It's not for anyone else but me, Wont' even be visible. Yes, I am positive I want it. ATXtri - 2009-06-26 8:48 AM Ooh and I'm going to get my mdot tattoo this weekend so I'll make sure to post a pic of it, as well. First, congrats on finishing an IM. Its an enormous accomplishment. I'm not knocking your choice, but are you *really* sure you want one? Its a rather permanent decision, even with lasing, you still have a mark there if you ever decide you want to remove it for some reason. I personally would likely do a decal for a while to see if I really really REALLY wanted to do that. I'm sure it will look fine on you, but I've seen some people who should've known better, including a middle-aged woman in MS that I rode with a few times - and who had lost a LOT of weight in her fitness process but unfortunately had some loose skin that only Dr. 90210 was going to be able to do anything about - that had one put on her leg, and Becky just looked silly - its the equivalent for some middle-aged people of getting a sports car with the bald spot peeking out - and that's how she looked. That's a good spot. I love the tattoo on my wrist. Post pics once it's done. ![]() that's where i want my next one, however i feel it might be perceived as unproffessional. ugh. |

Eh..I was worried about it when I first got it and always covered it up when I went to meet with the doctors I work with or my committee. One day I didn't and no one said anything, so I stopped worrying about it. I've only had one person say anything and she was surprised that I had any tattoos and wondered how long she had not noticed it. Plus, no one in grad school really seems to care about much of anything as long as you get your work done. ![]() |

Nice choice. Now, I'm going to sound totally hypocritical but I've gone back and forth over getting something small and meaningful only to me... maybe a 26.2 somewhere innocuous. I have the oval magnet on a cabinet in my office, but I'm not going to be tacky and plaster stickers on my car like I see so many other yuppies doing with that and their kids' soccer # and team. I don't need validation from others to know that I knocked out a marathon so they can go 'oooh, ahhh, you're awesome.' I get enough of that - unasked - when I go to the jam session and play well (I do not want or expect compliments on the nights I suck, and that happens more often than I would like). But I've got a huge scar - right in the middle, that starts at my ribcage and runs all the way down to Mr. Happy from where they removed the lymph nodes behind my stomach in '83 to see if they had cancer in them (which, fortunately, they didn't). So another part of me figures that's all the tattoo I need. If I ever do another marathon again, I might do the 26.2 thing - ironically, I'm better at running than I am at cycling (part of that has to do with my terror of crashing in a race - crits scare the hell out of me) even though I enjoy cycling more. Running is torture but I feel like I've accomplished something when I'm finished. Anyway, a gear or a bike tattoo just seems - well, pointless haha. I am way too serious today. Sorry, I probably shouldn't be posting until the grieving crap is over - I keep wanting to punch my cell and tell my Dad about how my tomatoes are growing - he loved tomatoes and growing them - and that option is gone now. ![]() I put an mdot sticker on my car last night. FYI |
