I'm already having trouble sleeping at night due to the anticipation. I can't believe I'm so eagerly anticipating an event where I put my body and mind thru so much pain and agony.

Is it to early to put up goals?

Anyone want to make an excel file or Google document of all the BTers racing with screen name, real name, and race number?

Kathy,I was thinking I need a gel at the swim loop, too. Not being that fast of a swimmer had me worried about how long it would be before I got any calories in if I waited until T1 or bike. I was thinking of putting a gel just up my sleeve. Is that what you have done? There is water on the beach right? Thanks Anne

Yes they have mini aid station with fluids. I do tuck it up my left sleeve as I'm a right handed.

I get it out as I stand up and try to have finished by time I get to sand and can take in water from volunteers.

Gel will help as I won't be taking calories in for ~2.5 hours if no gel.

I feel better today.  Ran 14 miles yesterday and the run made me feel better.  Maybe its just stress.

I am kinda worried about your mathematics about calories etc.  I am shooting for anything sub 17.  I have some simple stuff I do for food but its not set with alarms or anything.  I just eat the same gu, perform, pretzels etc throughout the bike and when I run.  I just kinda eat and drink the whole time.  Its not an exact thing each time.  Ya'll got me worried....

As with anything.  Give this method a couple of trail runs to ensure the gel isn't going to just just sit in your gut and start GI issues early on.  I know some a few people who can't take gels during the swim and it bloats them up.

Goals are to enjoy my first IM  from start to finsh no time set but less than 17. The thing that keeps me going  through training and going through my mind about the race is 1) Call myself an ironman and 2) the oh so sweet 90min massages.

The alerts on the watch just keeps me in check to make sure I pay attention to drinking and eat and not get caught up  on race day hype and bonk(wal-mart timex $15 put on writst or strap on bike). My simple plan is finish all my food and gels at 56 miles and then have the same stuff maybe a candy bar in my SB bag for the rest of 56 and finish that before the run. This way I know I got the cals in to take me through onto the run and live off the course till SB run and have me Snickers and Redbull as a treat.

Luv the trisports 25% discount they having now  because I just got me some recovery 2XU compression long tights for after the race.

They really need to label these things better then. It says:
Coupon Code / Promotional Code (optional)

So how silly of me to think that's where you put a Coupon Code

Yeah, the next page it works.

i was contemplating the same thing. in training though I set myself up to swim the whole thing. In louisville we did not have the luxury of a mid swim stop. it is so funny someone else brought this up. Decisions decisions.
the gel is a good idea, but I have not tried that yet. I am doing infinite on the bike and run so I might stick a small amt of that in my wet suit. I hate to change things now kind of the cardinal rule. hmmmmmmm maybe my last long swim I might try something. taper is coming........
