WHAT A WEEKEND!

Saturday morning Keri and I had to be half an hour away by 7:30, she's been working with a batting coach for the past few weeks getting ready for softball. So we were up and out of the house early.

We made a few stops on the way home. We got home, had less than 5 minutes then we jumped in the truck to go watch a niece and nephew play basketball at the community center.

We got home and had about half an hour to grab a bite to eat, then Keri and I went to the HS for a softball clinic. The first hour was batting and fielding. Then the second hour if you were interested in pitching or catching you could stay. Keri does both. Keri worked with the pitchers, since she has less experience there. She looked good! They split them into 2 groups, those who have pitched in games, and those who haven't but want to. She went with the second group. I love the sound of her pitches hitting the catchers glove. One of the high school girls told Keri she throws as hard as the high schoolers. After the clinic the guy who will be her coach this year told her that next week he wants her working with the experienced pitchers.

I was talking to some moms, and coaches while the girls were practicing. This is a new team for us this year, and I was concerned about Keri's playing time. They were doing most of the talking, I was doing a lot of listening. I was told though that after watching Keri play last year (her new team had 1 loss last year and it was to the team Keri was on), and hearing about her from other coaches, that she is their starting catcher. I think she'll get to pitch, too. I hope she does well. She goes to the clinic next week, then practices will officially start in March.

We got home from softball, had about an hour then we were off to Caleb's last basketball game.

Caleb holds back. He wants to dribble more. He wants to shoot more. He wants to be more aggressive. He just doesn't do it. He holds back. It was his last game and I told him to leave it all one the court. He did.

He scored 4 points, had I think 5 assists, several steals and rebounds. He had a BEAUTIFUL play where he went up for a rebound and just tapped the ball right back up into the hoop. The next time he scored he actually made a move and faked a guy out then shot. The one time he stole the ball his teammate had sprinted down court, Caleb looked up and threw the ball the length of the court, the other kid caught it and went right up for the layup. He had several other similiar plays, but the one the length of the court was the best. He couldn't have played any better. They won by 10 to finish their season 9-5. Not too bad in a very competitive league.

And then on Sunday was Keri's game.

Keri has 2 coaches, I do not like either of them. The head coach has given me this creepy vibe all season. I found out on Saturday he's done time in prison for embezzlement. I'm not sure how he's coaching the girls because I thought they did background checks. She wanted to coach softball where she's playing and they denied him. Her other coach is the one who subs the girls in, he plays his daughter a lot and she's not that good. She is also a little brat.

Anyway... Keri's team has only won 2 games all year, and they've had some games where they only score 1 or 2 points. Yesterday's game ended 16-16 in overtime. I can't take games like that! The other team had 1 little girl that was GOOD. She was fast, she could handle the ball, she could shoot, and she was aggressive. At the end of the regular game the coach did put Keri in to guard her on defense. Keri plays defense like nobody's business. Keri shut her down. It was actually the best I'd seen Keri's team play all year. They passed the ball, some games they don't. The girls were aggressive. They shot the ball, some games they don't. It was a good game.

Keri has a game next Sunday, then her season is over, too.

That's my weekend in a nutshell.

Dang, Ann. Any sports in your kids lives?  I am glad that the boy opened up on the court. I bet his smile was from ear to ear! Keri is just an animal!

Dee. GREAT run and fantastic on the weight loss. You have found a treasure trove of mojo!

Good morning, Robin.

He did have a pretty big smile on his face. He's usually pretty stoic, so I was happy to see him smiling. At one time out when they were in a huddle he was jumping up and down. He told me he was so pumped he just wanted to get back out there.

How was your weekend?

Very low energy and very low key. We had a wine tasting dinner on Friday that was tons of fun and GREAT food and wine. Saturday, we went to Asheville to do some chores and visit my husbands old toy store that just moved to a larger store, then visited the Biltmore house (grounds) because it was a pretty day. Yesterday, I did laundry, cut out my dress/costume for the mardi gras party this weekend and napped. I wanted to do some training but it just isn't happening yet. Hopefully today. I NEED to get some of Dee's mojo.

If we come down in August, and so far it's looking like we will be able to, I'm bringing a few bottles of wine from a local winery for you guys. The scrapple (cranberry apple) is my favorite.

I am looking forward to it... and the wine, too

Ann - sounds like you and your kids had an awesome weekend sports wise. 

Robin - sounds like you had a great weekend also.  Biltmore grounds are great to walk/ride around on.

Dee - hope you had a fantastic weekend.  Did you ever get in a swim?  I did not.

My weekend.

Friday - paid bills, did the taxes, baked cookies, got a new storm door installed.

Saturday - Motorcycle chapter fun day.  this is what the cookies were for.  It was a Mardi Gras theme, and we had a good time.  Good attendance, so our fundraising looks like it went well.  Then that night we went out to see Identity Theft.  It was at the Studio Movie Grill, where they bring your dinner to you while you watch the movie.  The food was better than I expected, so we were quite pleased.  Have since bought two more discount tickets to go back.

Sunday - we had a quiet morning, then went for a motorcycle ride, lunch out.  Once back home, I made muffins and blueberry bars.  I used oat flour that I made from the oatmeal instead of wheat flour.  I think they all came out pretty good if I do say so myself.  And staff are eating them here, so they must be okay.

Today I will be interviewing staff for the part time position that I have open.  Hope we get a good one out of these candidates.

I slept in this morning because I had a lot of trouble going to sleep last night. Bah!

I have to leave for work in just a few minutes.

Ann - You have such super busy weekends!  That is so cool to hear that your son finally let go out on the court!  Hopefully that will help change his attitude in the future.  Sounds like Keri had a great weekend too!

Robin - I don't know why I suddenly am back into the training but it does feel good.  I hope that you are finally kicking your illness!

Kendra - I envy your motorcycle rides.  We haven't been out in a looong time.  We just have too many hobbies, I think.  I didn't get my swim in on Friday because my schedule wound up filling in so that I didn't have a break.  Now hoping for tomorrow, but it all depends on the work schedule.

Interviews are over.  We are going to promote someone in-house, actually in-branch.  She did an awesome job in the interview, and I admitted to the HR person that I was a harder judge on this person than the other three, and she still wowed me. 

So, once they finish with all the paperwork I will still have two positions that we need to hire for.  One to replace the one that got fired, and one for the person being promoted. 

That is great Kendra. Looks like you have some more interviews in your future.

deehtz - 2013-02-11 10:01 PM Last Friday I didn't swim because I took an appointment during the time I was going to swim.  Today I wasn't going to swim because I had a pretty full day.  But someone canceled last minute and left me time enough to swim!  Guess it all evens out!

The sun is out today. Yea! I get so low energy when the sun is hidden for days.

I actually ran (on the tread mill) yesterday!!  I can feel it a little bit in my lungs today. Out with the bad, I say. I hope to get another short run in today.  Fingers crossed!

Today is a rest day for me unless somebody cancels at work.  But I am okay with resting today, I think I need it.

Yeah Robin! 

Do you ever use essential oils?  I use DoTerra brand -- very high quality.  They have a blend called Breathe.  I put a drop on my chest before I run and it makes a big difference to how my lungs feel.  It helps with my allergies too.

Morning Dee.  A rest day is good. You have been doing a bunch lately and you can't keep going without resting up.

I will look into that product. I don't use anything as of now, but I could certainly use some help since this is such a chronic issue.
