skrtrnr - 2009-10-03 12:11 PM HELLO GHOULIES.

just a quick buzz through....

too gorgeous of a day to be sitting here at the computer.

hopin' the dh gets back from the skate park soon, i wanna go to the Strip District (NO, not THAT sorta Strip District) to get some hummus, and vegetables, and all sorts of other delicious treats.

but, wanted to drop into to report that i did a 40 min tempo run today.  yippy skippy.

i think im a tad under pace-wise where i want to be if i want to run a sub 2 hr 1/2 MARY, but im trying not make a final judgement based on todays trng session.

4 weeks out, a lot can happen (good and bad)

just gonna keep crackalacking.  not push it.  let my body do what its gonna do.

we shall see about the rest.

so.....thats leaves me to my beautiful day.

RUN HAPPY GHOULIES (you especially JULES.  mwah)
stacieb

Good job!! now go and enjoy the day.

thanks i intend to, ROBIN.

and thanks for saying that persistence beats talent most every time.   that was a real pick me up.

id like to think so.  at least thats what i tell myself when all my RIDICULOUSLY FAST AND UBER TALENTED friends CRUSH me during our group training sessions, in the pool, on the bike, on the road.

god love em.  they are some of the best people i know....

im SERIOUSLY gonna add that to my signature line.

thanks for the encouragement.
stacieb

Ahh, but it is true, Glad it helped.

robin.

more than you know....

iowagander - 2009-10-03 12:19 PM I just had one of my favorite lunches - avocado halved and stuffed with tuna. Good stuff.

My training log is going to be CRAMMED with "house cleaning" after today. I've already put in over 2 hours and I'm just getting warmed up. Here's to cardio-sweeping/wiping/scrubbing/folding!

sounds good...been a while since I have made one of those....thanks for reminding me! Lately seems I keep getting stuck in my rut of making the same lunches/dishes.

I put apples in my tuna...makes it crunchy and naturally sweetens it...especially good the day or two after it was made!!! mmmmmmm you are making me hungry...and Im trying to hold off for the food at the festival. I CAN DO IT!!!

Great idea with the apples! I'll have to try that this week. Tonight for dinner it's tilapia cooked with salt, pepper, and fresh-squeezed lemon and lime juice, with carrots and angel hair pasta.

nice selection! I like talapia...it is one of many fishes I can eat...do you grill it? or pan fry it?

kcarroll - 2009-10-04 1:17 PM Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday.  The weather was terrific today.  Lots of sun.  I got a swim in early then went out for b'fast.  This afternoon rode the Electra (and yes, she has a wicker basket and bell) up to the town sqaure for the fall festival. I heart kettlecorn.

So now got to go pack.  Am working in Munich for the next couple days and am flying out tonight.  Will try to keep irrational jetlagged but can't sleep posting to a minimum.  Not going to forget the ambien this trip.  Saucony's and Garmin first things going in the bag.

safe travels...curious, what kind of work you do that brought your there?

skrtrnr - 2009-10-03 7:45 AM oh crap.

here i thought i could come in on our thread and be mostly caught up.

SILLY ME.

i have to run, literally

40 min tempo on the plan for me.  im heading to the Y, though....its sunny outside (still nip, but thats OK)

i wish i was talented, focused, disciplined, astute enough to do a tempo outside....but alas, i get 'lost' in the run, forget what im doing, fall WAY OFF pace and screw the whole tempo run up.

the TM thinks for me, keeps me in line, focused, disciplined and astute.

as for talented.

alas.  i dont think ill ever be.  even as hard as i train.

BUT....

im the most consistent persistent athlete i know.

so there you go.

im off w my silly runnin' self.

RUN HAPPY EVERYONE!
stacieb

ps - ESPECIALLY YOU JULES....A THOUSAND KISSES *MWAH* FOR YOU EPIC JOURNEY.

Yes very persistent and that is what will get you across any finish line my dear! Hope the tempo run was good!

thanks, KIM.  persistence.  consistency.  hasnt failed me yet, that's for sure...

as for the tempo.  it was good.  i was little under pace-wise.  i was having female issues from HELL.  but its done and in the books.

on to an overall BETTER week this week - 11 mile long run and 8x200 intervals.  woo hoo!

Usually pan fried. I do love grilling fish though. Salmon and trout are my favorites on the grill.

I work for a small pharma company.  I'm going over to meet with some of the physicians/sites that are part of our research program.  I am usually in EU a couple times a month.  Makes training interesting.  Usually no access to pools or bikes, so I heavy up on runs those weeks.  It's working for me this month with the half marathon in November.

come-n-get-it! making lasagna to carbo load with....making a spinach lasagne and a ground turkey lasagne....might as well come and have dinner...then I will drizzle some chocolate on the plate...all perdy and all...and then I will take a nice warmed up brownie...place it on the chocolate drizzles...add some ice cream...a small dallup of whip cream and wella....my brownie a la mode! SHOOT I MAY NEED TO RUN A MARATHON!!!

Can I stop by for some brownie a la mode after my marathon tomorrow?  Sounds delicious!  But I better start off with some lasagne first
