Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty RidiculoSnarky Almost Intelligent-Charming Manatees PART 4 - Full

Hey manatees!  Boy, things move so fast in this thread!  I've had a busy past 2 days, taking my dad for treatment for his lung cancer.  Thankfully everything went well (ablation of the tumor) but I can't help but wonder and worry what effect burning all these tumors will eventually have on the structure of his lungs.  This is the third or fourth time he's had the procedure done.  The latest tumor was 2 cm but the doc burnt about 4 cm to be sure he didn't leave any edges like he did that last time (this tumor came back at the same site as the last one that was treated).

So because of getting to pick him up from the hospital sooner than expected (and because of very heavy rains later in the day) I didn't get to do my 1.48 run miles to make my goofy little goal.  No worries, in the big scheme of things it's nothing, I just wanted to get a laugh out of me, the non-runner, to have more running miles than biking miles.

Good luck to all racing manatees on Sunday!  Have fun, be safe, and kick butt!! I will be leaving in a few hours to go to my sister's who live like 5 minutes from the race.  Trying to convince her we shouldn't go drinking today will be a challenge; I already told her we can gladly do that tomorrow when I'm done, just not today!!   Well, maybe one or two little light beers or something, with plenty of water with it!

Glad to hear things went well with your dad's procedure. All the hospital visits can be ough! Good luck on your race--and with your sister!!

Sorry to hear that about your dad, but glad it went well.  My dad had some tumours on his lung removed about ten years ago, secondary to bowel cancer - he's been clear for a long time now but it's a big worry and exhausting all the hospital time and caring etc!

Running is a great thing you can do to clear your head and to have some 'me time'.  Good luck with the race and avoiding a big night with your sister!

Well it's 6am Sunday morning - WTF!!!  Had oatmeal and toast with peanut butter, a cup of tea and some water.

After IM my mission for 2013 is to find races that start after 9am.  I am sick of getting up this early.  Yeah it's the best part of the day, but just once on a Sunday it would be nice to wake up when I'm good and ready!

I actually don't like popcorn!

Had a great day at the HM yesterday, I found it easy (definitely didn't go hard!)  I decided to keep it as a training run, set out very cruise speed, increased speed at 7km and again at 14km, in fact my last 7km was my fastest and I enjoyed lots of overtaking as i had so much left in my legs.  Thanks Jeff Galloway for all those run/walk tips!

I've done the RR such as it is.  Baptism was okay - I'm not big on Greek Orthodox as a religion, very much pomp and ceremony and less about what it should be.  Poor baby gets stripped naked and it was cold, covered in oil and dunked in a font of water, then priest has to snip a lock of hair and poor Persephone she's not got much and I think he pulled it coz she shrieked!  In fact she cried all the way through.

BUT the feast was good - so much food, even a HM didn't justify what i ate!

I'm tired, a bit depressed this morning, standard for a post race morning.

WHAT!?!?! NOT like popcorn?!?! oh sad. That's okay, I can eat your share as well.

Great job on your HM! As for the Baptism--you know, I have never seen/been to one..but I am betting I would have felt the same as the baby with all that stuff happening to me!

I think the Folsom Olympic Triathlon is my new favorite. And NO, its not because I came in 3rd in the athena division, OR because I was within 3 minutes of my goal of 3 hours, 30 minutes. It was just downright well done! Aid stations were where they were needed, the courses were great (well, except for the 2nd quarter of the bike, which was ALL uphill in a headwind, but that will be in my RR), and there was even an 'instructional cheerleader' placed at the bike/run out of transition! (even after the race--the guy brought a smile to my face every time I was there!). So apparently, if you place a this race, you win a bottle of wine....kinda a bummer, as I don't like wine, so I will find a home for the pretty bottle of chardonnay (sp????).

In any case, Great race, awesome swim, decent bike, and best run I have ever done. I will get to the RR either tonight or tomorrow....Just amped up and tired (AT THE SAME TIME) right now...so I'm a wee bit loopy(er than normal)...

wow sounds fabulous!

I had a sprint off at the finish of the HM but my legs couldn't catch the 20 year old - she sped up when she heard I was coming, but it was funny with the commentator calling it - here's Joanne and xxxxx sprinting for the line etc.  Love it!

So being at home with the 'rents has gone so perfectly and smoothly (in a country where nothing ever goes quite the way you think it will or ought), I feel like I'm on a set of the Stepford Wives. Waiting for the boom to swing ...

However, my sister and I are awaiting my father's pleasure in his private sitting room (solar?) ... hopefully he'll just go through History of the World (and his munificent role) parts I, II, and III and never get around to our slander, subterfuge, and insolence.

I shall keep you updated. My laptop is charged for 3 hours and I am prepared to go the distance ... BTing. ("taking notes" for our important meeting)

Well this is good. My father's bought a 10-slot spot at a cemetery (for himself; doesn't want to be buried in a national/heroes cemetery because we all can't be buried with him) ... so we can all be together for eternity.

I'm okay with that. It's in a really nice park. With a lake, trail, ducks and stuff.
