Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Hi, all! Prepping house for showing in 2 weeks. It sucks!!!!!! I got in a 2 1/2 hour trainer ride yesterday + a short run. I watched the first four episodes of 24 season 1. I think I was in college when that aired and didn't give a hoot, so I thought I'd give it a shot. It kept me entertained for my ride, so I'll continue on with the season next Sat. Ran and did some core work this morning. Packing and cleaning for the rest of the day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, friends. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Kelly - hang in there. You'll get better and your body will adapt to the medication. I can understand why you feel the way you do though. You have big goals and a training plan that is going to get your there. To have to back off on the training, and allow your body to recover is hard. But, something you need to do to get better. Try not to stress about it (easier said than done I know). |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Morning! I got in a run this morning, and then I'll be hitting the pool for a longish swim this evening. When I am swimming, I am constantly thinking about every element of my stroke, and it's draining. I don't do the same thing on the bike and run. Too bad I can't shut my brain off while I'm swimming. It used to be relaxing. Now.....not so much. Off to a preschool valentine's day party.... |

I don't do the same thing on the bike and run. Too bad I can't shut my brain off while I'm swimming. It used to be relaxing. Now.....not so much. Off to a preschool valentine's day party.... I used to do this with my golf swing. I think the two are semi comparable since they're both very form driven. You need to find keys and work on one thing at a time. Working on the entirety of the stroke is going to just be sensory overload. So find something that sticks out when say working on your catch and try and groove that feeling for an entire workout, or series of workouts, until it's second nature then progress on to something else. That's how I'd attack it anyway.
Yesterday's ride really sucked. Temps are in the 30s here which isn't problematic if I'm working as hard as I'm accustomed. Issue is I committed to ride with guys riding 16ish. I had nothing to focus on but how cold I was. About mile 30 I let them know that I was just going to have to drop them because I was a popsicle so I could warm up and they were cool with it. Glad I have good friends.
Today was intervals in the pool and half mile repeats on the treadmill. Yoga to cool down and stretch out. I REALLY need to find the time to start ART again. |

I should have known something was wrong becasue my HR was 12 beats higher then normal but I suffered through the run and then it wacked me. I am down to 171 with my race weight being 165. Today is a day off and tomorrow is a 1:00 Z2 run which will most likely become a Z1 run we shall see. |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED OK, everyone don't forget to do your weigh in tomorrow am!!! I had kind of a crappy eating week with my niece and nephew over, but hoping to hold steady. On an awesome positive note .... I did 4x1 mile repeats at 9:35, 9:35, 9:35 & 9:24!!! I totally expected to do these at about 10:30 or so, so was really very surprised. It was 18 degrees out, so did this on an indoor track, but so excited about the progress. I have never done mile repeats, but my 5k PR times are not even close to this (about 31:30 or so). AND this even surprised Kelly ... double bonus!!! |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED So I have found out the the chemicals in the pool I swim in are off apparently and a lot of the team has been getting stuffed up and sore throats after swims for about 1-2 days. This has been happening to me for about 2-3 months now. Very frustrating. Coach has suggested using a nose plug or taking sudafed before swims. Thoughts? Never used a plug before. |

Master 2538 Albuquerque | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Had a nice swim today. Got there to early though, the aqua classes were still going on. That puts the pool down to two lanes, but the guy solo in the one lane was really nice when I asked to join. He left shortly after and I had it to myself for most of the way until I was nearly done. I love when splitting lanes isn't a hassle. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I lucked out today and my offsite meeting ended a bit early. I was able to get to the gym before all the pool lanes were taken. That is a huge accomplishment at that place. On a not so positive note - the breakfast, lunch & afternoon snack they served us was not that healthy. Day 2 tomorrow - I'm bringing some healthy snacks. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Good morning. I signed on to the USAT site today to renew membership. Haven't really signed on to that in a while. I was pleasantly surprised to see I actually qualified for the USAT National Championships in August. I laugh about this, becuase I really don't bellong there. I had qualified by winning my age group in small event of about 200 people, back in Auugust, and 5th overall. That still does not say much, because I know I am not that fast. But I am considering doing it, only for the experience. I know I'd get my butt handed to me. We'll see what happens when I am able to start swiming again. Heading to gym later for a walk/run. 15 days until cleared to run again!!! |
