I didn't even notice that about my HR on the bike and run.  While on the bike, the only thing I was looking at was my power numbers.  It was only afterwards did I look at my HR.

As for the bike...if you're skeptical...what I would do is email the seller for his LBS info.  Call the LBS yourself and verify for yourself the seller's story is true.  If he really did buy the wrong size, it only has 50 miles on it, and a 58 is on the way because they wouldn't take the 61 back, the LBS would know exactly what you're talking about.

My guess is its probably got a bit more than 50 miles on it (but honestly, it doesn;t matter if its in good shape), but that is not a wildly rare thing.

I've gone that twice now. Shops don't always take bikes back, and if he has the paper work its almost 100% not stolen.

A lot of shops wont take back bikes that were on clearance, overstock, etc.
Might have been outside their window to trade, they might just not accept trades.

Okay...sounds good.  The only two things I'm really concerned with are:

1.  Is there anything wrong with the carbon that I won't be able to see within the 3 day money back guarantee?

2.  The white and blue color isn't my favorite.  Should this really be a deciding factor?  Will I ride it less??? No.  I have a training plan and I stick to it.

I was looking at that color scheme and thinking the same thing...not exactly catching my eye.

If you'll ride it the same way, then I don't see it being a problem.

For me though...I've taken the stance that if I'm going to buy a bike from now on.  Unless I'm getting a sick deal on it...I'm going to buy the exact bike I want.

I got 4 "miles" on the treadmill yesterday; 34:49. Better than the last few days, but not as good as I've done on asphault.

Today was a "rest day", which meant walking at a fast pace 3.5 miles up a rough canyon with some guys I supervise so that we could try to find a soil sample. Each of us were carrying 35ish lbs of equipment up and back. The distance isn't bad, it's the lack of a discernable trail, rough terrain, and extra equipment. I was thinking of taking my Garmin with me to track it, but ended up leaving it in the trailer.

I'm sorta torn here.

Part of me says if its the bike i want/need, and the price is right, i'm goin for it regardless of the paint. Hell the only time i see my bike is when i'm NOT riding it.

The other part says it should look GOOOOOOD.

That said, if the price is realllly good, get hte bike, and a paint job to make it really YOUR BIKE;-)

Results came back from the first round of testing and show nothing wrong. Echocardiogram showed normal sinus rhythm and nothing out of the ordinary. The doctor is a bit confused as he said my symptoms go hand in hand with A-Fib, so he has lined up for me to wear a HR monitor from THursday to Friday which might gve him more insight, and then another appt with another cardiologist in 2 weeks. Good to know things are well so far, but this will cut into my training which is annoying but I guess it needs to be done, so I will scale back this week again with some more days sheduled off.

The R3 is a very good quality frame.   Other things to consider might be the cranks, Rotor cranks are very nice, but this is a compact crank, meaning that you can't just throw bigger chainrings on it as it is 110 BCD, not standard 130 BCD ( Shimano, SRAM ).  That also means that it might have 170mm crankarms, you might need bigger cranks considering you are looking at a bike this size.  This looks like a bike more for climbing that TTs, the geometry might not be very good for aero bars and the tt position.

I would expect this to sell for around $2K, maybe more, maybe less because it is a big damn frame.  To be honest, I bet you can find a TT bike for that in your local area, at your LBS, which includes fitting and other assorted things.  Is carbon required?  If not, you can certainly find a closeout Trek or Specialized at a good price with good components.

Mike,

I may be wrong but i think he already has a TT bike (might be thinking the wrong person though).

If so, i'd say having a roadie with compacts (assuming the crank arms fit), would actually be a good idea.

Yeah...I purposely switched out the standard crank on my new CAAD10 for compact.  I sprinted with a huge tailwind on a flat on Saturday...and got up to 38 mph before I started to "slightly" spin out in my 50/12 gear.  I do have a 11/26 and 11/23 cassette, so if I ever feel the need to sprint at 40+ mph...I do have the option.  I just don't think it would happen very often.  But when I was climbing on Sunday...I was extremely glad to have compact.

Well then......all things being equal I agree.  My assumption was that this was going to be his tri bike.

If that is the case, then that's a pretty nice bike!  I like the colors.

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.  I hope that everyone is doing well.  I still need to catch up here.  I just got back from Florida last night.  Did my race report.  blah blah blah.

Normal is good!  I hope the super duper HRM is not too problematic.  I had to do that once and my doctor let me go to the gym with it.

I could be totally wrong too, just thought at some point i remembered him mentioning a P2.
If not then i agree though, there are probably other things i'd look to for a tri bike/road bike.

Rushed home from work yesterday and got in some good hill work on the bike before it got dark.  Overall, nearly 2k feet of climbing in under 13 miles.  I used to hate hills...but now I actually enjoy them.  You kind of just get into a rythem and go.  Not like hammering intervals on the flats where you have to force yourself to keep your power up.  There was also a last stretch of a hill, maybe only a tenth of a mile long, but about 13% grade that I always avoided...but I tackled it this time...twice.

Woke up early, and got another 6 mile run in this morning.

Finished my 1000 yd time trial "test" last night  I'm getting a bit worried and not sure how to change up my workouts to speed things up. ?Any suggestions would be great.  I did some timed 100's at steady comfortable pace on monday and was able to average about 1:25 for each.  I just felt smooth and comfortable.  Last night was different.  Every time I breathed I got a mouth full of water...was kind of a mess.

I overall felt weak and kind of crappy. My shoulders felt sore for some reason and I couldn't get into a rythm.

TT: 15:13 AVG: 1:31

No advice for your swimming Jonathan...since you'd probably smoke me in the pool.

Been working long hours this week with vendors on site for a conversion.  Missed my masters swim last night, but was more than happy to crawl into bed at around 8:30 to catch up on some sleep.  Been waking up at 4am this whole week to make sure I could get my run in the morning.

Not likely I'll be riding after work, but I packed the bike in the car anyway.  Will probably be on the trainer tonight.

For my uphill time trial coming up on April 3rd, I was thinking of taping up all the vents on my road helmet.  It's only 4.2 miles, and I expect to finish in the 23-25 minute range.  The course is through an area with tons of tree cover, and the start is early morning so heat shouldn't be an issue at all.

Just wondering if anyone else would do this.  I imagine I'll be going in the 10mph range...but aero is aero right?  Aero helmet doesn't make sense because of the added weight, and I'll be on a road bike on the hoods the whole time.

Holy crap, I just saw a bald eagle while running down the back roads in my town.  If I had never started running, I would have missed out on this rare occasion. First one I've ever seen....very cool.

Tri808-I honestly believe it will  make very little difference on a TT of this type.  I probably wouldn't rock a disc on this one either.  I think at low speeds the advantages are not apparent.

But that's me!

Definately no disc.  Will be using a set of 404's.  Not really because of the aero factor...simply because their the lightest set of wheels I have.

Agree... Don't tape the helmet. Get rid of the heat on the climbs too.

I honestly think heat will not be an issue.  With an early morning start, and lots of tree cover.  I think it will actually be a bit chilly.

*DUCKS*

Yes...chilly...like 72 degrees...

*DUCKS AGAIN*

Actually though...I hear about every other year it rains during the race...and in that area, it rains hard (it downpoured last year).  So maybe the tape would keep my head dry...LOL
