Z1 trainer ride this morning but too cold to run outside.  I'll get on the treadmill for 4 miles tonight.

Hoping the weather cooperates for my half marathon on Sunday, looks like there might be "wet snow" in the forecast.

Is it fair to use my post run weight for my weekly weight? if so I was 210.6. If not i'll weight myself again in the am.

really doesn't matter - you should just weigh yourself under consistently the same conditions

I'm at 223, post weights eveyone (I have pbrown and uncoog)

Happy tuesday, got about 55 minutes of a 1 hour ride in this morning, kids were up before 6 as usual.

I posted mine Sunday AM...210

5k run today without pain.  HECK YEAH!!!!

Therapist tore apart my running form yesterday.  Main issues are I over stride as I pickup speed instead of increasing cadence and I tend to let my left foot turn out as I run at faster speeds and/or tire.  She said she's surprised I've never had shin splints from the torque I put on my knee.  Focused on keeping my foot square and striking underneath me today and no pain.

We'll extend it out to 4 miles on my next go.

As the weight loss journey goes I'm glad to see my body bounce back from a week of eating cookies and cupcakes for my daughter's bday.  Of course rodeo time is right around the corner and anyone who has been to a fair here in Texas knows the diet dangers that presents.  Oh I can see my top 4 abs coming in.  That's a first in like ever.

Cold run this morning - 4 miles according to my plan.  Had to break out the balaclava for this one - it was 19F without wind chill.  Tomorrow is 9 miles but hopefully it will be warmer too.

Tonight I go for funny looks from the wife - I'm breaking out the rollers for my first ever indoor ride, on them or anything.  Hopefully I'll get 30 minutes in without killing myself or breaking too much stuff in the house.  I expect it to be like my first time snowboarding.  I spent a lot of time near and with my snowboard, but very little time actually snowboarding and more time sitting, thinking, falling, tumbling and cursing.

I got in 1:30 on the trainer yesterday watching Wolverine X men for the 5th time.  I am totally un-motivated right now.  I thought a light week would restore my motivation but the cold/wind this weekend and not MFing snow is killing me.  Think i'll give up training for hibernation or cross fit

Nice job on the trainer!

I find that those "light weeks" tend to un-motivate me. For me, my training seems to be more "momentum based": The more I stay with it - the easier it is to maintain. If I back off, I find it real hard to get back in the swing of things.

The power of the mind is a crazy thing.... I just wish mine would stop working against me!

Proud of myself a bit. Meeting all day yesterday and again today, but last night I skipped going out to dinner with everyone and hit the pool instead for a 2500 yd swim. And I beat my best total time with rests by about 10 minutes, too.

Also have you thought about using HR in conjunction with watts for your biking zones.  The problem I find with watts alone is that they don't account for other stresses on your body, whereas HR does.  For example if you are feeling fantastic, your HR during a workout may actually be lower than normal or if you feel horrible it may be higher.  By using HR you are able to take into account all the stress your body is dealing with.  With watts there is no accounting for body stress.

I really try to gauge my "effort" based on all the data I have available (HR, Power, Perception). The power meter is a new tool for me and I am still in the stages of learning how to use it.

pbrown70 - 2011-02-20 5:57 PM Back from sobe (south beach) in miami I got a nice run in yesterday. I ran for and hour on the the beach . I'm guessing about 6-7 miles. I couldnt workout today due to a case of whiplash! Eat way to much.....
Whiplash? Are you OK?

I didn't really get whiplash it was meant to be a joke as there were so many things to look at on south beach.

LOL - Gotcha!

I was back at my alma mater (Purdue) last year and got in a few runs around campus... I felt like a dirty old man!

Took advantage of the day off from one of my jobs yesterday while my wife had to work...

Swam 4000 yards, biked 21 miles (outside!), then ran 7 miles.

I saw two coyotes on my run (they never bother me - but, I always keep an eye on them). I also underestimated the amount of daylight I had left in the day. I found myself about 5 miles into my run wishing I had my headlamp. At 6 miles, in a particularly nasty section of trail, I caught a rock, went down, and tagged my knee. It hurt pretty good for the next 1/2 mile but seemed to work itself out. I was sure that it would be sore today... but, it actually feels decent.

Ok I thought I'd try some yoga.... One of the women at the office told me she does it all the time and that she does hot yoga. So I siad I don't mind the heat and I'd love to try it. Well if you have never done yoga before Bicrum (not sure of spelling)yoga is quite challenging 1. you need to be some what flexable which I thought I was and you need to be able to stand 105 degree temp. for 90 minutes. while I made it through the class I had to lay on my back for about 15 minutes to regain my barings. The good news was I wasn't the only new person they were a little worst off one of them almost passed out a couple of times. SICK and yes I told them I'd love to do it again. I

Bikram is good -- impressive making it through 90 minutes your first time out.  Just remember to bring lots of water.
