Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands.I'm bored this morning, so I'm reading about day packs: choosing them, packing them, etc. Some of the articles I have read about what to pack in a day pack would get you killed if you were stranded in the woods overnight, or for a few guys. In one article the author goes on a rant on why it is not necessary to pack food in your pack unless you are going to be out in the woods for a week or more. I STRONGLY disagree with this. You need nourishment. Also, when you are cold consuming calories can help warm you up. If you're undernourished and/or cold, you aren't thinking clearly. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that thinking clearly will help you get out of a bad situation. I understand some of the authors were trying to cut down the weight in the packs, but I do not think that a bag of beef jerky, some dried fruit, and some protein bars are really not too much to carry with you. |
