Morning, NIBBS!

Morning Phil!

Morning???? It's not morning. It's 5:21 PM.

In other news, I paid my first visit to a real "running shoe store" today. Had to drive over an hour each way, but hey, it's not Earth Day anymore, so it's ok to burn a little gasoline.

And guess what? Yep, I was wearing the wrong kind of shoes. No wonder I've had so many knee/ankle problems.

Getting a "footstrike analysis" is well-worth it!  Good for you, Deeder!

If you could please take a minute and weigh in on this, I would deeply appreciate it (either there or here in Nibbs):

Yanti!!! I saw your thread about the job... my thoughts are this:

1 - You must be able to pay rent and feed yourself - basically you MUST be able to live

2 - A job is a job. You cannot like all of it...

3 - If you are going to hate yourself for doing the job then its not a good longterm solution... but if you can appreciate you are providing a service, musch like a check out operator, a waitress etc then youll be fine

I guess the questions are this:

- What other options do you have?

- How desperately do yuo need the money?

Hmmm ... I wouldn't be very pleased with myself but I'm certainly going to be far less pleased with myself if I'm crashing on someone's couch and scrounging leftovers ...

Options are not good and they all pay a lot less. Applying for jobs, ESPECIALLY now, is a lengthy process before you get one, especially a decent one.

I'm desperate. My one job is gone and I'm having my hours cut at the other (nothing I did; just company tightening down due to the economy). I do have a tiny bit of money coming in as I'm selling bike stuff off, but that's of course not a renewable resource. As of right now I have 98 cents in the bank and a few dollars in change.

Ok well there you go...

Plus I think anything where you can chose WHEN yuo can work the hours required would be good for you right now... just a thought.

I know you live really frugally already but is there anything else you can cut? Like only going out to meet people for coffees/walks rather than dinners... or living somewhere with cheaper rent etc? Or is that all unrealistic?

With a lot of companies cutting hours etc some people will opt out of being made part time so make sure you are putting the word out there you are looking for this kind of work too...

Oh yes, I am putting the word out everywhere ...

Every time I go out with friends, one of them buys me dinner. It's understood between all of us that when someone is in dire straits, we buy for them. I've done it, too.

Right now I haven't a spare nickel to spend on coffee, so it's home made

I'm also not going to spend pool money and just go swim in that big beautiful ocean we have here.

I'm going to bike anywhere I would normally take a bus to.

Thanks for asking ... it's helping me come up with even more places I can cut ...

It can get really depressing living on a tight budget for too long.. at least in my experience... but in contrast for what some people go thrugh i know I havent experienced the worst...

Hang in there... and if you would be happier and more comfortable overall by having the money in your hand then thats something to consider too!

Lovely Dee. Thank you so much for your comment in the other thread. Yes, poor Yodi must be kept in kibble!

I think that's the direction I'm going to go ... try it, and in the meanwhile keep hammering at other resources. I'm going to sleep on it tonight and since I'm a prayerful sort, pray about it.

Any more clarity on it today?

I've given situations like this a lot of thought.  Ideally, I don't want to work for a tobacco company when I graduate (they recruit pretty heavily from my university and my program), but if I didn't have any other offers and Andy and I needed the money, I would take it and try to find another job as quickly as I could.  It's not ideal, but sometimes you have to do things to get through.

Afternoon Nibbs!

I had a fun coffee w/ Jen. You'all should come down to Richmond and have coffee with us.

(And we're already making plans to kidnap Judi for coffee someday...)

It's supposed to be a gorgeous weekend here in Richmond...I'm going to try a teeny little run this afternoon and then break out Baby this weekend for a couple rides.
