Chris, I'm so glad that you you are OK.  I try to wave at drivers (I think that their brain clicks to the "that's a human" setting) but you can't always do that.  Yesterday I was running.  It was early.  I had reflective gear on my ankle, shirt, shorts, head and a light on my head.  Did they stop at the stop sign or pull right in front of me while I was in the intersection?  Be careful out there!

Agreed, I wave to everyone, cars, trucks, other bikes, motorcycles, grannies with walkers. I don't care who it is, I'm happy they are out there and hopeful they don't run me over One of the nice parts of my bike club was a couple of training rides that we did, we went through bike handling, stopping, clipping, unclipping, turns, water bottle retrieval, etc. I went and it was informative. I really think everyone that rides should take advantage of something like that, if it is available. And try to take a few minutes out of every ride to do more of the same, in an effort to gain more comfort and confidence on the bike. I LOVE the fact that Jo is taking the coaching to heart and pushing herself to be more comfortable on the bike. It is just so important and raises the safety aspect if you are more comfortable. Just my 2 cents.

You wouldn't get in a car without having learnt how to drive it properly..I imagine anyway!  Same with all things for me, I read the instructions or I take the lessons!

ArielLIlB - 2012-09-29 1:57 AM Hi everyone, hope you are all well!  Thanks to everyone who left me inspires.  I've been so out of touch lately, with my pod and with training in general; not sure why, just soooo busy with work and activities.  I'm back in business this week, with a quick run, Computraining and boot camp on the logs.  I've got an 8miler on tap for this weekend, got to get the HM training back on track too.  Looking to be more present now

Welcome back!  Seems like you found your mojo - mine goes missing sometimes - this week being one though I did get sick too.

I'm about to either hop on the bike or go for a run, weather forecast is hail and thunder but right now it's sunny maybe should get the run out of the way and if it should be dry tomorrow take the bike to the park again.

See talking it through i made the decision!

Enjoy your 8miler

OKAY WATCH OUT HERE THEY COME.......SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile Dunno why it just happened -mmm maybe coz DH and DD have gone away for a few days, I get to hang out with me and my friends and not be mummy or wifey!  I left dishes in the sink today and I don't care!

I've done no training at all since Monday!  I thought about getting up for 5.15am squad today but really it was dark and my bed was so comfortable.  I'll get back to it all tomorrow!  I can't train today - lunchtime we got a bbq at work, and tonight I'm out with my girlfriends for dinner.

Oh I seem to have signed up for something....

http://ironmanauckland.com/

I haven't done any training since Monday, either, but I didn't sign up for an IM.

It's a half...not a full I'm not totally insane, well a little!

Go Racing Manatees!

September 29-30
TJ - Hot Chocolate 15k on Sunday
Kristen KIRSTEN- Surrey International World Music Marathon on Sunday

You will do us proud!

Chocolate and music that's a good combo!

I'm looking forward to this race.  It's flat! and this is advertised as the finishers "medal"

Wow. That is super. Have fun.

Hey y'all.  Been out of touch for a few days--Thursday is my crazy busy day at work, Fridays aren't much better.  So I missed the first Go Racing Manatees, or I wudda corrected my name sooner...sorry, but pet peeve o' mine

Ok, so anyone who has glanced at my blog this past week will have seen that I was dealing with a sore leg.  Got in to see my chiro this AM (she is also a friend which is nice), and yes, my pelvis was rotated again.  Thus the tight hamstring, thus the knee with no ACL giving out.  I was getting worried that I was not going to be able to race this weekend.  I would have run either way, but I have worked hard for this race and really want to do well.  Sooo, I am going to do a ton of stretching tonight and tomorrow and hope that now that my pelvis is back in place, all will go well on Sunday.  Of course, it is my own fault because I don't do my exercises regularly...

So, at the risk of leaving anyone out...Yanti, glad the surgery went well, but sorry about the kitty.  I usually have dogs that need baths--skunks, raccoons, etc.  Salty I would love to come watch you run sometime.  Maybe one day we will do a race together and I will get to see you.  For 5 seconds at the start until you leave me like I'm standing still.  Jo, glad you got a 5 smiley day.  Chris, I am really glad you were not hit on your ride.  Jen, sorry yours have been sick lately.  Prayers for quick convalescence.  TJ best of luck at your race.  I am really looking forward to all the music on mine, but I think I would appreciate the chocolate on yours!  Brie, nice to see you!

Ok, I think I am caught up.  Have a great weekend everyone!

cdban66 - 2012-09-27 4:34 PM Kate, great to hear about school. Now off to the hard part! Or is this the easy part? Salty, I agree with Ann-Marie. I near puked reading that workout. Yanti, I hope your mouf and toofs all heel up OK. I'm glad that mess is all behind you. Felicia, no wisdom teeth? Really, you lucky so and so. My oral surgeon explained that the human body could only feel so much pain, so having all 4 out at the same time wouldn't hurt too much more then 1 at a time. I think he lied. Jo, I'm glad you are feeling better. Keep on smiling! Reece, you are the man! Great job at Branson, those hills look a bit daunting to me. OK, I was on my ride home today when it nearly happened. Let me start out by explaining that I live in a retirement area. This is where little old ladies can barely see over the steering wheel of their Lincoln Continentals. All you see is two hands on the wheel and a puff of blue hair. So I am 3 miles from home (remember that most accidents happen within 4 miles of the home) and some oncoming idiot decides to turn into his driveway. So he cuts right in front of me. Did I mention that the only color jersey I have is High Vis Yellow? At 6'3" and 215 lbs in a glowing shirt, I'm hard to not see. Oh, but due to my superior bike handling skillls (yeah, not so much), and by the Grace of God, I was able to swerve and avoid him. Less than a mile later, same thing, but this time there were more cars around. I threw my tail end off the back of the bike, squeezed the brakes, and luckily I didn't go tail over head. I actually managed to stay upright and get past her. And I didn't even curse the friggin' old bitty. Until now. The moral of the story is be alert and practice bike handling skills any chance you get. Have a safe day everyone, I'm off to scrounge up dinner!

Oh jeez - glad your bike handling skills are AMAZEBALLS!  Seriously though, glad you're ok doub.

Open Water Swim Calendar is out !  Here's what I've thought about....

SAT NOV 24TH      1.5KM
SAT DEC 1ST         1KM
SAT DEC 8TH         1.2KM
SAT DEC 15TH       1.2KM - there's also a 4km....
WED DEC 26TH     1.2KM - there's also a 5km....
SAT JAN 12TH        1.2KM
SAT JAN 26TH        1.4KM
SAT FEB 23RD        3.0KM - this is at my squad training site, last year I did the 1.2km this year ...
SUN MAR 17TH       1.2KM

I figure if I do half of these in varying conditions I should get comfortable in the ocean!

I think the open water swim plan is great - do as many as you can!!

It's my most favorite paaaage, in the wooooorld ...

We had a Kat Kerosene Krisis tonight (I posted a desperate plea for help in CoJ and on FB). Dealt with, and thank God, she seems to be fine.

Trust my Funny Feline to come in late on a Friday night (when I don't have a car) literally soaked and dripping kerosene (awesome! I love that smell!) and I'm supposed to be strictly resting.

Oh jeez - the adventures of your cat are crazy!  Doesn't she know her mommy is medicated and sick and needs to be not dealing with kerosene cat-spa treatments?!

(hope you're feeling better, yant!)

ok - so thanks for all your advice on the crossfit thing.  I actually (after all that) think I may pass on it and focus on dryland CC ski training.

(short history: I grew up downhill ski racing through high school and college, then coached (my family is in the ski business - very convenient).  After grad school I totally stopped downhill skiing (location) and picked up CC skiing 2 years ago for something to do active during the winter.  My first season I registered for the Birkebeiner (a 50k skate race) before i EVER put on CC skis - typical Tracy - diving in head first.... http://www.birkie.com/page/show/104564-home - largest CC ski race in North America - so awesome!  I live only about 2 hours from the location of the race and alot of people in my area are big into CC skiing - it's fun to have a big scene.  So I 'learned'  how to ski and am hooked (suprise suprise).  This will be my 3rd season and coming off my IM I feel like i'm in pretty good shape and want to see how this ski season shapes up before growing a baby.)

ANYway.  My plan is to trail run, bike one day a week, rollerski and strength train until my official training plan starts.  I'm going to a camp in a few weeks - should be a super learning experience (because i'm still new to the sport) and I'd like to be in shape for what we're going to be doing there.  SOOOooo trail running it is Also, alot of my new tri friends CC ski so I have a crew - always better with a crew, right?!

Also, thanks for all the photog. love!  I update my blog everytime I have a session (or go hunting with my DH and radical dog) - so check in  Now that tri season is over I'm seeing my photog stuff pick up again.  I have a pet (dog) session (my FAVORTIE kind of session) and a high school senior session this weekend.  Should be fun - it's going to be BEAUTIFUL in the Twin Cities this weekend! yay!

Stay safe and healthy, friends!

Cool that you know what a toller is! They are super rare around the midwest - everyone thinks they're a golden/border collie/something mix.

Pippa "Pace Booty" Middleton put in a really respectable time at Vasaloppet, which is no joke.

I'm not kidding: when it gets tough out there this winter, I'm going to think "if pippa can do it, I can do it!" then I'm going to imagine catching that pace booty of hers!

Go RACING MANATEES, TJ and KIRSTEN!!!!!

Hi all-just checking in to say that yes, I am alive. Family issues are finally settling to a point where I can breathe a little.  I am enjoying the peace when I get it.

I want to let you know that I am lurking and stalking.  I don't say much but once a manatee, always a manatee, so you can't get rid of me.

You all are rocking out your training!!  Thanks to everyone for the inspires.  Even if I haven't responded, know that they mean a lot that you all are checking in and thinking of me.  I'll try to get better about it.

May your weekend be filled with piglets and pop-tarts and everything else wonderful!!! {{{Group Melon Press}}}

What a gorgeous fishie! The shading and lines are perfect. Also, if you squint a bit and look at it cross-eyed, it could be a Manatee
