uhcoog - 2011-02-24 8:46 AM Rode the bike this morning and mad a pit stop at the gym to lift.  They just put together a $20 club tri there.  10 minutes in the pool, 30 minutes on a spin bike, and 10 on the dreadmill.  Not sure if I'm gonna do it.  My competitive nature will take over and I may push too hard.  That and I HATE pool swims.

Indoor tri is not worth hurting yourself.

I wouldn't be able to reign in hte desire to push as hard as I could.

jarvy01 - 2011-02-24 7:27 AM Easy run this morning + long swim tonight

Started Hal Higdon's beginner HM plan this week.  I originally was going to try the intermediate, but I had to back down.  It starts off slowly, so I should be good with this one.

I'm visiting my family out of town this weekend, so I won't be online at all.  Have a great weekend!

I've used Higdon's plans for my last two marathons and for the current one I'm training for.  They work well and that should have you prepared just fine.

Which HM are you doing?

I'm doing the Cleveland HM.  Which one are you doing?

I did a bric this morning, rode the bike on the trainer then ran outside. Question- Is it normal to get numbness from sitting on the bike? As soon as I got off the bike it went away.

Normal - yes.  Should you - no.

If you're getting numbness on the bike, you likely need a saddle adjustment / new saddle.  My husband has been having serious numbness issues and is trying to find a better saddle to help with this.

What are you riding on?

argh!

I was looking up some of the upcoming events for this year and realized one that I want to do is scheduled on Mother's Day. Who does that?!?!

I'm doubting I can do this one now, as Mother's Day is one of my busiest days of the year.

Made my workout last night - but just barely. After my running intervals I jumped in the pool for a quick 2000 yds. I was fighting some serious calf cramps in both legs starting at about 600 yds. I hate those!

Tonight I will probably jump on the trainer for 45 minutes (I got a new Spinervals DVD... "Suffer-O-Rama"), then a nice leisurely run in the 3 to 4 mile range with my wife (her recovery run), and finally some sand volleyball.

I always give Katy Mother's Day off, as she's a mom...not sure yet. MAYBE I can work that night, but I need to think about how I'll feel after the tri and whether going to work on a busy shift would be wise or not.

You know how I feel about training and racing, but with this one, a consult with the wife may be in order.  If she lets you go on Mother's Day, you may owe her two days.

You are a very bad influence.

In other thoughts, I've decided I'm doing IMTX in 2012, now I just need to get Shaun to agree.

I am using the Hal Higdon plan.  I am about 8 or so weeks in.  It is a great plan and I am very disciplined and so far no injuries . . .

Just want you all to know because of the upcoming snow storm (and my not running in such terrain) that I will need to put in 9-9.5 miles on the treadmill . . . does anyone feel bad for me????

I have only done this once and required a long movie, loud music and about 3 bottles of liquids (and several bathroom breaks since I did it at night)

aaarrrrgggghhhhh . . . don't mind the cold, but had the elements.  Ready to be done with it!!!

9 on the treadmill is yuck.  I would need some really good distractions.  Movies don't do it for me.  Maybe a good sporting event.

the same idiot that scheduled the NYC Grand Fondo on Mothers Day, totally annoyed me also, unless you wanna pay 10 fold, it pretty much relegates most married fathers to a day of wife pampering at home, especially when it is her 2nd Mothers day, lol
