Finally finished my RR after a week of camping and being away from computers and phones.

A note to those of you feeling kind of a letdown after the race.  It's pretty normal actually, especially if it's your first IM.  You've spent so much time and effort getting there and now suddenly you have no immediate goal to push for any longer.  The feeling will pass and you'll be on to your next race or whatever other goals you have so no worries.

Here is something fun to do, check your place in your age group, then go to another race and compare  that same placement, example I was 98th in my group, Ironman Canada was 35 minutes faster for 98th and IM Florida was almost an hour faster for 98th place. I know it's unscientific but I am still thinking that IMCDA was one tough course

I didn't even pay attention but I got 56th in my division at IMCDA this year and 56th in my division at IMTX last year.  Although I thought that IMCDA was a tougher course than Texas but my time was 20 minutes faster at CDA.  The heat at TX must be why the times are slower?

I am so happy to hear you say that   I wanted to do my first IM by the time I was 35 (5/26/13) so I was set on Texas, then the delays, then my coach and a training partner signed up for CdA, and I had to choose between my dream of doing it at 34 or doing it with people I know (and how cool is it to do your first IM with your coach that you've trained with for over a year and who pretty much got you there... and she's faster, she'll get to the finish line first lol).

I hear CdA has more of the Kona experience, i.e. tremendous crowd support, the crowd loves it and eats it up especially on the run.  And how much can Texans love their IM when it took this long to even get it opened....

Looking forward to it!  I hear CdA is an amazing and pretty experience

I did TX in 2011 and I spent the whole run wishing for cold weather.  That's why I'm doing CDA next year.  Deb, I think you made the right choice.

I raced with a ton of friends when I did TX (I lived in Houston up until 5 months prior to the race), and you cannot understimate the boost you get when you see friendly faces all over the place.  I did all my training here alone and the race was like one big reunion with my old training buddies.

We are going to have a blast!

I'm in for 2013 - still hard to believe I'm going to be doing an Ironman in my hometown.

We need to get our own 2013 thread going here pretty soon.

Well, I just tried, but no luck.  I added it to my race log, but there is no "Start Thread" link like there is on my other races - and I don't see where any one else has started a thread.  Maybe more people have to add it to their race logs???

This is just for you guys who got really cold during the swim.  We're what, only 2 1/2 weeks since race day and the water temp is 72 degrees!  Just thought I'd throw that out there for you.

Its also been well over 90 degrees air temp for a while now. I will take the chilly water we had any day over that kind of heat for the bike and run!! It was just about a perfect day out there.
