Yes, I think this tapering thing is driving me crazy.  I didn't think it would be bad, since it is just for a half.  But, I am going stir-crazy!  I feel tired and lazy!  Last night I sat on the couch like a slug and all I wanted to do was eat!

Thanks for the well-wishes!  Yes, everyone please come out and watch!  The more people cheering us on the better!  Smile

Not that I will probably see you, but what is your bib number?

QueerDrummer - 2011-05-11 12:01 PM QOTD: Hmmm...I don't feel emersed enough to even know what my criteria for a "dream race" would be, and I'm not familiar enough with what's out there to have a specific race in mind. I think, though, that it would be an international race. My dad was born & raised in the UK but has never been back in my lifetime. Going there is one of my biggest dreams, so I think doing a Mid-Distance Tri in the UK would be pretty freaking incredible. Just checked out the British Triathlon Federation website and there are tons of races to choose from. SOME DAY!!!

Thanks! I had an awesome day and even went for a 3 mile run even though it meant the guys waited for me to shower before we could eat. LOL It was *my* birthday and I wanted to *run*! :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Enjoy your day!!

She was swimming in the lane with 2 other people. The person in front of her stopped. When she went around she didn't see the other person coming toward her and they collided. She's got to go to the ear nose and throat doc today. They haven't set it yet or anything.

I am officially a half marathoner!  I had such a great time this weekend at the race.  I didn't think the race would ever get here, I have been so excited.  I felt great the entire run and met my goal time!  Who could ask for more than that?  It was a very fun run, there were people everywhere - both runners and support.  I have never done a race with 18,000 people before and it was crazy!  It took me 15 minutes just to get to the start line.  And the entire course, for all 13.1 miles was crowded.  But the support was incredible with people cheering and bands playing.  It certainly kept my energy up!  I did a quick race report, nothing fancy, but here it is:

Hi guys!! I'm still here---life has been SO BUSY! I am sure you all understand! I was at the race---I was the girl with the pained look on her face the entire time because it did not go well for me...but I finished and that is what matters. I actually have a blog and did a full recap there.... http://sarahtriestorun.wordpress.com I just don't know what happened---I was so excited going into the race and (thought) I did everything right---I tapered, I ate right, I got a lot of sleep, I had a good breakfast, and I did about a 10 minute warm up jog to the start.

I had high hopes for this race and lined up with the 2:00 pace group. From the very start though I knew something was off....the first mile went surprisingly well (8:50) which was crazy considering the crowds but my legs just felt SO HEAVY. They were so tight and I felt like I was running through cement. I was hoping that they would loosen up as the race went on but they just never did. My breathing was really heavy and I could NOT get my legs moving any faster but I also couldn't get my heart rate up! I think it stayed at around 140 the whole race (when usually in a race its around 170). It was really bizarre and when I walked through the first water station I lost my pace group and never caught up with them again. I really struggled through miles 5-8...honestly I would have cried if I had the energy but I didn't. I just kept digging really deep and pulling myself through. I walked some of the hills and all of the water stations. I think I was very dehydtrated because I was getting dizzy and was very thirsty. I took 2 gaterade and 2 waters at each stop.

After mile 8 my legs finally started coming around and since I had given up on a time goal I just tried to have fun---I gave high-5s to the spectators, thanked all the volunteers, and encouraged runners that I saw struggling. My energy never came though and I couldn't even sprint to the finish like I usually do. The winner of the marathon came across the final bridge right when I was which was cool to see and we all cheered for him. My final time was 2:12 (garmin read 13.4mi) but I was really upset about my time. I know that isn't a bad time at all and I'm not dimishing the accomplishment of running 13.1 miles but I know that I am capable of a lot more. I wanted to beat my last half marathon time of 2:04 and really wanted to break 2:00 but it just wasn't the day for it. I'm not giving up though---I will definitely reach my goals soon! For now...the focus is on my triathlon!
