I weighed in early this week so I could have a few dogs at the game with my son.  Even though I weighed in mid-day, I still managed to lose 2.4 pounds to hit 190.4... So, I've got 11 pounds to go in order to reach my my August 6 goal of 179...

I hope have good results as well!

Hey nice work!

Congratulations.  Those pounds just keep on coming off

I weighed in at 182.3 today. Still haven't gotten rid of all the backslide pounds from the weekend, but did drop 2 from Saturday.  Overall goal is 168.

You are getting there!  I know its a little slow and you still have a bit to go but think of how many pounds you've lost so far!

Speaking of which, how many pounds have you lost?

Speaking of backsliding - tomorrow in "International Beer Night" where my friends and I get together and try different beers of a certain style.  Tomorrow nights style - Hefeweizens... Goo thing I've got a run + swim scheduled!

Question - when you Canadians weigh yourselves - are you allowed to take off your tugue?

eh?

I started at 203.  I've hit 182 plateau for 2 mo. or so.  I've been as low as 178.  I should break into the 170's by next week, or close to it.

Have fun on "international beer night."  It sounds like good times with good friends.  Do they have trader Joe's in your neck of the woods, and if so, have you had the trader Joe's brand Hefe'.  It tastes almost exactly like the stuff I used to drink in Bavaria.  Good stuff.  Everything else I've had has a real North American flavor to it.  Not bad, but different.

That reminds me of when I was in the army 15 or so years ago.  We had "Whiskey night."  3 men, each with a fifth of our favorite whiskey, and we locked ourselves in with whiskey and tunes until the whiskey was all gone.  It was held on Monday night, with the football.  I brought Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey, friends brought Knobb creek, and Jameson.  It only happened 2 times, needless to say, and I'm greatful it doesn't happen any more!

International beer night=good idea

whiskey night=bad idea--ouch!

Still in a holding pattern on weight, although it could be salt and water holding pattern...I am hoping :-)

I have to manage my weekend eating better, as this is where I seem to falter!

All Right - so Kevin and I have posted... Thor?  DH? How's you guys do this week?

Question - when you Canadians weigh yourselves - are you allowed to take off your tugue?

eh?

Ha, yeah, I wish. Still around 5C in the morning here.

Still no scale so I have to wait until I am near one. My diet is going well though. I have been working my mind to be repulsed by all things fatty and sugary.

A secret I found is when I am hungry for something I go peel myself a big massive carrot. Then I eat it. Carrots are great, so filling and the carbs go right in your blood stream so it gives you this nice boost. Most of the time, I eat a carrot, I don't want anything else. If I do. I just go eat another carrot.

Excellent work on dropping 20.  Hitting the 170's again will make it all worth it.  You know what else will make it worth it - when Thor sends us $20 that we can spend on buying beer when he doesn't make his weight goals...  Foot in mouth

I gotta agree with Thor on Whiskey Night... Brutal!  I used to do something similar college (never with anything as good as Knob Creek and Jameson - Jager was my best friend back in those days) and spent some serious time praying to the porcelain god.  You are a braver man than I am...

All I know is that I got 60 bucks set aside for the start of August and I plan on spending it on myself.

Never been in an honest to goodness weightloss competition before so I am not sure to what lengths I would go. I'm not gonna lie though, 4 chili dogs, that is a bit of mistake. I don't even know what a chili dog bar is, I thank my lucky stars I don't work in an environment that awards its employees with food and drink, man I would be fat. Thank god. I am just sequestered in my office eating fruit and oatmeal.

I got it for a steal. Guy had the strangest story. He was an immigrant, someone gave him the bike as a gift, but he didn't need it anymore because he got his driver's license. He looked at me like, "why would anyone want to ride a bike".

Ha. It still has the plastic pedals on it. Looks like it was ridden maybe 50km. Got it for $350. I am going to take the pedals off my tri bike (as I haven't ridden it for going on 3 years). I am going to fly on this thing. No more ladies on mountain bikes passing me on my morning commute (although in fairness that was Monday after the marathon)

feel bad saying bye to my old standby. It is a tank. but it is making some strange noises. I may have to rent a storage shed to keep it in as I fear my wife is going to make me chuck it.

Nice find! Nothing worse then getting chicked on your bike... :-)

That's a sweet ride for a even sweeter price!  You just made what I'm about to do look foolish, but I got a bike gifted to me from my mom, and kind of want to ride it in my first long distance races.

I just ordered a set of T1's to attach to the front of this mid 90's or so ride.  After this, I'm going to go to the LBS and see what more I can do to mess with it and my wallet.  Thinking I'd dump about $300-700 USD into it.  I will need new shifters (There currently mounted on the lower frame bar,) clip on pedals and shoes, and would love to increase the gears on it.  I currently have 10 gears to chose from.  I'd love to give myself 14-24 gears by adding them if possible.  If budget allows after this, I'd look into carbon forks on the front, and new wheels.  A lot of work for an old Cannondale, but the thing fits my short stature frame well, so I'm gonna stick with it for the next 2 years at least.

Kev - 4-6 beers Sounds like a plan... Good luck!  I hear you about the calories... This weekend, I totally fell off the wagon.  My friend from grad school came for a visit and the homebrew was a hit... So, while I made my calories for the week - I was over my calorie count for the each day of the weekend.

Deshutes Brewery - I just did research and found that they distribute it in Wisconsin... I wonder if I can convince my wife to drive that far when we visit Michigan...

I just spent 30 minutes planning a trip to take me out to Minnesota where I could buy some deshutes beer, then spend 3 days taking my youngest son to 3 ball parks (Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Chicago) my oldest son to Lego land in Chicago and then back to our summer place in MI.

Wonder if we could do this.  Is the beer worth it?

Watching a great game 2 of the Stanley cup final.  3rd period, 1-1.  I just finished my first beer of 2 this evening.  Thor, you saved my bacon with that little gemstone of advice to keep em on the shelf warm and they won't be a temptation.

David, I'm drinking  a mirror pond pale ale from deschutes.  If you get a chance this summer to try their pale ale, and their IPA, I'd like to hear your feedback coming from one who has a taste for these kinds of things.

Weighed in at noon today and was 178.8, but it was after a hard sprint, so I'm hoping for good things on Wednesday.

I'd love to be watching hockey - but my tv is on the fritz... so I settled for a trip to the bookstore and a tri magazine (Lava magazine - overpriced and not interesting unless you have a man crush on Lance Armstrong).

I'd also love to be drinking beer - but I had my fill tonight at dinner.  We have a good brew pub out here called John Harvards and their dunkle tonight was outstanding!  I hope to be able to get my hands on some deschutes this summer.  It will be a long drive but I'm trying to convince my wife that it would be worth it...

I hit 188 after my run this morning.  I've been tracking my sweat rate and if I've figured it correctly, I should be around 189.5 with a few days to go before the official weigh-in.  The sweat rate thing - btw - is crazy.  There have been times the last few months when I've gotten really light headed and now I understand why.  On long rides of 3 hours or more - the most I was drinking was 40 oz... but I was sweating at a rate of 24 oz and hour... No wonder I ran out of steam...  Have you guys ever checked because I'd love to know what normal is...

Congrats on the new gear!  How does the thing ride?  More importantly, been passed by a lady since you got the new wheels?

There were times as a wrestler that I would lose 5-6 pounds of water in a 1.5 hr. practice.

I got my first ride to work on it tomorrow, I 'll let you know. Although I did a quick spin on Friday. Sure nice to have a bike with round wheels.

Better add some weight to the saddlebags to account for the easier ride...
