Sensei ![]() | ![]() ratherbeswimming - 2012-11-14 9:39 AM You know that feeling when you're actually on top of your finances? I've got it now - and I bet it won't last long... Nice feeling, right? I have been debt free for the last 10 years or so and plan to stay that way (not including cars/house)... It's a great feeling. I was in a panic there for a while if I had to go out of pocket for 100% of my medical expenses - I figured I might get wiped out... But made it work! |

![]() | ![]() So my co-worker next door is being booted from his office (into a cube) because some senior manager moved into our building and they don't have an office available in his area. This senior manager works in a completely different business segment, different floor of the building, and all of his reports are on the different floor. How does this make business sense? |

This senior manager works in a completely different business segment, different floor of the building, and all of his reports are on the different floor. How does this make business sense? When ego is envolved, sense goes out the window sometimes. So should this other guy be in a cubical? The obviously thought we was "more important" than the guy booted. |

This senior manager works in a completely different business segment, different floor of the building, and all of his reports are on the different floor. How does this make business sense? Many ways it makes sense: Maybe his flatulence was not welcomed in his floor, so they send them to yours. Maybe he is really the CEO filming an episode of "Undercover Boss" Maybe your coworker park by mistake on some big wig parking spot, and this is retribution. Or, maybe, just maybe, we should stop looking for business sense int big corporate America. |

I think it comes down to the ridiculous company policy that a senior manager is guaranteed an "office"... even if it makes little sense on where it is or who they displace in the process. There is another "senior manager" in our area whose direct reports are 2 floors up - we've always been baffled by it as well. They spend most of their days tromping up and down the stairs to meet with each other and do their work. At least they are getting some stair stepping in! Healthy employees! |

I'm pretty senior and would want an office. BUT, I think I could survive a cubical stay for a short time untill something could get worked out. I'm not just going to displace someone. |

I hope to catch some of the stuff online if I'm not family-busy this weekend. I'm fine. No pressure, really. I am completely undertrained and have zero expectations. Finishing my even be doubtful. BUT, I know I can breeze the swim and it looks like a great day for a bike ride. The run? Well, we'll see. If I didn't drop $700 on it, I may not even go. But with all that comes ZERO pressure. With three under my belt. I don't have anything to proove. So if I start, it's a win. |
