That ride sounds awesome.  I'm still waiting for most of the snow next to the roads to melt so there's no residual ice on the road in the morning.  I can only stand so long on the trainer.

Anyone have any good recommendations for action movies that are on instant Netflix?  I've been going through a ton of them and need more options.

Thanks guys all for posting the material you have. I have done some research online as well as called back home. Both my father and grandfather both have A-Fib, but when I talked to my mother she doesn't believe I have that, but maybe SVT, but of course has not ruled it out. I scheduled an appointment with my doctor so hopefully I can get some tests ran and dig deeper into this matter asap. As I said before this has happened with about 10 or so episodes in the past year, randomly, without warning, but only now I am getting it looked at. Should be interesting and now I am more curious then anything else. I will keep everyone updated as to what is going on after my doctors visit.

27.75 miles in about 1:35. Kept an 18mph pace for the first 24+ miles before slowing for a cool-down. It's not as fast as I'd like to be, but it's certainly a lot better than two months ago. It's amazing what going from mountains to low, rolling hills will do for average speed.

Went out for my first outdoor run of the season (since Jan 1) the other day.  Felt so good to get out, and running with my Garmin for the first time was awesome!  So nice not to be tied down to planned routes!  Just finished a short run on the treadmill, going next week's planned 5k race pace (6:31/mile) for 10min, and felt great!

And, I dipped under 180lbs to 179.5lbs this week!

Dave - just read the race reports!  Insane!  I'm looking for my first sub-20 5k, and here you are, rocking sub-20 splits on a 10k, in the wind and rain

Nice work Jason....I'm still fighting off the frozen drinks from last weekend.  Hopefully breaking 190 by next week.

Bunch of news for me.

I'm probably selling my specialized road bike (already have a buyer waiting to pay me) for a new CAAD10.  Just tested it out on 2 rides today and fell in love.  I'll be getting a team discount, on the bike, and probably means I'll be doing some serious road racing this summer.  I've got my eyes on a 10k foot climb to the top of Haleakeala in August.

My hemorrhoid is still there...but just recently the pain and discomfort has greatly subsided.  I'm going to try and run tomorrow...where at it's worst point...walking was a chore.  After a lot of online research...exercise shouldn't prevent the healing process.  It may be uncomfortable...but won't make it worse.

Lastly...Hawaii has just gone under a Tsunami warning due to the 8.9 earthquake off of Japan.  I live well above sea level in the heights, so no worries there.  But my office is at sea level in the Tsunami warning zone.  So a bit of wait and see there.  Earliest a tsunami can hit is 3am.

We've been lucky recently.  The last few years we have had similar warnings, but nothing major came of it.  Water rushed out...but just filled itself back up without a real "wave".

Hopefully you're far enough away that the energy from the quake will have dissipated by the time it gets to the islands.

Tsumani avoidance zen heading your way!

And congrats on the new bike too.

Seems like the worst has passed.  The state took some damage...mostly in harbor areas where the energy of the water gets magnified and also where more waterfront property can be damaged.

There were reports in some areas where fish were actually flopping around on the road, but the water never reached "too far" inland to jeopardize any lives.

Glad to hear nothing major and nothing that really affected you.

In reference to that bike...I love cannondales.  My roadie is a CAAD 9 Pro 2007 and the thing takes a serious beating.  It's very stiff and relatively light.  Obviously it's aluminum, so the ride quality could be a little more compliant.  I'm actually looking into a Cervelo R3 right now.  I want to switch over to carbon and it looks like that's one of the bikes that will actually have a long enough head tube for my tall gangley a$$.

Bike: 20 miles, 1:17:46. I added a short, steep hill that sucked. Really hurt. It felt like chlorine was injected into my quads. I guess I need to ride that hill more often.

Got in a 56.5 mile ride avging 19.6.  It was really windy today...well...actually just normal windy.  We've been spoiled the last 4-6 weeks as the normal trade winds haven't been blowing until this week.  Started to cramp up in both my quads the last 5 miles.

Immediately followed that with a round of golf.  Just messing around with some friends.  Nearly made my first hole in one.  Stuck a 120 yard shot a foot from the pin...one small hop and it lipped out of the cup.  AHHH!!!!  Still had fun though...even though I was wildly inconsistant.  I suppose that's what happens when you spend all your time training instead of practicing at the range.

Work is sending me into the middle-of-nowhere for two weeks. I'll be back home once a week, but the other six days/week I expect to have limited internet access, if at all. I'll log-in when I get the chance. I've used the 'net at this other facility a few times and it's all messed-up. There's nothing like trying to upload an Excel file and it freezes the terminal.

In the meantime, I'm kinda happy with these last two weeks. I wanted to get another BRick in this week, but I didn't give myself enough time. I still have a physical therapy session to make up for this week, and I really wish I had a pool available.

In a conversation with my sister yesterday, we got to thinking about zombies (it mixed with her algebra final really well). So, everyone is always running AWAY from zombies. What if zombies were to behave like dogs when someone were to turn around and run at THEM. Imagine the zombies stopping in confusion and not knowing what to do, maybe even turning and running away.

What we hear:
"uuuhhhhrrrrrrgggg, brrrraaaaiiinnnsss"

What they're saying:
"What the heck is he doing?"
"I don't know. Holy carp, he's attacking us. What do WE do?"
"Heck, I don't know"
"Quick, play dead!"

So I got up at 7 to get my brick in today, so that I could get my "chores" done and then be able to sit on the couch from 1-9pm for ACC championship and bracketology.

My internet took a crap for about 5-6 days.  It's amazing how much you miss it when you are relegated to browsing on your phone.  My sausage fingers are not blackberry keyboard compatible so posting is futile.

Got in a nice 11 mile run today.  There were a few slower people in our group, so lots of stopping at water fountains to let them catch up.  My actual running pace was about 8:21 though.

First tri of the season is next Sunday.  Going to try and get in the ocean tomorrow for my first OWS since July.

Anyone interested in a SRAM Force standard crank (BB30, 170mm)?  The CAAD10 I'm having built has this crank, so it's brand new, but the shop is ordering me a compact (luckily at employee price)...so I'm going to try and sell the standard just to recoup the expense of the compact.  Cannondale is completely out of CAAD10's at the factory...so I'm getting the last one in my size.

I'd rock the standard...but a few races I have my eyes on are 9-10k foot climbs.

Good luck on the tri tomorrow!

I have my first race of the season this Saturday, a local 5k.  I'd really like to get close to 20min, and I don't feel like I've pushed myself yet (PR is 21:49).  For those of you who use HR, how high should I push for a 5k?  My HR categories are on my training log, and I think LT was around 180 on that (tested last year).  I tend to stay around 165bpm on "easy" runs if that helps...

Looks like things are going well all around!

Spring is finally on its way here, we got out on the water for practice tonight and all went well.

As far as my training is going, i've got in 7 or so hours on the bike in past week, great first week back and cant wait to actually be able to get training full time there.

yesterday morning i ran a 5mi TT with two friends over the offroad turkey trot course from thanksgiving.
We ran yesterday at a hard but controlled pace, i'd say 90% or so of what could be done for that distance. No sprint, no heaving at the end, but solid and hard.

For the race in nov i went 30:56 for this course on dry trails,
Yesterday i ran a 29:50 with some mud and standing water:-)
Very happy to see a marked improvement on the same course as a previous race.
