It's the start of a new week.  Is everyone out there getting their first peach for the week.  Do I hear a resounding YES!  Awesome!  Way to go team.  Let's keep the lead.

Can I count a nap as a peach?

That's what I really need....

Does it involve stretching when you wake up... b/c then that would be a peach....

Yes, but I almost bruised my peach...  twisted knee getting off the trainer.... then my skewer almost completely slipped out of the trainer securements....  ooopps

Yikes! Glad you're okay.

Put in an hour run today for a peachy peach peach.

Hm. I don't need to taser you today.... You're inflicting enough torture on yourself, without me....

How's the knee? Is this the one that's been bothering you?

Hey Peeps!!  I am very happy to say that I survived today without drowning and had a great time.  The weather was really crappy but the ocean was a hell of a lot warmer than the pool here on Post has been ~ thank goodness since it was cloudy and rainy.  I am so very happy to know now that I WILL survive my swim come time for my first tri (in May.

Again, thank you for all the luck wished upon me!

Yay!!!  What a nice confidence booster!  Come May you will smoke the field!

That would be nice!!

Great job!!!   Did you run first, then swim?  Seems odd...

I thought the same thing but this being my first season of these types of races I just figured it was standard for a biathlon, no?!

YEAH YEAH YEAH YOU!  THAT'S AWESOME.

survived the SWIM, did ya?

whats your secret?

any advice.  im looking at a Sprint Tri at the end of June, but SCARED YOU KNOW WHATLESS ABOUT THE OPEN WATER SWIM....

youve given me COURAGE to go out and DO IT.

you didnt drown, i wont either!!!!!

GOOD GOIN'.

Thank you!!  And Thank you for sharing ~ that makes me feel really good...to know that I've given YOU the courage as I was scared to death.  I'll admit that when I came into the transition area I started walking and just kept repeating to myself, "it's ok, you can do this."  Walking down to the water, I must have told that to myself (yes, out loud!) a hundred times!   While in the water, every time I started getting anxious (because I felt like I wasn't moving, because just being in the ocean kind of freaked me out, or because I literally got swam over a few times) I would tell myself to calm down and would tell myself again that I could do it!

D001 - 2009-03-08 1:55 AM I *heart* Daylight Savings time. But it's 1:54 AM here now, which means in a few minutes, it'll be 2:54 AM.... which means I'll be very tired tomorrow.

I'm not a big fan of daylight savings time.  It annoys me.

It's only nice in the Spring when you gain an hours sleep BUT being over here, I don't have to worry about it as we don't do it!

THIS will remember.  mind if i borrow your most excellent self-talk - its ok you can do this, its ok you can do this.

and getting swum over, oh my....i think thats part of what keeps me up at night, that and getting calf cramp, or getting kick (though ive heard that's the 'fun' of it) and just the general sense of dread i feel at the thought of DYING!!!!

an open water swim in the ocean, that takes GUTS, and YOU DID IT YOU DID IT YOU DID IT.  HAPPY HAPPY DANCE for you.  that was SOME accomplishment!!!  im scared of some placid, flat water lake open water swim....that's like swimming in a bathtub compared to what you just DID!  HUGE.

YOURE MY HERO (im so not kidding....)

Yes, but I almost bruised my peach...  twisted knee getting off the trainer.... then my skewer almost completely slipped out of the trainer securements....  ooopps

we should COMPARE bruises.

when i was out on Saturday i was on the trail, and there is one section where several times the trail crosses over roads.

got to an intersection, car was coming, thought i could make it across, thought wiser of it, but my shoes, and pedals and the ground were wet from the rain, and i almost didnt get my foot out of the clipless pedal in time.

in an effort to free my foot before i went KABOOM [Erica, i refuse to be the cyclist that falls.  smile] i contorted my body in such a way that somehow i smacked my knee AND the opposite shin on the bike frame.

HOW IN THE.....

better a bruise than to be cyclist roadkill.  mental note to self, never try and outrun a moving vehicle, you LOSE everytime.

and who knew triathlon was a CONTACT SPORT??

hope your knee is aaaaalllllllll better.

Triathlon is totally a contact sport! Ever seen an OWS?

Even when I haven't had any mishaps that come to mind, I have these mysterious bruises and scratches and bumps.

I think you gain hours in the Fall and lose hours in the Spring (we went from 1 - 3 on Sunday night). Right now it feels way earlier than it actually is.

They're called clipless because they don't have toe clips.

This was an endless source of confusion to me for a long time!

I wonder if the phrase "clipping in" actually referred to putting your feet into the pedals' toe clips, but then just got transferred to mean clipping into clipless pedals.

I have often wondered the same things.  The only thing I can think of is that Toe Clips are called clips so they call the "clip in" pedals clipless.

Hey peeps!  I have a 45 minute trainer ride and a long swim on the plan for today.  I would have liked to have one or the other done by now but that wasn't in the cards this morning.  I had to get a new military ID card this am and that always takes a long time.  This afternoon, hubby and I are going out to lunch.  So, I think I shall try to swim after lunch and trainer tonight maybe??  I hate to have to ride the trainer after such a nice weekend!   But alas, it's raining out.  Crapolla!  Hopefully tomorrow's hour ride shall be outside!
