Just revisiting that last race by Rene and some other races by everyone else, I gotta say there are some FAST people on this team!

I know the definition of fast is always up for grabs, but anyway you slice it, a podium finish is always fast, and some of the swim, bike and run splits I see in these race reports amaze me.  Keep trucking everyone.

billsorg - 2010-07-26 7:06 PM I think I may have just bought a new tri bike.  A friend of mine, who is an avid triathlete and does a lot of work for charity, is selling a 2005 Quintana Roo Caliente bike with Ultegra and Dura Ace components.  It's at a bike shop right now getting a full tune-up.  I offered him $500 and he said "SOLD"!  The cool thing is the front wheel for it is being donated by Jeff Devlin, who is a two-time Kona 3rd place finisher (5 top 10's), 2x national triathlon champion and 3x national duathlon champion.  I may just hang that one on the wall.

I should be able to sell my 2002 Felt B2 for at least that much, so it'll be a free upgrade!

Is it the right size for you?   Wayyyyy COOL!

57cm... PERFECTO!!!  Plus, the bike shop that is tuning it up said they'd give me a full bike fitting!

Bob & Rene,
It's a good thing you guys aren't racing in the same race, because they don't make podiums with 2 first place spots...

GO ROCK THE HOUSE!!!
Cool

We had another mouse incident last night, but fortunately, our cat was nice enough not to bring it upstairs and put it in my daugher's sleeping bag!

Thought I'd share some pictures from Pauls Valley's claim to fame.  Our Okie Noodling Hand Fishing Tournament.  Noodling is where you fish for flathead catfish using your hands as bait.  You stick your hands or feet into a hole wait for the catfish to bite you then grab ahold.  Crazy!  My wife is one of the directors and I get to DJ the event.  It's some great people watching.  Rednecks from all over converge on our small town and double it's population for the day.  I heard someone say it is the Superbowl for rednecks.

That's a great race report Aaron.  Lot's of truisms in there.

Those are crazy catfish Ray.  Up here a 5 pounder is big!  I love redneck America.  Down home good people, and most of my family would fit right in.  Must be fun to DJ something like that.

I drove the route for my half.  It's a LOT of turns, many over 90 degrees, so I hope they have plenty of volunteers or I'll get lost!  And there are 2 left turns across what was a very busy state highway, so hopefully they'll have traffic control there.  A lot of the ride is on very nice back roads, no lines even, so hopefully not too many racers and not too many cars.  Great course in general, beautiful area.  I actually took the numbers of some houses for sale.  It's also nowhere near as hilly as anything I train on, so staying aero for as much of the 3 hours as possible will be the goal.

Oh yeah, KILL THOSE RACES BOB AND RENE!!!

Holy cow...I'd hesitate to stick my hand in one of those catfish mouths...geeze.

Awesome mouse story. Kids are great sleepover-er's...they rarely sleep.

race number 313 so follow along if you're not too bored. Should be a long day. A little rain forecasted which should help me since I love rain running.

Thanks for all the support and well wishes...I know it's been said before but this mentor group Rocks!

Bob's out of the water in 39:03, with a 4:56 T1.  Go tear up that bike course.  Calgary bike is a little long (58 miles).

No word on Rene.  It's a smaller race so they may not have athlete tracking.

If I 'm reading the results correctly, Rene finished in 5:25:11!  Nice speed.

The splits were:
Swim:  39:00
T1:      1:58
Bike:   2:42: 55
T2:      1:03
Run:    2:00:15

Those transitions are stupid fast (not to mention the rest if it).

Way to crank guys, awesome races.
