Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: November CRUSHERS QueenZipp - 2010-11-24 12:21 AM Yanti! How's things? Well uh well uh ... hate to cross-post but here goes. Okay well see the storm of the century (or at least decade or year) is hitting (not sure how long my Internet connection will last here, either) ... Lightning hit something in my sister's hood and knocked electricity out for miles, unfortunately, phone lines were out too and no cell connection. I scrounge up a flashlight, a lighter, a designer gift candle (sorry, sis) and a cigar, and sit there smoking it because, well, there's nothing else to do. I wrote a couple pages for the novel. The flashlight's gonna run out of battery and the candle won't stay lit in the wild wind. Closing the doors and windows wuold have been ridiculous because it's oppressively hot anyway, even in the rain. Even the house ghosts got scared and decided to come keep me company. So it's me, the ghosts, her giant Dogo and her skanky Bali dog all crowded together on a lounge. I realized it was probably safer to stay put, but something just didn't feel right. So I tore outta there in the blithering rain and lightning, driving backwards all the way down my sister's street (only way to get out; nowhere to turn) in pitch black. The headlight reflections only make it worse. There is not a dog or another vehicle out on the streets and here that is a very bad sign. Electricity's out for miles. My car is sliding all over the road and visibility is ridiculous. There's masses of debris, fallen trees etc. everywhere. I just drove really carefully and slowly and had to go with my gut. Repeat for forty minutes. I actually get ahead of the storm, but it's about to break here. the Kitty Cats are glued to me and as usual I cannot fart them off. Suicide sticks her claws in me every time it thunders. Lisa has learned how to nod in my absence, but that's a different story. And she's taught the cats to rub her tummy. So we'll see how the storm breaks up here. I'm on a mountaintop so lightning tends to hit a lot of stuff here. |

I had "perfected(?)" 3 stoke with bilateral breathing. I could do it in the pool for 20 minutes at a time, and I did it in lakes several times over the summer. The day of the race I did a warm up swim with great form. I should have been a mid/mid-back of packer... Instead I don't know what the heck happened and I just could not get my breathing under control. I dog paddled alternating with a pathetic 1 arm stoke with face forward breathing. I was the last person in my wave to get out of the water, but on the upside I was a mid packer in the next wave!! LOL |
