First.  Bib  #2545.  I AM 45, but wish I was 25?  I'll go with that.
Second.  Crazy as it is...I JUST BOUGHT A NEW BIKE...well, ORDERED a new bike, and it should be set up by the end of the week so that will give me at least 2 or 3 rides to feel it out.  I know...I know....not the brightest of ideas, but this bike is soooooooo freaking sweet, I can't stand it, so I'm doing it.   New Bike:  2010 Orbea TLT.....Old Bike:  2000 Quinana Roo.

Things are coming together, had a pretty good rain storm yesterday, washed the algae on down the river, lab says we are good to go. The temps. will be leveling off to the normal low 90's, and the paint striping truck showed up just as I was shooting these.

The TLT is fast and comfortable.  You are going to love it.  Have you named her yet?

Picking "her" up later in the week.  Still being shipped, then must be assembled.  No names until we meet.  When I get in the saddle, the name will come to me.    Pics when she arrives.  I had no idea there was a "Orbea Mafia".  I DO love pasta!

As of last week they were not. If you want one you will have to order it and have it shipped.

#2078. I just noticed that there is another "Aaron Todd" doing this race so I might not even be the fastest Aaron Todd on the course. Shoot, maybe I'll just stay home and use his results with "our" name and tell all friends how great I did. Although I'm sure the photos would be a dead give away...just sayin, I'd be pretty easy to pick out of a triathlete line up.

Some of you have stories that are truly moving. I don't have any great story. I have a serious exercise addiction and I just love pushing myself to my limits. To me, triathlons are a microcosm of life. You should run your own race but at the same time you should push yourself to be the best that you can be. Whether it takes you 10 hrs or 17 hrs to finish, what's important is that you worked as hard as you could during your training and during the race itself. I've been working my butt off since I signed up for this race last December. I have a solid race plan and as long as I stick to that plan I'll be satisfied no matter what the results.

I'm enjoying reading all the stories about why your doing ironman. As for me I'm an athletic junkie... Looking for something bigger and badder

I lost one of my closest friends @25 and a family friend @22 both to heart abnormalities... So this is not only something for me but for them also

Any suggestions on where my family could view me on my bike? They will have cars, maps, common sense, good mobility. They are also not from the area.

I was thinking they could get inside the loop and go back and forth? Maybe, La Grange, and 2 other spots on the loop? So they can just move around inside the loop from spot to spot?

Is there any good hills they could sit at? ( Mile estimates would also be greatly appreciated ).

Thanks for any information.

I would say La Grange is the best place as you go past it twice.  The downside is you are flying through there.  For the spectators there is usually a festival going on and food all around.  The only real "hills" on the course are the out and back and there is no place to watch (I think road is closed off as your hitting 40+mph downhill).  Good Luck

40 downhill for a 200 lb guy like me = 5 uphill.  Nice.  I'll really enjoy the scenic return on the out and back!

No matter.  Coach says "stay in the box", so I will.  If you see me out of the box, yell at me to get back in the box!

62 mile ride today. 17 mph headwind that conveniently decided to stop as we were making our turnaround. Why does that always happen?

Just wanted to let you know I bought a new bike last week as well!!! I had a Quintana Roo and stayed with that brand for my new one. I rode the Louisville course last week for the first ride and was almost 2mph faster on my overall average! It was worth it and I sure yours will be too!!!

Good Luck!

Jerry, If I can squeeze 2mph faster out of my new ride, I'll be doing cart wheels through transition!  I'm actually selling my ROO, for the Orbea.  Have fun!  Enjoy the Roo.

OK, after being mysteriously dropped from the race it looks like I'm back in.  You better believe the email from IM below is being printed, framed, and taped to my forehead for registration.  OK, back to taper.  Best of luck to everyone.

Hi, Robert!

Thanks for your e-mail. Per your communications with Jennette, you will be assigned a number on-site in Louisville. Please continue with you travel arrangements as necessary. We will let you know if we require any additional information of you in the coming days. Don't hesitate with any additional questions or concerns in the meantime. Best of luck with your training!

So of course, after staying injury free all year, I happened to mess up my left knee and foot on my final long run Sunday. Lots of tightness and some stabbing pain, similar to what I have experienced before with IT band issues. With the foot, its just sore on the top, like my shoes were too tight or something. Either way, I will be RICEing and foam rolling like crazy over the next two weeks. I am sure I will be ok, as I tend to bounce back fairly quickly, but this still sucks.....
