Seems that everyone is ordering Zoots.  Was there a big sale?  Did I miss it?

Yes - runningwearhouse.com has last years for $60.  There was a 10% off link floating around out there, too, so I got my pair for $50.90 with free 2 day shipping.

so if I wear a 8.5 in most shoes...you think it would be that in zoot shoes? I want a pair!

What do you wear in running shoes?  I'm a different size in running shoes than my normal shoes because of feet swelling.

I wear 8.5 usually in the past few pairs of running shoes (new balance, asics....but I wear a 9 in my Newtons)...and 8 in dress shoes. so, do I need to get fitted first!? I could always run to Runners World near me...I think they carry them!?! what do you thinK?

I wear a 9 in running shoes and ordered my zoots accordingly.  They are a good fit!

you a thong wearing guy? or you want your gals to wear thongs? and we are not talking flip flops here!?!

No I don't really wear them.  But I am a big fan of the boy shorts style underwear.  Mmmm love me some of those.

I love them too.  They are comfy and still very cute.

Boxerbriefs on a guy = teh win.

Now I'm joining you in TMI land.

I'll follow y'all into TMI land...

I *heart* Hanes Low-Rise Boy Briefs!  The most comfy undies I've ever owned.

That is all.

ooooh.  i keep looking at them, and think about buying them, and then i wondered if theyre comfy or not....i wear the string bikini one, they used to be their 'sporty' style, now that call them string bikini, though not what youd think is string bikini.

anyways.  im gonna have try the boy shorts the next time i buy underwear.

i usually buy a new pack of underwear every month.

i have a 'fetish' for brand new 100% stain free underwear.

oh dear, now ive joined the TMI club.

hello there TASER ROASTE PEEPS!

back from my workout and lunch

met w my PGH MARATHON RELAY TEAM today for lunch.  what FUN!  we have a name and were ready to RUN on May 3.

got my wrkouts in beforehand to get my peach for the day.

30 min swim, hell if i know how many yards, i get tired of counting laps sometimes, dont you?  today was one of THOSE days.

60 min spinning.

GO GET 'EM.  your PEACHES that is, if you havent gotten them already.  i want to win again this week!  im SUCH a sore loser.  honestly.

you need one of those cool ring lap counters! I LOVE MINE! no more wondering...is this lap ten or eleven? easy touch of the ring and it does the counting for you! plus it is easy to read in the water...even with my OLD eyes!

your like the 2nd or 3rd person that has recommended that to me....it MUST be a msg from the universe.

hello stupid (calling myself stupid here) go and get one of those ring counters....

i noticed the other day someone touching their watch at the end of each lap, i didnt ask the guy, but i wondered if he had some sort of button on his watch that kept track of laps....

i want something you can stick/hang on the end of the wall that you can tap when you reach the wall, and then take down when your done (hang from suctions cups or a hook or something....

when i asked some swimmers i know about something like that they just gave these blank stares/puzzled looks, so im guessing no one has invented something like....

i dont do flipturns, so for me something like that would work, im thinking if you do flip turns it might not, unless it was something maybe you could hit w your feet and/or hands.

ah well.  im thinking the ring-thingy will do just fine.  GPoL thanks for the reminder.

Heh, I'm a sore loser too!  I think it's because in high school, my basketball team lost almost all our games.   Ever since then, I want to WIN all the time!

Yeah, I get tired of counting laps too.  In fact, I lost count during my first 1000 set today.  I think I ended up doing 1100 instead.  Oops!  I need one of those lap counters.

sounds like im in VERY good company.

all star, eh? what position?

Short stop

so you are a strong fielder! you go girl!

I miss my softball days.  Played from age 5 to age 18.  Played some fun midnight league, drunky, drunky softball when I was in college.  Their aren't any local women's leagues and the local co-ed's are full of testosterone men who figure if you're a girl you can't play ball.

I hear you.  I played for a bit in college too.  I miss it.  There is a league here I might have to look into.  I play third base.  Hot corner for me!

i played softball as a kid.

TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY SUCKED!

i played right field.

yep i SUCKED THAT BAD.

all this softball talk just brings back BAAAAAAAADDDDDD childhood memories for me.

im ok now.

really.

i am.

several years of therapy later.

im just fine.

thank you.

You mean like the Finis Lap Counter? Um, it's called something like that.... hold on.... I *heart* Google.....

Here you go!
http://www.finisinc.com/webstore/P-105027/Lap+Track

If you want to get it, shop around, I've seen it for less elsewhere. (Although I don't actually have one, but I saw some guy using one once, and I was curious enough to look it up online to see what it was....)

But they do make a wall mountable lap counter!

Sounds like it might not be entirely user-friendly but I'm not sure when this review was written.  Maybe they've made improvements since.  Either way, it gives you somewhere to start.

edit - oops.  I see that Dee beat me to it.  I should maybe read all the post before replying.

Hey Peeps!!  I am very happy to say that I survived today without drowning and had a great time.  The weather was really crappy but the ocean was a hell of a lot warmer than the pool here on Post has been ~ thank goodness since it was cloudy and rainy.  I am so very happy to know now that I WILL survive my swim come time for my first tri (in May.

Again, thank you for all the luck wished upon me!

YEAH YEAH YEAH YOU!  THAT'S AWESOME.

survived the SWIM, did ya?

whats your secret?

any advice.  im looking at a Sprint Tri at the end of June, but SCARED YOU KNOW WHATLESS ABOUT THE OPEN WATER SWIM....

youve given me COURAGE to go out and DO IT.

you didnt drown, i wont either!!!!!

GOOD GOIN'.

Thank you!!  And Thank you for sharing ~ that makes me feel really good...to know that I've given YOU the courage as I was scared to death.  I'll admit that when I came into the transition area I started walking and just kept repeating to myself, "it's ok, you can do this."  Walking down to the water, I must have told that to myself (yes, out loud!) a hundred times!   While in the water, every time I started getting anxious (because I felt like I wasn't moving, because just being in the ocean kind of freaked me out, or because I literally got swam over a few times) I would tell myself to calm down and would tell myself again that I could do it!

THIS will remember.  mind if i borrow your most excellent self-talk - its ok you can do this, its ok you can do this.

and getting swum over, oh my....i think thats part of what keeps me up at night, that and getting calf cramp, or getting kick (though ive heard that's the 'fun' of it) and just the general sense of dread i feel at the thought of DYING!!!!

an open water swim in the ocean, that takes GUTS, and YOU DID IT YOU DID IT YOU DID IT.  HAPPY HAPPY DANCE for you.  that was SOME accomplishment!!!  im scared of some placid, flat water lake open water swim....that's like swimming in a bathtub compared to what you just DID!  HUGE.

YOURE MY HERO (im so not kidding....)

and my INSPIRATION.

if HAPPYCHICK CAN DO IT, I CAN DO IT TOO.  THATs what ill keep telling myself    [when im chicken you know what....]

onward HO!

Sorry my posts are delayed ~ I just could not get in here yesterday.  Anwya....

Please use it...it is totally what got me thru my swim and actually enjoy (most of) it!

You can do it ~ just remember you're body will achieve what your mind conceives!  We all have our doubts and fears but I also believe that positive talk really does help (see above )

D001 - 2009-03-08 1:55 AM I *heart* Daylight Savings time. But it's 1:54 AM here now, which means in a few minutes, it'll be 2:54 AM.... which means I'll be very tired tomorrow.

I'm not a big fan of daylight savings time.  It annoys me.

It's only nice in the Spring when you gain an hours sleep BUT being over here, I don't have to worry about it as we don't do it!

I think you gain hours in the Fall and lose hours in the Spring (we went from 1 - 3 on Sunday night). Right now it feels way earlier than it actually is.

Duh...how right you are!!   Hence, Spring ahead, fall back!

ebshot - 2009-03-10 6:16 AM Got my run done.  Was supposed to be 30 minutes but could only do 20.  My heels are not happy with me.  So, I shall not run again until Saturday's 5k race and let them heal.

what unhappy heels!? dont tell me that your PURDY new shoes caused this pain???? did you wear you new zoot shoes? didnt you say you have a pair of newton shoes? this should keep you from running on  your heels...makes you run on the balls of your feet - thus causing less stress on your foot/heel.....maybe you should dust them off and try tri using them!?

I ran in my Pearl Izumi's today.  Still cut my heels a little but not as bad.  I think they might work with the new lacing but I have to let the heels heal before I can tell.  No Newtons but I would LOVE a pair.  I plan to try my zoots as soon as my heels are better.  Very excited about those.  Perhaps I will get some super band-aids and try them sooner!

I'm gonna have to check mine out to see if 1. I have another hole to lace and 2. if it'll help with my heel.  My left heel is TORE UP from these damn expensive arse shoes of mine but does that stop me?  NOooooooo, I just keep making it worse (but I am keeping my runs a lot shorter!)

K, I have a serious question here...it's more like a poll...

What kind of HRM do you have?  What bells and whistles are included?  What do you use it for?  How do you like it?  Would you recommend it to a friend?

I really, really want to get one but aren't sure if I should just get plain jane HRM or one that has other options.  I'm curious if they are worth the money and how user friendly they are.

I'm really NOT trying to get a whole page to myself (and Erica) it's just working out that way...

I have another opinion needed question but this is for those of you who have boobs that actually move when you workout...

What do you suggest one wears during a sprint triathlon?  I HAVE to wear something that keeps the girls from knocking me out but am thinking that wearing a sports bra the whole time would be really uncomfortable.  Do they make things designed for those of us who actually have boobs?  During my biathlon I wore just my bathing suit and it worked fine (it's tight fitting with a generic built in bra) but that was only 1.5 mile.  There is no way I could wear that for much more ~ not to mention it would be extremely uncomfortable on the bike.

I've worn a 9.5 in all the running shoes I've worn, so that's what I got in the Zoots as well and they fit.

I am waiting for my Polar RS200SD to get here.  It has a foot pod, so it will measure the running distance and has some good HRM features.

This will actually be my second HRM.  The first one didn't have a lap feature and had bike computer stuff, but I figured out that I hate the HRM watch on the bike.

What sports bra are you wearing that is so uncomforatble?  Sounds like you need to invest in a better one of those.

I'm a huge fan of tri shorts because they have a little padding and they dry really quickly.  I tried to put on a jersey during my first tri and it was really hard when I was wet.  Now I have a tri top and I love the separates.

I'm really NOT trying to get a whole page to myself (and Erica) it's just working out that way...

I have another opinion needed question but this is for those of you who have boobs that actually move when you workout...

Heh.  This made me laugh!  I wear my sports bra under my tri top.  I wear a U/A quick dry one and it is fine.  I can't imagine not wearing it.  I'm not super big on top but couldn't get away with not wearing one!
