Rob-you are my hero! Swimming in that......NUTS!  My Sprint swim will be in the Gulf Saturday but it is only 300 yards.  Hopefully it will be much calmer than your swim Monday.  Curious how Tropical Storm Nate may affect the water.  Keep up the good work Rob!

Christy-sorry about IMFL. Maybe you can get another HIM in next year and build on that.

Randy

That's my plan.  Eagleman is near by.  I've heard great things about it.

Be safe this weekend!  Swimming in a tropical storm doesn't sound too good.

Thanks Randy, yeah swimming in that was pretty nuts, but had to do it : )  I can't explain it, see the hill take the hill......   Yeah its crazy, and probably really silly.   Hope that Nate does not effect your swim too much.

I have to tell you about my swim on Monday.  Below is the picture.  if you look close enough you can see a little black dot bouncing in the waves, that's my head.  I swam for an hour and only went 20 feet!  It was the so fun!  But man did I get beat up by the waves and swallowed about 4 gallons of seawater.  Luckly the IM is in a lake and not the Gulf of Mexico!

That is crazy!!

Thanks, yeah now that I take a good look at it, it probably was a little crazy, but sometimes you have to be crazy.  this may sound nuts, but it really was fun

christy - Wahoo! go for it!  Make sure u register early they fill up REALLY fast.  I wanted to Florida IM but was to late and it was full. Good luck in convincing husband, it does take ALOT of time to train.

Looks like next year isn't going to happen.  My husband asked if I could wait another year.  I guess I can't blame him, but it is pretty lame.

Sorry to hear, but that gives you another year to get ready for it, which is great! just keep logging miles, its worth it.

If only we could all get our significant others on board with this whole "giving up everything to train" idea, things would be so much easier on us all. Sucks.

Help needed. How do you all stay motivated to get strength training in? I'm having a tough time convincing myself to get into the lifting mood this week. But I know I need it. Why is it always so difficult to get in strength?

Here is my motivation, the new song 'I work out' it goes like something like this:

I work out

Girl look at this body.....

I work out

I am sexy and I know it

When I walk in the spa people stop and look at me

I work out

Wiggle wiggle wiggle

Yeah I am sexy and I know it

I am sexy and I know it

I work out

The songs halirious, don't know all the words, its a big cut on all the gym rats, funny stuff. I laugh so hard when I first heard it I cried.  It's funny

That is funny.  At first, I thought you made up the song. A little something you sing to yourself at the gym   I'm going to have to check it out.

That would be nice!  With 2 little ones, I know it's a lot to ask of him.  But...I am holding him to the following year!!

OMG I thought you made it up too! Hilarious!

After you wrote that, I noticed this: http://www.psfk.com/2011/09/music-motivation-pandora-adds-new-workout-stations.html

Looks like we're not the only group inclined to work out to music. I have to check out some of these stations

Wow...going to have to check that song out.  At first all I could picture was Rob "prancing" around the gym singing that tune .

Headed down to the Gulf to stay at my buddy's beach house for the race tomorrow.  Looks like great weather.  It has taken me twice as long to pack as it will to race.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Rob-killer weekend! You are going to have a great race next month.

Posted my race report in the race report forum.  There were alot of beginners in this race and it was great to help some of the people in transition prior to the race and see how excited they were after finishing.  I ended up 4/410 overall. Not sure how to figure out Masters numbers but I was 1 out of everyone in the OLD GUYS division.

So a couple friends competed in Ironman Madison this weekend. I was going to try and get up there but things just didn't work out. I "followed" both girls online via Facebook (one of the husbands was 'live' updating on FB) and also via the Ironman website. After following both of these ladies on BT and reading about the intense training, I thought I would never want to do an Ironman. Ever. The training sounds awful. But interestingly, after the virtual excitement of their race day and seeing how much they both loved it and how much pride this journey instilled, well, never say never. This is such a freaking cool sport.

I had a step-back week last week, and good thing, too, because I needed it. I'm officially done with 50% of my half-marathon training program. 6 more weeks to go before the big day in St. Louis. I was feeling a little burned out last week but I'm back on track today. I think all the labor day/Octoberfest celebrations are starting to take their toll. I might have to step up the "TRAIN HARD" and step down on "HAVE FUN" part of this group for a while Wink But first, today's happy hour with my co-workers, followed by my dad's retirement gathering at --- 5 AM ---- tomorrow. (he works midnights so this is his 'happy hour') Then, it's BUCKLE DOWN time.

Hope you're all doing great!

How is everyone doing?  As most everyone's tri season is either over or winding down thought it might be a good time to look back and see how everyone rates there season.

Best thing about the season?

Worst thing about the season?

Lessons learned?

I know our numbers have dwindled but would be curious to see what ya'll think.  I'll give it some thought as well and try to put my review together.
