Master 2638 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread turtlegirl - 2010-08-19 2:48 PM anyone have suggestions for run chafing? I can't wear tri shorts to run...got some terrible issues from two different chamois. Regular spandex is usually my go-to, but even that was killing me on the 2 hours plus category. Aside from body glide...what do you do? Just run and deal with the pain after? Anyone planning on wearing bathing suits and changing? my favorite bike shorts are my Desoto 400 mile shorts, which I can't swim in. Boo. I guess I just wanna see what everyone is wearing. If I can find a top that works (so far my Zoot/Gu jersey and my jogbra are fails) for the swim, but I've swum 4,000 meters in the Desoto 400 mile shorts with no problem. You just have to be sure to tie the drawstring extra tight. If I can't find a top, I'll be in regular Speedo for the swim, DeSoto 400 mile shorts and Team Zoot/Gu jersey for the bike and Brooks kit (nightlife shimmel and shorts) for the run. For the chafing, I recommend vasaline. Aquaphor has even more staying power. I sweat body-glide and chamois butter right off. |

Expert 617 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread 15step - 2010-08-19 12:25 PM So random question: how does the GPS unit know when you started the race?Since it is a time trial start, no one knows exactly when they get in the water. If the GPS unit is just a receiver, then how do you turn it on for when the race starts? My guess is that you turn it on at any point prior to the race start and then when you start, the dot starts to move. It isn't a timing system so it isn't going to give you splits or anything like that, just your location on the course at a given point and then your locations at previous points....That's my guess. |

Thats what I figured. I plan on using it mostly for the people there with me to know where I am at. Plus, as a safety feature. If the GPS isnt moving, thats a bad thing.... |

Now that's funny! It sounds like you just show up. I don't see a registration form. So maybe just show up, turn in whatever amount of money you want to donate, and run. Did anyone do it last year? How many people were there? |

Expert 696 Sugar Hill, GA | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Do they expect a bunch of people standing around in their underwear to have a lot of money in their pockets? Yup, I'll be there. Jack is looking forward to it, he's going to join in for the last 1/2 mile. |

There is a nice little size tube you can buy to take along. If I was close by I'd give you a bunch of tiny sample tubes!! Edited by gts 2010-08-20 9:17 AM |

They are 20oz. bigjim7 - 2010-08-19 3:09 PM are those large enough to fit in regular cages on my bike??? just got nervous! Do you have rear bottle cages at all? You say they are flimsier, but do they seem prone to ejection? No on the rear cages, you might want to check with last years participants, they are the same as last year. I could also get you a couple to try out when you hit town. Edited by timdude 2010-08-20 5:44 PM |

I figure a beer or two don't hurt me.cornchexs - 2010-08-19 6:47 PM mycarguy - 2010-08-19 4:46 PM hey cornchexs, i just wanted to let you know how much i appreciated you directing to an ART specialist earlier in the year, i really believe i may not be doing the race if it wasn't for that.... thanks sooooo much for the referal!!!!!! Glad it worked out for you! I know it's gotten me to many starting lines in the past! Hope to see you at the race! Or the meet up that is scheduled (?) for Friday. Can someone confirm a location/time? I know it's a few pages back but I'm a little lazy at the moment. There isn't a scheduled time nor location. Just a general idea that some people want to meet up on Friday, but no one has made anything official Maybe we should switch it and meet at the practice swim saturday morning. I'm not going to step up to take charge of this meet up until I'm actually in KY, but if someone else wants to declare something I will go along with it. I will also be at the swim practice on Saturday. I am pretty hard to miss. 6'7" 200 lbs blonde hair. |
