seitz1124 - 2012-10-27 4:51 AM 7 Days! Good luck to everyone with what ever workout you have planned for today. Wind gusts here in Orlando are going to be up to 40mph. I'm thinking the trainer is in my future.

And that would be why I rode the trainer so much in Texas.  We had wind up to 35 MPH pretty much on a daily basis.  20 and under was no wind for down there.  Seriously anyone who wnats to train wind and heat needs to head down to south Texas.

Our group ride was postponed until tomorrow due to the wind.  It's not that we couldn't ride in wind, just saw no sense taking any chances at this stage of the game.  The normal wind is doable, it is the gusts that scare me.   I will ride the trainer today instead as I cannot ride tomorrow.

I'm with Socks, when you live in S Florida you just take the storms as they come.  The forecasters are just as wrong as they are right.

enjoy all,

Duane

to play it safe...i'm throwing everything into a bag and leaving tomorrow with my parents (who were originally driving my gear down anyway). My husband is staying back to make sure the house and my kitties are ok and will get down to FL as soon as he can. I'm stressed but at least I have a plan and know I'll be there in time!

So...if I live in the "screwed" bubble, I can pretty much kiss IMFL 2012 good bye, right?

Just read this on CNN:

At least four states in its path, as well as the nation's capital, have declared states of emergency, and some airlines have announced they will allow passengers to change existing flights to and from Atlantic coast cities free of charge.

If you are flying down, check the airline, you might be able to switch.

Thanks.  I think Delta is one of those airlines.  But to when is the question.  I'm concerned that registration ends on Thursday afternoon and if the entire East coast is trying to change flights to avoid the storm's impact, then it's possible that we might miss registration.  Do you think IMFL will re-open registration on Friday morning because of travel issues for folks who live on the East Coast?

Man, I've done all this training and prepared for a year or so for this race and then Mother Nature decides to flex her muscles....couldn't you wait until after the race???

I know it was meant to be funny...and so was my response.

Making contingency plans so I can try to still make it.  Hopefully I'll see y'all there.

Stupid question,
Do we need a timing chip strap or will they have some? I want to order any last minute things I may need today.

Every race I've ever done I've been given a band for the chip.

I was able to get in a ride outside! I'm hoping Saturday in PCB isn't nearly as windy!

They will give you one.  Usually they let you keep it too.

Thanks for the confirmation,
I got 1.5 hr trainer ride, it's raining here in Charleston SC. Any other time I would ride outside in the rain, but to close to take any chances now.

It's been kind of sneaking up on me, but today I'm EXCITED !

Weather forecast for PCB next Saturday is Beautiful!  Sunny, 56 degrees at 6 am,  high of 75,  68 at 6 pm and 62 at Midnight.  Winds - 3-5 mph all. day. long.  I cannot think of a nicer day to do an Iron Man.

Packing today.  after a nap perhaps.  I'm just not used to not having a 6 hour ride on Saturday. Tongue out

I fly down there Tuesday.  Anyone up for a morning swim on Wednesday?
