Oh well, they are too funny to not share.

This is an excert from a series of emails between dave and I  (or is it me?)

I'm currently programming a lot, so it messes up my sleep schedule.  I made a little calendar, kind of like the one on BT.  Except I have complete control over this one!  Bwahahaha!  I'm going to generalize it beyond triathlon, and even beyond sports, but I can reveal nothing because you're a high ranking BT spy.  Not that I want to take down BT--I think we can coexist peacefully.  But BT's programmers, although less clever than I am, are probably more proficient and faster at implementing an idea.

The people I'm taking down:  TrainingPeaks.  The bastards.

So how bad is it to share emails that I have received without checking with the author???

guess it depends on how juicy the emails are.

Funny!

Would love to see that calendar. I actually often wish I could combine my BT and OUtlook calendars. Maybe you can but I just not savvy enough.

D001 - 2009-02-02 8:26 PM Ugh. I am still working on the evaluation of my boss. I don't know if I will submit it or not. She isn't the forgiving type.... And yes, there are positive things in it. Also, I'm trying to phrase the negatives in a way that are "constructive" rather than just.... negative. Ugh. Most of my department said they aren't turning it in....

sounds like a tough situation

are the reviews anonymous?

Does sound tough. I guess it isn't mandatory to turn them in?

ooooh-you are taking down the 'official software' of USA Triathlon, Triathlon Canada, and British Triathlon?  wow!   So once TrainingPeaks is smashed into obliteration will you be filling those contracts?

 And his reply:

No, I won't take those contracts, because I hate USA Triathlon.  Taking them down is the ultimate goal, as they require money from all athletes but serve a purpose for only a tiny percentage.  USAT is bad for triathlon.

TrainingPeaks is in my sights because they make crappy software, but they also have an effective monopoly.  And I work under the philosophy that an athlete should have complete control over their data.  BT needs to understand that too.

I am fairly sure that he is serious about the program.   I just hope that it is part of his PhD project-which is quite possible.  But then again...

As long as he doesn't take down BT. It would be the end of Nibbs and that can never be. Hmmmm! Nibbs may need to send a spy out there to stop him. Who shall we send? MEL!!

It's better for him to have a side programming project that isn't his PhD.  It helps you stay in the programming mindset when you don't want to work on your project or you get stuck.  Very helpful.

Yes, I know from experience.  Unfortunately.

He had been starting this program a while back...he was discussing it with my friend Maneesh.   The conversation was ended at the time because I might leak the info to BT

You're right about the benefits of having a non school project that keeps up your skills, but he is the type that can get super focused and forget about the rest of the world.   Except training.

That's the good thing about the tri stuff.  You over do in one.. you go on to the next sport.

Monday was a loser day for me. I found out DH will be gone until Sunday. That is a total of 5 weeks away.

I am not surprised. It takes a while to feel better after a real challenge. The most miles ever at a clipping pace in ungodly weather. YUP it may take a bit. You should swim more this month.
