Sprint_DA - 2008-07-31 4:14 PM Just got in the replacement C-Spanner so I can adjust the chain on my motorcycle again. Also got the movie Heavy Metal in Baghdad from Netflix, supposed to be about metal bands starting up in Iraq. I'll have to figure out which I am going to do tonight after my workout.

Watch the movie. Read a book. Make an omelet(te). Hey, how was your day?

Don't know how good I would be at making an omelet.  Can't say that I've had eggs in the house, well since I moved in.  I did pick up the Total Immersion book a couple weeks ago, could read that.  Day was very eh.  Trying to get mentally up for my race on Saturday, but having some trouble.  Having some trouble with motivation in general.  Boss scheduled a meeting in Des Moines tomorrow, so I had to cancel my massage.  Need to burn a few cds of music that will have no reason to exist other than to get me psyched up.

Other than that, still trying to figure out what to ask the girl I've been talking to lately to do this weekend.  Kinda hard to plan a fun activity for a first-date kind of thing when there's a race stacked right in the middle.

I might have to take out Crowny to become head-evil-scientist.

Heh! Bring it on sister.

BTW, did you see the epMotion link for the auto pipettor's by Epindorph? Friggen hilarious!!!

I did! It was hilarious! We all watched it in the lab.

I enjoyed it as well.  If I knew any American lab girls, I would send it to them.

I forwarded the link to our marketing department (I know the director pretty well) and said "How come we can't do something like this?"

What do you think is causing the lack of race hype?  The neck thing? The threat of missed opportunity with new girl? Sorry about the massage.

I don't eat eggs.  Yeah, I no that makes me weird, but I will only eat eggs that are part of baked goods.  Now I shall partake of some ice cream, see y'all in a bit.

This might be burn out.  After this race, take it easy for a bit.  I still think you ramped it up a bit too high too soon.  But that is just me.  Take it easy for a week.  Easy workouts, etc.  Maybe drop one or two.  Then hit is again.  See how that makes you feel.

I think the lack of race hype is just tied into a lack of excitement in general.  I was keeping that olympic race as the high point of what I've spent a lot of time this year preparing for, and taking that out brought me down a little bit.  I hate thinking there are things I can't do, especially if it's something I've put my mind to.  With the lack of general hype, the excitement about meeting the new girl kinda drained too, so I'm trying to figure out how to do something that's interesting at a time when I'm kinda down.  And when I'm down I seem disinterested, so meeting anyone when I'm disinterested is just a waste of time for everyone.  And then my brain starts going through the list of stuff I'm not happy with right now, and it works on bringing itself down more.  I need to take a vacation to get my mind put back together.

This isn't tied into racing specifically, this happens to me from time to time and always has. It's one of the reasons my last doc tried to slap me on anti-depressants.

And that is just what I do.

You perv. It's a Men's USTA match. All dudes.

Though I like the way you think.

Off to sit in the rain for 15 minutes until we cancel the match. I'm 5 miles north of the park and not a drop...

Got it.  Well, at least regarding the Oly, instead of looking at it as something you can't do, look at it as something you want to do just not this year.

In other words, and yes, I know this is easier said than done, change your outlook on it.  Races will ALWAYS be there for you to do.  Setting an arbitrary deadline for you to get it done is just that, arbitrary.  You have the capability to do it, now do it on your own time.  Frankly, I don't doubt you could actually finish an Oly, but I have a feeling finishing is not going to be good enough.  So now take that thought in mind, build your off season towards that goal next year, with the knowledge that things may get in the way but that  you will be that much better prepared for it when it happens next year.

And I completely understand where you are coming from.  I hit those times too.  And it is so much easier said than done to change your outlook/perspective.   But think of it as part of your training.  The mental part.  Kind of like my log from last Friday.

I'm trying to remember which Arnold movie was the one where the bad guys kept getting killed and they'd have their clones out of the vat a half hour later.
