I feel that way about running. Anything over an hour feels long. That IM marathon is going to be special

Well at least I get my "special" part of an IM out of the way up front.  LOL.

I think my IM marathon might be especially easy considering the bike course at MT is so flat and fast. At least the swim is in a lake and not the ocean (salt water sucks!).

everlong - 2013-01-24 4:17 PM Ya Pumpkinman is a great race. I just like the idea of doing different ones every year though so I'm torn.

I was going to do the REV in OOB in August but I will be away. From what I hear, it is a really good race. But, (you probably know this) the water is cold and it is an OWS and conditions can be variable.

The open water part doesn't bother me at all......the cold......ya I'm a wimp when it comes to that. Getting in the pool this morning after walking across the 8 degree parking lot was enough, LOL. I'll mull it over for the next week and make a final call.

Morning everyone.  Still freezing here in CT.  4 degrees without wind chill right now.

Is it warm somewhere right now?

Yes, it is in the 70s where I am, and I ran this morning in the beauty of 54 degree weather!

Make sure to tell me when its 110 in Texas and 70 here.

Lol! Yes, you are right about that! One extreme is just as bad as the other!

Thanks Scott, I am just trying to find that balance of listening to my body and making sure I don't push it and listening to what my head thinks my body is telling me at 4:45 in the morning ha!

No problem.  If it becomes a consistent issue or you notice a pattern then you should have your coach address it.  Wink

karen26.2 - 2013-01-25 7:47 AMGood bike workout (seat was slightly better) followed by 40 min. run. Felt good! It was 32 degrees out, but windy so I'm not sure what the "feels like" temp was. But I was toasty warm in my lulu. There was even a little slushy rain and that wonderful "first rain on oily road" smell.

Headed to my second epidural injection this morning. Then ice, rest and email & spreadsheets for work this afternoon. Oh boy!

Oh and it's day 25 and I'm still going strong on whole30. Pretty sure I will continue after 30 days with some modifications. I feel so much better.

Way to go on day 25! I am also on day 25 and plan on continuing. Not only do I feel better, but I am losing some body fat. Running feels so much better.

This is pretty crazy and compared to some other races that take a week to complete very reasonably priced. Going all the way from Casper to Cheyenne Wyoming just sounds cool on it's own.

You guys rock!  All I know is I had no carbs at all at just dinner last night and even just that made me feel better in the morning.

uhcoog - 2013-01-25 7:50 AM Did you know that carbs at night increase seratonin production.  So while it's a no no in many weight loss circles it does help you sleep better.

Serotonin (and dopamine) are also involved in cocaine use. The more cocaine, the greater the levels of serotonin and dopamine (pleasure), which leads to withdrawal symptoms and the need for more cocaine to replenish depleted serotonin and dopamine.

This is also the same process in obesity and junk food. Chips etc, (carbs) elevate certain neurochemicals (pleauure). When you stop eating, your body (brain) goes into withdrawal and the need for more chips (carbs) to replace the depeleted neurochemicals.

jarvy01 - 2013-01-25 7:54 AM I consider anything under 3500 yards to be a short swim, btw.  Anything over 4000 and I'd take a banana.

I can't imagine ever considering 3500 yds to be a short swim....Um...3500 yds vs root canal...mmm not so sure.

Gm people. Off to my 3 hour charity Spin event we are putting on today. Should be three hours of pain. We sold 45 bikes now, and will make roughly $2,000 for the non profit, with little effort. Should be a good day. Enjoy your Saturday.

I have a light spin and quick run to get in today.  Half marathon tomorrow.  About to head out to breakfast.  Reagan has been asking to go to IHOP forever now, so we figured why not.

I think I have a 1:15 bike and 40 min. run - afraid to look at the bike time, hope the saddle is kind today.

After much reading, I decided on the Prologue and ordered thru Amazon today. Got a good deal, plus had a $25 credit on my account??? Not sure how it got there, but I applied to the saddle, free shipping, couldn't beat the price. If I hate it I'll sell it. But I hope I LOVE it!

We are heading to the farmers market (our Saturday ritual now) for veggies & meat!

Have a great day everyone!

Jeff - hope your day is a success!

Yes I do love the farmers market. It's a bit of a drive, but all the ones near us pale in comparison. This one is serious business though, they dont joke around. I admit I got schooled last week - I had my cart in an area that was a cart free zone. In my defense, others had them too but the worker guy singled me out. My husband just rolled his eyes at me - there goes my dingy wife again, embarrassing herself.

It takes me 800 -1000 yards to warm up.  My favorite work outs are usually in the 3800 - 4200 range.

I'm the same way and need a thousand yards to get warmed up. I generally make my workouts so it's lots of drills, pull with paddles, kick with fins etc and then start my intervals afterwards.

Today was an hour trainer ride in Z1 followed by an 8 mile run as 1 warmup, 5 tempo, 1 marathon pace, 1 cool down. Really good week for me.

Sounds like a fun event!

Did a 6.5 mile run this morning in the cool misty rain.  The run felt really good.  In the past, I ran just because it was a challenge but not something I really enjoyed.  These past few runs have been enjoyable.

Tomorrow...in the saddle!
