ceilidh - 2010-08-11 8:26 AM Dee, Peanut is too cute for words!

Yeah, we are really enjoying her.  She is the one that just showed up in our yard (garage actually) when she was about 2 mos. old.  Somebody must have dumped her at the local park.  Stupid people.  But we are grateful to have her!

deehtz - 2010-08-11 11:27 AM I did another OWS swim yesterday.  My second.  In a local lake.  I swam 1/2 mile in about 25 minutes.  Actually I probably swam a good bit further since I kept having to do course corrections.

At least I know I can do the distance.

Tomorrow I am supposed to swim with my master's group in the Columbia River.  Much colder.  I don't have a wetsuit, but I will at least try it.

WOOHOO!!!

Nice job, Dee!

deehtz - 2010-08-11 10:16 AM Good Morning, Ghouls!

What an entertaining village this has been!

Neal,  Hope you heal up fast (in time for Vegas)

Robin, Sending ghoulie energy vibes to you!

Bill, at least you can do a 5K, not everyone can.  And even with a chronic injury, you are way faster than I am!

Ann, have you heard anything more on your job interviews?  And how is Milo?

Melissa, you are going to make an awesome md.

Shawn, love your lurking comments.

Kim, have fun in Atlanta.

Kendra, I cannot even imagine riding my motorcycle for that many hours in one day!  You're awesome!

And to anyone else that I missed, so sorry, my memory is definitely limited.  Have a great day anyway!

Morning Dee. Nice recap! Amy is recovering from her tri and camping and her teenage son. I think that about covers it

Tom is also recovering from a hectic week.

I am Aghast!! Shocked! How could I overlook TOM!!!

No worries. I've looked him over several times.

That was YOU with the binoculars???

Can't complain. I haven't been able to work out as much as I would like but I've been moderately productive otherwise so I'm happy

DW and I have talked about getting 2 Mastiffs some day, so I'm down with big dogs. Just not in our current, relatively small abode.

We saw 2 Mastiffs at the pet store over the weekend. They were barrels with legs. HUGE!

Big dogs are great! Although medium ones are beginning to look like a better option if I get one here in CA. Not exactly an abundance of extra space around here.

We tend to go with lab sized dogs.  Though I have had small dogs too when I was a kid.

My husband always said he didn't want a small dog.  Peanut has changed his mind, though!

He is totally nutty over her!  LOL

From what I've read as long as you take them for about a 30 minute walk a day, Great Danes are fine in apartments and town houses. If they are indoors they spend the majority of their time sleeping.

I have nothing against anything from a medium size dog on up. It's the little yappers that I don't like.

I love my lab, but she is so high strung. She should calm down about the same time Milo does. If I make it through the next 2 years I should have a quieter house.

How big is Peanut supposed to get? I think 15-20 pounds is about is small as I'd go, but I'd consider smaller if it was mild mannered. Chihuauas and dogs of that size tend to drive me batty.

Oh god - my mother-in-law has a mini-schnauzer that is so high strung it drives me bonkers.  I don't know how they live with all the darned barking it does.

Then again, I'm the only one it listens to, including it's owner, so that amuses me.  Nothing like driving my in-laws nuts by calling the dog over, having her get all submissive in front of me and then watching her proceed to ignore them when they try.  HA!

I'm a decided big dog fan but my little 5-foot tall wife had bad experiences when she was younger.  We're in an apartment at the moment but whenever we talk someday, we go back and forth a bit.  I may have gotten her up into the 30-40 lb range now, if it's the right kind of dog.  She doesn't even care about breeds really, she just wants it to be "cute and scruffy looking."
