Had a good swim bike brick today. 1800 meter swim 58 minutes then strainght onto the bike for a 30 minute ride. 8.6 miles. My legs were very tired on the ride today. I think I must have been kicking more than usual during the swim.

I got bored today and crunched the numbers then charted my miles in swim bike and run individually and plotted them in a graph by month to look at progress for the year. It was interesting to crunch it all and look at how I have been doing. I now know why I was beat in July.

I was sick Jan to May (ya pretty much that whole time) so that had a big impact on the bike miles .

Bike Jan-May average 69 miles per month, June-July average 270, Aug-Sept 409 miles

Run Jan-May average 78 miles per month, June-July average 79, Aug-Sept 91 miles

Swim Jan-May average 0.16 miles per month, June-July average 10.5, Aug-Sept 10 miles

Anyway just the ponderings of a man still in low workout mode post HIM = too much time to look at stuff.

I like the LIVESTRONG on the frame, did you add that yourself?  And why is it that so many tri bikes are Cervelos?  I'm at the point where I'm recognizing people by their bikes, he's the Kestrel, or there's the Giant, or the Seven.  There are a few people I ride with that I wouldn't have a clue who they were out of their riding kits.

Excuse me while I leave the room to go change my underwear!!!   I wonder what size a medium frame is.  I've never heard a bike described that way.

LOL!  Got a good laugh from that.

So many tri bikes are Cervelos because they're awesome!  Cool  Mine is the P2SL (for 2009, renamed to P1).

Seriously, they are some of the best bang for the buck.  But even more important is how you fit on a bike and how comfortable you are on it.  You can have the fastest, most aerodynamic, carbon, tricked out $8,000 bike, but if you don't feel good on it, little sister on her $800 used aluminum tri bike might just scoot on by!

For $8000.00 the bike had better be a great fit. For the price I am looking for I could buy 5 or 6 tri bikes. Yikes!!!!!

The article just posted of the transcript with coach AJ has a question about road vs. tri bike.  Reiterates what we've been talking about the last couple days.

"For my first tri - should I buy a road bike (like the Cervelo S2) and just put aero bars on it... or should I buy a 'real' tri bike, like the P2C?"

[Coach AJ] It depends on how you will use the bike and the riding in your area. A Tri bike will always accommodate the TT position better. However, if you will be riding in hilly areas a road bike is better. If you ride with a group a road bike handles more predictably and typically is safer. Basically, the road bike is better in an all around sense, but the TT bike is certainly faster on race day. As for make, the one that fits your body and wallet is best!

I went to spin class at the gym today, first time in a long time since it's been so nice here this year.  They have new bikes since last time I was there and they have a diplay of HR, RPM, etc.  One thing I thought was interesting was distance.  I've never logged my spin class time as cycling (other sport), but now that know how 'far' I 'rode' I'm unsure if that might be a better classification.

Thoughts? Does spin distance = ride distance?  Does it really matter?

Spin distance couldn't equal ride distance - the effort is different, and no wind resistance.

However, I think spin distance is useful as a comparison for your spin rides.  Rather than comparing it to real rides, keep track of it against other spin rides to gauge your progress.  I think that would be a better measure than time.

Tracy HAPPY B-DAY!!! Hope you enjoy... Maybe you will get those PINK AEROBARS YOU ARE WANTING!!!??!?

Spinning... While great TRAINING... I think you can log that as a "STATIONARY BIKE?"  I think if you posted this question in the forum, you would open PANDORA'S BOX!!! That is a tough call.....

Spin Class is available under 'other sports' which is how I've logged it in the past and will likely continue to log it - the miles don't really feel like 'miles'.

I've seen the debates over there and wouldn't want to be the cause of one - or maybe I could ask about lifting wieghts while riding a spin bike.  That ought to ruffle even more feathers.

That is awesome... Those are sweet, and the software is super cool.... There is also another software out there that works well, and has a few more options... Take a look!! .... I think you should get the watch version... Garmin 305 (no edge)... That way you can wear it on the bike then just jump off, and still use it will running ... You are a FINELY TUNED MULTISPORT ATHLETE!! YOU NEED ALL THE TOYS!!

The bike thing.... A work in progress.  I am learning as I go, but the neat part is that I am really learning about the bike, and it's parts!!!  The hardest part is wiring the cable THROUGH THE BIKE FRAME!  It has internal cables so this is the TRICKY PART!! Hope to be riding by this weekend, but the WEATHER FORECAST SUCKS!!!!
