Feeling a little heavy from the quesadilla I ate.  I've nicknamed it the Cheesebomb.

So I'd like a little feedback on when I should take my forced time off.

Do I take it like a month ahead of my HIM in June and used it to put in a really large volume training week?  Or do I take it the week leading up it so I make sure I'm good and rested during my taper?

Funny how after the initial "crap this sucks" thought I immediately began to strategize and try and figure out how this could be advantageous to my training

We're having an unscheduled plant-wide this morning at work

That doesn't sound good!  Hope everything is ok!!

Well, no layoffs this time around.  But all associates are being forced to take a 2 week furlough and they cut out bonuses.  2 weeks unpaid......that's gonna hurt.  At least I won't be at work though

oh no!!! I'm sorry! These are scary times!

I personally would take it as a "training camp" type of thing, if you have a choice. I think not working during a taper might drive some people crazy.

I got some lunchtime peachy!

A really good weights workout.

But the leg press machine was broken!!!

So I did a bunch of other lower body exercises instead, and did some of those thingies where you "sit" against a wall and support yourself with your quads? Not sure what they're called, but they hurt!

1stTimeTri - 2009-03-13 6:36 AM I'll be a lumberjack cooking up flapjacks for my second son's "Pioneer Days" at school today!

Hope you had fun with that! I was visiting you in Madison today with my oldest daughters fieldtrip to the capital!

ok time to get going. I just got back from the fieldtrip and now need to get ready for my tri-club meeting. We are doing a bike/run brick with transition training, then food to follow! Have a great night!

can you split it before and after?  Your body would probably appreciate a few days off after tackling a HIM

I seem to be on the mend, but it is a slow process.  The Dr gave me an Rx to help me breathe.  So far I haven't developed any secondary infections from the virus.  My lungs and sinuses are very good at developing infections.    I am going to keep doing everything I can to shake this and hope I can keep it out of my lungs.  I would prefer to not get pneumonia.

I have to take a solid week, monday through friday.

Not sure about taking it the week after.  I'd probably sit around feeling sorry for myself with all the pain I'll be in.  Plus I'd deprive my coworkers of the chance to laugh at me for walking funny and crying as I attempt stairs
