Best news EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, maybe not the best.  And really, barely just average...

BUT, the one day I'm exhausted and don't want to be here, is the ONE day the boss is taking out a client golfing and will be gone for the rest of the day.  Lazy day for me and an early departure!

Must be nice. I haven't had a lazy day since my kids were born.

Good one!!!

Teejaay - 2012-11-01 1:21 PM Speaking if kids. I think I may have offended a bunch of people this morning when I said I was glad nobody tricks or treats at my house because I don't like kids.

doesn't offend me at all.  who would be offended by that??  i know plenty of people that don't hand out candy for whatever reason.  it's not like it's health insurance and you'll get taxed if you don't participate.

(see what i did there?)

They were offended because they have little kids and took it as some sort of personal affront on THEIR kids. And yes ....I saw what you did there.

My wife is probably the best mom in the world, but she doesn't like other people's kids.  She may like her best-friends' kids, but generally she doesn't like other people's kids.

I don't know why other people would be offended that you don't like their kids considering I don't like my own sometimes.  I love them all the time, but sometimes, I don't like them much...

Who said we must all like kids? That ain't in the USAT rulebook!

Yup, This

I am not really fond of kids even though I have one.  I am less fond of their parents usually however.

Well, based on what I have been told/hear from parents.  I have come to expect that I will have tons of freedom and fun in my life until I have a kid.  Then have to take a time out for 18-20 years of absolute misery and ZERO freedom/fun.  Then they leave the house, and the fun starts again?

Is that about right?

and nothing is hard without kids either.  you have no rights to complain about things because you don't have kids, don't forget that.

but yes, the "life becomes miserable" thing is the number one reason i am SO turned off from having kids right now, or ever.....

I will disagree, I have a ton of fun with my kids! As with any family, it does take some maneuvering of schedules to make sure everyone is where they need to be, and there are frustrating days, but I do not remember them as much as I remember the good times with my boys.

Well I agree with James.  Life does not become miserable.  It has it's challenges from time to time but it has it's rewards that far outweigh those challenges.

To me, I can understand if parents feel that way.  Probably do feel like others have it easier - fair enough.  There may be some truth.  I didn't know how much work marriage was untill the first on failed and got into the second.  People will tell you that a marraige takes a lot of work, and you say sure.  But you don't KNOW.  Same with kids most likely.  I happy with my ignorance on that matter.

But you CHOSE it.  If they were forced on you, complain.  But don't say "I can't WAIT to have four kids and a family", then beotch the entire time afterwards?  Don't want to hear it.

I 100% agree!  Your freedom/fun does not go away, just your focus changes.  What sounded like fun before may not necessarily be so great anymore.  There are plenty of not so fun times, but they are severely outweighed by the good!

every life has their own challenges.  why is having kids special?

for example kido... you are a cancer freaking survivor.  sorry, but that sounds way more challenging than having kids.  for someone to write you off as not having had it tough because you don't have kids?  you, in my book, are effing tough.

i once had someone tell me that i haven't accomplished anything with my life because i don't have kids.  just because she couldn't possibly recognize that putting yourself through college on your own and buying a house on your own at 24 is actually an accomplishment.

I love nice dinners, a free schedule, traveling, nights out, watching what I want on TV, QUIET.  Seems like you are 100% about the kids, especially the fist 8-10 years.  After that, they can take care of themselves to some point.

For me, it was such a great time watching them grow and learn and discover during those 8-10 years that was amazing. And as parents, we can still do all those things, it just takes some planning on our part. I do not feel like I gave anything up to be a parent. That's just me and my opinion, not saying it is for everyone

Is that about right?

and nothing is hard without kids either.  you have no rights to complain about things because you don't have kids, don't forget that.

but yes, the "life becomes miserable" thing is the number one reason i am SO turned off from having kids right now, or ever.....

Don't want to hear it.

every life has their own challenges.  why is having kids special?

for example kido... you are a cancer freaking survivor.  sorry, but that sounds way more challenging than having kids.  for someone to write you off as not having had it tough because you don't have kids?  you, in my book, are effing tough.

i once had someone tell me that i haven't accomplished anything with my life because i don't have kids.  just because she couldn't possibly recognize that putting yourself through college on your own and buying a house on your own at 24 is actually an accomplishment.

Why do triathletes complain about how hard their training is, I mean why are they so special.

Some people are idiots no matter what, and they will continue to be idiots with or without kids.

The beauty of this world is that we can all decide for ourselves what is right for us and no one else. Kum-bah-yah mo'fos.

But I agree with teh Kido and teh Meh... I have friends who constantly post things like how nice it would be to go on vacation but oh the SACRIFICE I make for my FOUR kids, blahblahblah.... sorry honey but you chose that life! 4 times in a row!

For me, it was such a great time watching them grow and learn and discover during those 8-10 years that was amazing. And as parents, we can still do all those things, it just takes some planning on our part. I do not feel like I gave anything up to be a parent. That's just me and my opinion, not saying it is for everyone

That is ONE thing I'm looking forward to.  When ever I teach something to someone, I re-learn it again and learn something new.

I often look back and realize I wish I paid more attention to history and political science and geography.  I will have fun learning things again with my kids.

No I understand why my parents were flipping out with excitement when we went to bunker hill and I couldn't give a crap.  I will be exactly like them.  Flipping my mind to actually be where history is made - in awe.  And I'm sure my kids will be like "whatever dad" - the little ingrates...

See, I'm already calling them names.
