I'm well aware. It WAS actually a legit question, and just couldn't figure out a way to ask it non-creepily. Oh well. Not the first time, and definitely not the last.

Jamie, that's awesome that you have that kind of relationship. I have a good one with my parents, but it sounds completely different from yours. It's only been recently that I've started opening up to them and actually talking to them as I would my friends, telling them about relationships and stuff. It's great that you have such an open relationship with her

Ya, we've never had a normal father daughter relationship (whatever that is), it amazes and surprises me how close we became as she entered the teen years... Probably because I was so open and understanding with her and gave her a lot of trust, and she's never broken that so we still have it. She get good grades and hangs with a good croud, is motivated, what more can I ask for? I treat her like an adult most of the time... Scary how much she is like me though... We where talking about how people look at us when we are together, and me being single came up, she said 'I guess hanging out with me is a real cawk block isn't it?'. I literally choked on my coffee. That's my girl, looking out for dad.

Pete & Sharon, I have to say that getting 'let go' in the month of December sucks and is bunk that your employer did this.  I know that I am restating the obvious, but here is why it hit me today.  I have an employee that I am fuming (to the point that I could fire her today) with her due to her lack of brain power when it comes to her work over the past few weeks, but today the straw broke the camels back.  

BUT I have not and cannot fire her this month as it is December and to fire someone this close to the holidays is cr8p. I can say that she will be gone by the middle of January weather or not I have a replacement for her.

Yea, it's not the best, but it is what it is. Such is life. For me, I'm sure it's so that they don't have to pay me over Christmas, as we get 2 weeks of vacation, so if they kept me on another week, technically it'd go into the vacation, then they wouldn't have the option of letting me go until the middle of january. Saving themselves a few grand. 

Whatever. Part of life. We move forward

Sometimes, the former leads to the latter. 

Would you guys keep me out of that other thread please I hate getting sucked in to those when I know what is going to happen.
