I like running trails. Even before I started run training I would run when my friends and I went for hikes. It drove them crazy because they were afraid of losing me.

If you get the chance, don't be afraid to post a pic or two of the trail scenery. It's nice to see where others are training, as long as it's not on a concrete or ashphalt block like mine.

It's a BEAUTIFUL day here!  To bad my ears are still all messed up and have no balance...  I don't trust myself to take my bike outside, especially with all the apple farm traffic near my house these days.  So, it's time for some biking on the trainer and Season 3 of Grey's Anatomy for me.

mbasta - 2010-10-08 7:20 PM I still have to do my planks today... but I just ate pizza. My favorite food! Doing planks after eating sucks!!

Doing the 4 min of planks a day is causing nerve problems in my hands and forearms. I developed cyclists palsy (ulnar neuropathy) the week before September. For those of you who sew, I can't turn the hand wheel to move the needle manually without great difficulty. I weigh quite a bit (about 175) and have tiny wrists, so maybe the extensive planks are a bad combination.

I don't want to mess up our stats or myself so I think I will finish out the month with modified planks from the knees to cut some pressure out. I was also thinking of trying it on the fists so that I'm not cranking my wrists. Maybe I should get some push up bars...

Can you do planks down on  your elbows with your forearms resting on the floor - and on your toes yet?

mbasta - 2010-10-08 8:46 PM I did 2 min modified standard plank, 1 min regular upward plank (because doing it from the knees is... impossible), 1 min side plank.

My plank component is lame now, I know. I still find the modifications mildly challenging so it's not a complete loss. Frown

Did your plank workout yesterday but changed it up some since I have a bad wrist from falling off a horse years ago and breaking it .  I can't put too much pressure on my wrist so I took out the upward planks and did 1 min (2X30 sec) plank on forearms, 30 sec each on each side side plank on forearm, 1 min dolphin (2X30sec) then 15 sec each side side plank and 30 sec plank on forearms.... my abs are sooooo sore today!

I have the link for the following website but I can't seem to get it working...

www.universalsports.com

I don't know any other way to watch it where I am.

Good stuff! I might have to switch off of planks because both my elbows and wrists are being adversly affected by the sudden increase in time holding my weight up with them. I'm going to trade in other isometric core exercises that are comparable and maintain the current time (4 min a day).

I can but only for a short amount of time. I'll continue working on this by doing some plank with a lot of other core endurance exercises.

Slowly slowly. Admittedly it was a 30-minute walk with a few run breaks thrown in.

Had to do serious nappage after which is why I missed the beginning of IMWC.

I read your log - congratulations on the new longest distance!

For the chafing, have you tried body glide? I get horrible blisters every time I run on my feet, even if it's only 3 or 4km, and this stuff has almost eliminated the problem (max run so far has been 7km and it's still good.)

It's exciting to see your response to your new longest run because tomorrow I am running 9km for the first time! I will use your engergy to help fuel me tomorrow.

I didn't have to DL anything but I might have something already in my system for it. Here's the exact link to the live feed in case you're not there yet.
