Registered today to race the CapTex OLY tomorrow with 2999 other people.  Big pro race.  Part of the Toyota Cup.

Got the Garmin 910, but it won't pair with the ANT stick.  Don't think I'm going to use it tomorrow, no new distractions on race day.  I'm going to like it though.

Chris, glad your foot is ok.

Mark, nice bike.  It looks fast!

Rachel hope you feel better.

Jim, nice race.  MAF rules!

Anyone up for IM Brazil next Memorial Day weekend???

Are you signing up for IMBR 2013? Better be ready on that computer June 1st at 10am when it opens up, it used to take a week but now it sells out in minutes. Why Brazil and not a local cheaper Ironman?

Chris, glad to hear that you got clearance from the doc to run!

Jim, congrats, awesome time on your 5k!

Jackie, best of luck tomorrow on your Oly and I wish I could be there to cheer you back Wink

Mark, congrats on the new bike, looking good!

Rachel, I'm sending my positive vibes your way!

Mitch and Andy, keep up the great work with the challenge!

In terms of aero helmets, I ended up using one for my IM for the first time (I know one should not do anything new for an IM, but there is a great story behind it) and not only did I felt a boost of confidence/coolness with it, but I'm positive it helped with my time, especially with the strong headwinds that we experienced during the last 40 miles.

How I came across my cool Rudy Project flashy green aero helmet was thanks to the kindness of our fellow mentor and friend, Ernesto!  He basically tricked me into not turning in my transition bags until when he arrived and then when we met he said that he forgot the aluminum foil medals that I had won for the past 3 challenges.   In exchange however, he said he had something else for me - which turned out to be a brand new, super cool Rudy Project aero helmet.  I'm still in awe at such a generous gift which I ended up using and very much enjoying during my 6:10 bike ride, so again, thank you very much Ernesto! Here is a link to some pics from my IM along with a couple on the bike with my cool new helmet!

1hr 23' run on Sunday.

I broke down and pulled the trigger on the aero helmet.  The course is notoriously windy, but it also looks so bada$$ that I couldn't resist.

Runners of the group - looking for some guidance.  My Half Marathon is on Sunday, June 3rd.  I'm trying to settle on a time to shoot for.  The race is a net elevation loss but rollers throughout.  It was hot last year and no idea what the weather will bring on Sunday morning.  Curvy course so you're in and out of shade.  Any thoughts on what you folks think I can do is appreciated. My run on the 29th gave me a lot of confidence.

Run from May 20th - 1:42:17: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/180033063 (Avg HR 163)

Good luck Jackie!

Missed a few workouts last week.  Between the USAF Academy graduation with the President as the keynote speaker and an impromptu luch that turned into an all day event.  Took one morning off to spend some one on one time with my son.  Then Friday and Sat, Scott and I were down in Pueblo officiating at the NCAA Division II championships.  The 2 days there don't count for the challenge but I sure got a workout!  Ran yesterday and today I amd going for a bike this am and a run later.

Ernesto- Instead of my normal bike I am driving it down to the bottom of the hill and then I'll ride the flats (flat for here).  I was thinking that if I feel frisky after that I can head up "The Loop".  It is THE training loop hear with a massive and long hill.  I was thinking that I'll see how far I make it then turn around and enjoy the ride back down.  By the end of the summer I hope to make up around the entire loop.

I will update my logs later.

Hope everyone has a great day

I'd target 1:40:00 pace.  If it is hot, then the number likely goes up and it is a matter of toughing it out.

New accomplishment today.  Nice bike ride, 20.8 miles avg speed 15.3.  HR off due to malfunction in the beginning but it read 156.  This was the first time I rode over 14 miles in a year, since we moved here.  I was very happy!  Now to eat and a run tonight.

This challenge helped me get out of my slump and train again so I am definitely up for another challenge.

http://connect.garmin.com/player/183081938      This is as flat as it gets!!!!!

Able to find time to spend 45 minutes on the trainer.  This was in between trimming all of the hedges in our front yard, lunch, carting kids around town and still left to do a trip to Lowes to get mulch, dinner and everyone to bed.  My wife and I were shaking our heads today at how busy our life's have become.

Went back through my logs to update everything after this weekend.  Must have been updating totals without updating s/b/r a few times. Think everything is right now.

Thanks for a nice run this weekend Jim, hope we can get together to do it again soon.

I'm in for the challenge again for June.  Hope to improve the bike numbers next month.  They were sorely lacking for May.

Mitch-  I'd shoot for about 1:35-1:40 pace depending on the heat race day.  It looks like you've got the legs for it.

10K race today. Starting temp was 80 degrees F at the 8:00am start time. The bad news about this is there was no PR. I finished 30 seconds slower than my PR from last year in temps only 2 degrees cooler. The good news is that, for the first time, my legs gave out for whatever reason before my heart rate did. The closest I got to my max heart rate of 188 was 181. My heart rate was down throughout the race and other than my legs feeling like bricks on the uphills I felt pretty comfortable with the pace even in the heat.

Catching up with my last two days worth of workouts.  Pool's been closed at the Y for annual cleaning so I went out for another open water swim.  Had a great bike ride today, super windy but still 65 miles in 3:38ish. That's just about the same time my bike split was for Austin 70.3 last year.  And a short run during my son's baseball practice on tired legs from biking.

And, does anyone have any tips on my Garmin Edge 500?  It won't download onto Garmin Connect anymore.  When I plug it into the computer and hit the "Upload" button on my Garmin page it pulls up the rides but just stays on the "Uploading" page forever.
