Question for TAN.

Should I sign-up for 3M half marathon or the LiveStrong Half Marathon

(Why's this in TAN? I'm getting there)

Should I sign-up for a corporation with a questionable environmental standards record or a foundation with a questionable founder?

Don't get me wrong, I love post-its and I'm still a big Lance Fan, but I feel a little let-down compared to my last several races that all seemed to be about something pure.

maybe you should find a more ethical race to run.  perhaps you can get behind the pennsylvania dutch?

http://www.uberendurancesports.com/races.html

nothing questionable about beer and brats and lederhosen!

My wife's german.  I love german things. Especially Beer unt Brats unt lederhosen (Aren't lederhosen Austrian?).  But I was looking closer to Austin.

I'm thinking 3M just because then I have to train through the holidays (not really since I think I can go out and muscle through a 13 miler any time) but it'll give me an excuse to get out and train.

Goody-bags sound good too.  I keep hearing about that.

Just put the wife on a plane to London.  Let the Brits deal with her for a while.  Traveling is always a chaotic and stressfull time at our house.

I don't know why, but that cracks me up...

I get a pretty funny image in my head of her getting off the plane and bothering everyone...

And I don't even know a thing about your wife.

I'm sad I won't be in London to take care of your wife again.

I had so much fun with her the past two times she visited.

lisac957 - 2012-11-01 12:25 PM Just registered for Ironman #3! Cool

Which one? Vineman?

Yessir!

Jealous...and I am just doing my first Oly in a week (and first HM in Feb), so long time before my first IM. But with my love of wine, Vineman is one of those "wanna do" races for me.

Whe could use it.  I was supposed to take care of her last night, but didn't.

She is planning to hit the wine bar by herself - or grab some band members.  Apparently, some Irish guy is already hitting her up to go out at the Vegas Airport - he's going to London too.

Morning Cheri, Cord, Tony, and other notable TANners!

The day after Halloween doesn't seem significant.  My tales of escorting a Ninja and Ladybug throughout Casa Grande are seemingly mundane the day after.

Is it Casa Grand or Casa Grand-ay?

Depends on who you ask.  Locals say Grand (unless Spanish is your native tongue).  I say it both ways just to screw with people.  Snowbirds say Grand-ay most of the time trying to sound like they know Spanish.  Zonies usually just say CG.  Makes it easier!  How do Monica's parents say it?

I can't imagine...

The wife is already running around a 6am "WHERE'S MY IPHONE CHARGER!  WHERE'S MY IPHONE CHARGER! WHERE'S MY IPHONE CHARGER!!!"

And such....  It's like that on every trip and we are litterally at each other throats but all is well when we finally get on the road and past the point of "we have gone too far to turn around - we'll just buy it there"...  Know that point?

Hmmm. Never though of putting my kids on a plane to London and letting the Brits deal with them for a while. I have to say it sounds good.

Well, maybe I should check with authorities if I can get in trouble for sending a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old alone in an airplane to a foreign country.

OMG we played that the other day because we had an experience that seriously almost put me over the edge.

We were talking about going out to a club...   "I haven't seen a club in years cuz of the kids.  Must be nice".  Then we talked about going out to a move.  "we haven't been able to see a movie in years, cuz of the kids, must be nice"... "we haven't had a peacefull meal ever since the baby was born"...

You know, no one said you had to have kids.  I'm tired of being made to feel guilty for having fun because I chose not to to this point in my life..

I was so angry because we met up with a couple and their baby who was being fussy for breakfast.  Totatlly ruined.  They took turns going outside (which WAS nice), but then had to answer all the same questions twice, tell the same stories twice, be done with our meal as theirs is untouched.  And THEN they say "our baby is so good, he is NEVER like this"  SURE he's not.

Rant over.

Teejaay - 2012-11-01 1:21 PM Speaking if kids. I think I may have offended a bunch of people this morning when I said I was glad nobody tricks or treats at my house because I don't like kids.

doesn't offend me at all.  who would be offended by that??  i know plenty of people that don't hand out candy for whatever reason.  it's not like it's health insurance and you'll get taxed if you don't participate.

(see what i did there?)

We only had one visitor because we had the lights off.  Not sure why they would give it a shot, the little more ons...

Oh, and we didn't answer.  I guess I COULD have and just asked what they wanted?

They were offended because they have little kids and took it as some sort of personal affront on THEIR kids. And yes ....I saw what you did there.

well let's be honest...do their kids suck?

It's weird.  I think people get offended when someon doesn't like what YOU like/love.  It takes getting smart or old, to not care.  If someone wanted to rant and rave about how stupid triathlon is, I wouldn't get offended anymore.  They just don't like it, I do, who cares either way?

My wife is probably the best mom in the world, but she doesn't like other people's kids.  She may like her best-friends' kids, but generally she doesn't like other people's kids.

I don't know why other people would be offended that you don't like their kids considering I don't like my own sometimes.  I love them all the time, but sometimes, I don't like them much...

Who said we must all like kids? That ain't in the USAT rulebook!

Best news EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, maybe not the best.  And really, barely just average...

BUT, the one day I'm exhausted and don't want to be here, is the ONE day the boss is taking out a client golfing and will be gone for the rest of the day.  Lazy day for me and an early departure!

Jim totally agree with your rant.  having kids is NOT a  trump card for friends not going out and having fun.  "they" just need to find a child care option but that too is sometimes a challenge.   we learned that and adjusted.

The bigger question is other than race prep and work what are your plans to occupy the time until she gets back?
