I finished in about an hour 45 minutes, despite having the chain come off the bike in the middle of a hill, and doing a lot of walking on the run. Congratulations, Triathlete!!!!! |

Trek 2200 last year was pink. Why do I know this? Because my bike guru called me today concerned about my taste in bike accessories and the current color schemes (my frame needs to be replaced) and wanted to know how he should handle this and suggested the pink frame. I haven't looked at it yet. It's highly concerning. |

There's a hole in my bike frame (dear Sparco, dear Sparco... you're welcome, I know that tune will be stuck in your head now). It's probably always been there, just sort of a random thing at the weld. Doesn't cause a problem but it shouldn't be there. There's a picture of it in Friday's blog.

Do you think you get a lot more from silver than the bronze? Yes, I definitely do. I was a bronze member for awhile but really wanted to have more specifics on my training plans. It really depends on what you are looking for in terms of training plans and what your goals are. I think I became more serious about a training plan when I started training for different distances for different sports all at once and wasn't sure how to balance that (except that I made Sal tell me). I am also happy to be a member not just for access to plans but also to like support BT because I think it's an invaluable resource. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Worst haircut of my life today. Usually have thick wavy hair. Asked for a trim. Short on the sides is normal, but all of a sudden the razor was at the middle of my head trimming that short too. Now I look like a Marine with 1/8 inch long hair all over. Definitely not a good look for me. Oh well my hair grows fast. |

I kinda just didn't say much about it but Exhibit A was on him right away: "Did you get your hair cut that way on purpose?" Gotta love kids.

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed ---Your local bike shop won't be in love with this, but it doesn't appear to be a serious threat. A new website called Chainlove.com is selling closeout bike gear at a deep discount -- but only one product at a time. A quantity-remaining countdown is displayed along with an estimate of how long it'll take the item to sell out. When we checked on Wednesday, the big deal was 43 4-packs of Sock Guy women's cycling socks for $10.99, which was said to be 72% below the regular retail price. According to a press release, "Chainlove vendors favor the one-deal-at-a-time model because it gives them a retail outlet that doesn't showcase their items in an off-price print catalog to sit around for months looking pathetic and unloved. The limited-time availability forces people to act, so the gear sells lightning fast. . . We present a value proposition for bike junkies and they scramble for closeout gear. We're having a party, not a funeral." ---Saddle authority Joshua Cohen (author of the eBook Finding the Perfect Bicycle Seat) likes to keep up with what's new in his favorite product category. While surfing saddle-maker websites he visited Selle SMP and got a shock: The Italian company is showing bib shorts with what appears to be a full-length zipper through the crotch. The idea is to make it much easier to take natural breaks during a ride, particularly for women. Says Josh, "I don't think the shorts are even suggested for saddles that don't have a gigantic hole in the top, like the SMP line, to accommodate the zipper, but I think RBR readers might find the design interesting, if not startling." Illustrations show the zipper's advantage in action, but beware that this is not a user-friendly site. It requires a PDF download of 13.8 MB. Then look in the thumbnail images till you find the shorts with the open crotch. http://www.sellesmp.com ______________________________________ |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Ok what is the secret? After my swim today, I went to the end of the lane and practiced somersaulting in the water as a precursor to flip turns. No water up the nose as I exhaled the whole time, but every time I did a flip I wound up facing the lane line, and my left shoulder was facing the wall I should be pushing off on. No I did not try to plant my feet on the wall yet. That would be step two, if I ever wound up facing the right way. |
