific Coast Highway after the swim.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I never train or race with my wedding ring on. I'm afraid to lose it and my husband would prefer that I don't wear it because he's afraid that I'll lose it.
