Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() kaburns1214 - 2011-02-23 8:12 AM I think it just shows that most people train too hard. These same numbers resulted in a 1:56 half marathon time (high 8s). If you pay attention to your HR and train at "easier" paces you're less likely to get injured, you improve your aerobic efficieny and you're able to build durability because you can run for longer. It just takes a mind shift that training runs are for training -- and that the pace really doesn't matter (within reason). Probably explains my heel right now... |

I then compared them to photos of me from Disney World last March. Triathlon has been very, very good to me. You're not going to post them? So I have shirtless pics of me from last March, but I wouldn't do that to you so here's me last March: Me Now: ![]() Looking good! Aladin is a little creepy, but you look really good! bwahahaha...Aladdin is super creepy. You look fantastic! Isn't it nice to see all the hard work pay off? Keep it up! |

For example if you run a 25 minute 5K and run 20 miles a week and bike 100 miles a week your training paces are as follows: ZR 11:13 - 12:18 Z1 10:07 - 10:51 Z2 9:24 - 10:07 Goes to show that when training with HR, you pace is MUCH MUCH slower than race pace. yikes...interesting but depressing at the same time Agree ![]() |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Why do triathlon tops suck so much? Seriously. They are so short! I am 5'9" and they show my entire midsection. I had 4 children in 5 years, so I doubt anyone really wants to see that. LOL I've tried different shorts, and I LOVE the Zoots. They are the most comfortable. Do you think I could just wear a sports bra & tri shorts under my wetsuit and toss on a running shirt once I'm in TI? Just thinking about details..... |

I'm 5' 9" too and have a similar problem -- I love these: http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodSU_20658F.html For some reason they see to be longer than normal tri tops. The problem with throwing a shirt on in T1 is that its a lot harder to get a shirt on soaking wet than you think. Edited by kaburns1214 2011-02-23 10:59 AM |

Does it highlight the midsection (in other words....will I have a nasty muffintop??)? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Garmin 310xt question: I know you can customize your screens, but can you get 4 screens showing HR, distance, pace and time??? I have a garmin 405 (I think) and HR is really, really tiny and I use that to determine my pace so I want it as big as the other data. |

I'm pretty sure 4 screens are available... if not, you can certainly split two screens in half with two parameters on each screen. Half the screen is plenty big enough for me to see while training. |

I sold it and got a 310XT, which I LOVE! |

I have a 305 that I really like. It looks HUGE and it is pretty big, but you don't notice it because its not heavy. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I love the 305, it works fine, but had to wear a separate HR watch on my run. I want to see them all on 1 screen (time, distance, pace, HR) and I don't want to hit buttons to change screens. On the 305, it is on the screen, but is so tiny you can't really see it, especially if you are training based on HR. |

On the 305, it is on the screen, but is so tiny you can't really see it, especially if you are training based on HR. On the 301XT you can evenly split the screen into 4s and have time, distance, pace and HR. |

Its on my second screen that I just switch to if I want (one button push to switch screens and it stays there). But I agree, on the main default screen, HR is so tiny that it might as well not be there. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Easy run this morning + long swim tonight Started Hal Higdon's beginner HM plan this week. I originally was going to try the intermediate, but I had to back down. It starts off slowly, so I should be good with this one. I'm visiting my family out of town this weekend, so I won't be online at all. Have a great weekend! |

They work well and that should have you prepared just fine. Which HM are you doing? |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Rode the bike this morning and mad a pit stop at the gym to lift. They just put together a $20 club tri there. 10 minutes in the pool, 30 minutes on a spin bike, and 10 on the dreadmill. Not sure if I'm gonna do it. My competitive nature will take over and I may push too hard. That and I HATE pool swims. |
